Can offers like this can help VIDEOCON to retain its market presence ?

Yes offers like this kind will increase its market share but sticking to only one state will not benefit them. They should do this type of strategies with difersified market strategy.

Its best if Videocon just sells its GSM spectrum to Reliance Infotel, and quits the Telecom sector completely. Then Reliance Infotel will have Voice as well as LTE spectrum, it will be the toughest competitor in the telecom sector.

Or better say like this “….Then Reliance Infotel will have Voice as well as LTE spectrum, it will be the toughest looter in the telecom sector.”

Reliance communication Headed by Anil Ambani is definitely a Looter no doubt, I just believe Reliance Infotel Headed by Mukesh Ambani might be a different affair, since he seems to have better business strategy than his sibling. And if Infotel does manage to get GSM spectrum then they can deploy Circuit switched Fallback (CSFB) technology to provide voice over LTE pan India.

+1. But Reliance Infotel is willing to provide voice services too. I don’t know with whom they will tie-up but they will enter voice market too. Maybe by setting up infra with backward support. But as of yet LTE doesn’t have backward support to 3G/2G.

Yeah! exactly. Thanks for correction. I focused more on Esmail’s remarks with Reliance citing as “toughest competitor”.
LTE’s voice is a big issue. I think as CDMA/EVDO could not provide a better solution for data+voice than GSM/3G, the history may be repeated with 4G. Similarly lack of backward compatibility with existing technologies will require investment from consumers and they may be unwilling to do so, just like investing in CDMA handset.

Videocon Tamilnadu provides cheap ISD calling rate cutter for Rs.27 with 30 days validity with which one can make unlimited calls (no limit on the per second pulse to any country) to various countries at per second rate. For example : Call U.S and Canada at Rs.0.01 per second, Gulf at just Rs.0.09 per second etc.

    To ALL :
Do not criticize Videocon blindly. It is a new entrant. It needs to develop a lot (I mean coverage in all the cities). The GPRS speed reached upto 120 Kbps (15 KB/s) which is satisfying to check email and browse sites without flash and ads.

    in air_tel 98 rs for 1 GB(only), air_tel to air_tel 10p/min at 97rs (not free calling ,only 10p) 26 rs for SMS . So totally 221rs for air_tel 151rs for videocon.
also offer more. So customers must encourage this kind of offers then only the leading operators will learn.

I would buy a new sim, recharge with FRC 151, enjoy the tariff benefit or 30p/min local and std, and the talktime, and the 3000 sms and 2GB data for 30 days. After 30 days throw the sim into the dustbin and buy a new one with a fresh FRC 151. since its prepaid, no tension of fixed monthly rental, just use and throw.

Videocon offering 2p/min on-net calling in Haryana @ Rs.19/month. Videocon is, no doubt, has the cheapest tariffs but company is not at all serious about its mobile operations. Network expansion is due because of funds problem which many other companies are facing. I have Videocon SIM for 30p/min local_std tariff only which they offer for a month @Rs.65 along-with Rs.60 talktime.
