Uninor to Strengthen its Coverage & Retail Presence in Maharastra & Goa

Uninor, the Indian arm of Norway's telecom major Telenor has made several efforts in Maharastra Goa circle to promote the brand to reach more people. The company has started the next phase of expansion in this circle. The plan includes expansion of network coverage, strengthening the existing network and retail presence. Recently Uninor has launched Roam free plans for its customers.

Uninor, one of the fastest growing mobile operator is promoting its brand as 'Sabse Sasta' in all circles and continues to offer 'cheap and best' tariffs to its subscribers.

Ritesh Singh, Circle Business Head of Maharashtra and Goa circle announced the next phase of expansion, “I am delighted to announce the next phase of expansion for the circle. With this expansion, Uninor will now have over 70000 retail outlets, 3487 Base Transceiver Stations and 300 Franchise Owner Franchise Operated (FOFO) stores across the state. We will also kickstart the ‘Dhoom Machale’ Roadshow from Pune; covering over 685 km and visiting Bhiwandi, Nasik, Pimpalgaon and Ahmednagar as a part of the roadshow.” Uninor CEO will join the roadshow along with Uninor circle team and Delhi Corporate team for 3 days to visit top cities as well as tier II and III cities to promote the brand.

Updates from Nasik 

Uninor has earlier launched Auto-Recharge initiative in Pune. Under this initiative some auto richshaw drivers become Uninor's recharge kiosks to offer recharges on the move. With massive response in Pune, Uninor extended the game plan in Nasik. In first phase 15 specially branded auto-rickshaws with extensively trained drivers will make Uninor connections and recharges available to their passengers. This number will be scaled up to 100 branded auto-rickshaws in Nasik within the next 6 months.

With this launch, Uninor now has over 100 such branded auto-rickshaws in the cities of Pune, Nasik, Chandrapur and Vasai – making a recharge and new mobile connection within easier and closer reach to the users.

Besides auto-rickshaws, Uninor is also testing recharge and new SIM retailing through newspaper vendors, milk vendors and insurance agents in other regions of Maharashtra.

Uninor will add 42 network sites (totalling more than 400 network sites across Nasik) and 800 more retailers to total nearly 9300 retailers in the city. connections and recharges available across the city. The new cell sites will come up in areas including Palse, Kasbesukene, Pimpalas, Ugaon, Wadner Bhairav, Nagarsol, Nayadongri, Sakore, Peint, Ajang, Vadel, Lakhmapur.

Updates from Ahmednagar

Uninor is adding 425 cell sites across the zone of which 45 are in the city. Retail presence is also increase to 10,200 shops selling Uninor products.

At Ahmednagar, Uninor also organized a run that saw participation from over 200 youngsters from the city. This run was flagged-off by Uninor CEO, Yogesh Malik along with Ritesh Singh, Circle Business Head, Maharashtra & Goa and accompanied by Mr. Girish Kulkarni, Founder of Snehalaya NGO and his team. Held in Pemraj Sarda College, the participants along with Uninor CEO Yogesh Malik ran from Zopadi Canteen, Premdan Chowk, Professor Colony, Tofkhana Police Station Branch, Ganga Udyan, Tarakpur Road and returning to Pemraj Sarda College as the end point covering a route of 3 kilometers. The marathon saw Participants from across all age groups join in the run, which was promoted as a ‘run for health’ – promoting the idea of healthy living and perseverance.
