    • SS June 6, 2014 12:39 am

Roaming packs wouldn’t work in HP because uninor doesn’t own its network there and has tie up with idea cellular. Better take an airtel, vodafone, idea, bsnl sim to enjoy seamless connectivity.

    • SS March 5, 2014 5:34 pm

No, M&G and Mumbai are different circles. Uninor doesn’t operate in Mumbai and has TD as its roaming partner.

  • adil September 7, 2013 11:16 am

This is the best operator I wished it had been functioning on pan India bases with 900mhz band.

    • raj September 7, 2013 3:52 pm

good news to all jharkhand user smartgsm and uninor caped all 2g packs at 40kbps

now goole page will open in five min….. ha ha ha ha…..

    • Saurabh September 7, 2013 4:55 pm

The reason behind this wish is simply the cheap offerings by Uninor and nothing else. If Uninor had spectrum in 900MHz and was operating on Pan-India basis, you wouldn’t have had these prices. :P

The only companies which deserves spectrum in 900MHz on Pan-India basis is AVoID group. At-least they know how to use it well unlike BSNL who has large chunk of 900 MHz spectrum in all circles and yet using the 3.8 MHz quota of 1800 MHz as equipment for 1800 MHz costs less. In Haryana, you can find BSNL 900 MHz cell sites in big cities only. What a mentality? You can have 1800 MHz in cities while 900 MHz cell sites are useful in towns and villages where population density is low. But they are BSNL. Who can direct them?

    • Duane Bayliss September 11, 2013 9:50 am

@ ADIL – if UNINOR was on 900MHz would it still be “sabse sasta”

  • Kaushik Roy September 6, 2013 10:07 pm

To use sabse sasta plan people should stay and roam in these six circles only ;)

    • Duane Bayliss September 11, 2013 9:55 am

@ KAUSIK yes then only it will be SABSE SASTA: however if you travel for 2-3 days you end up paying anything from Rs 28-43 (depending on Circle) which is way above the Rs 5 PER DAY that Airtel charges! So is it really SABSE SASTA? Maybe a DAILY VARIANT of Rs 2.50 would have been more “in sync” with the SABSE SASTA concept.

  • Saurabh September 6, 2013 7:23 pm

These are somewhat OK. Videocon is not charging anything but limited to four circles only. Secondly, they have started a Rs.4 pack which will allow free roaming on non-Videocon cell sites. I don’t get it whether it is for those cell cites in circles where Videocon is present but has tie-up with others also or it’s for all India roaming. Well at Rs.4, it can’t be. So it should be only for those areas where Videocon is present but using partner networks also like in Haryana where they are using Tata network. So anyone coming from Punjab and have this plan active will not be charged on TD cell sites. On USSD *123*6#, they have listed the plan and selecting it provides info. Enjoy free incoming calls on Non_Videocon cell sites at Rs.4. Valid till midnight. Reply 1 to activate.

    • nik September 6, 2013 11:20 pm

i think this rs.4 recharge works for only 50 mins incoming calls on non videocon sites.

      • Saurabh September 7, 2013 9:32 am

        Aren’t 50 mins enough in a day?

        • Duane Bayliss September 7, 2013 12:36 pm

More than enough! The *average* Roaming usage is around 7-9 min (incoming) and 2-3 min (outgoing) spread over a span of 2-3 days in a 30 day period. This of course *non-average* people like moi (me) who live in Hyderabad and use a Kolkata SIM – last month used 18:42 hr:min INCOMING – for a charge of Rs 75 only!!!

          • nik September 8, 2013 12:58 am

not enough for me…i have more outgoing and incoming calls even on roaming….overall the scheme is beneficial for majority of the customers.

            • Duane Bayliss September 11, 2013 9:58 am

@ NIK – then I feel AIRTEL / VODA / IDEA “Daily Pack” makes most sense: UNLIMITED INCOMING CALLS @ RS 5 – ANYWHERE in India, you dont need to think whether Videocon/Uninor/Tata Docomo has operations where you are!!

Besides if the Outgoing is costly, opt for TRAVEL MATE 499 – you get 50,000 sec on Home & Roam networks with 200 SMS (on Roaming) also free.

    • Vivek sindhu September 8, 2013 6:42 am

Videocon has free roaming in all the circles where videocon is present without any pack and this Rs.4 pack is for other circles where there is videocon not present and tieup with other operator , so this is advantage of videocon that all india roaming free is there on non-videocon sites for 50 min. free incoming calls in just Rs. 4 , its best operator,…..

  • Vikas September 6, 2013 7:19 pm

issue there anyway for aircel to launch 3g in new delhi??

    • Saurabh September 6, 2013 7:27 pm

Aircel don’t have 3G license for Delhi circle. Only MTNL, Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance has. So they can’t launch 3G there. Pray that they will not shut down 2G operations also like they did in 5-7 circles.

      • Vikas September 6, 2013 8:52 pm

if aircel will exit nothing will be changed
        they have the worst network

        • Duane Bayliss September 7, 2013 12:20 pm

@ VIKAS then why do you want them, with their “worst network” to launch 3G

    • Duane Bayliss September 7, 2013 12:23 pm

@ VIKAS – via ICRA (Intra-Circle Roaming Agreement) the way IDEA has done in Delhi. This is currently not the best option as the BIG 3 (A/V/I) have already been ordered by the Supreme Court to STOP new activations (in ICRA) though they are STILL allowing customers who have 3G (service) in their home networks to use ICRA while in Roaming.

      • Saurabh September 7, 2013 5:02 pm

@DB, They can allow roaming to a user from one circle into other circle where his/her operator not having 3G license as this falls under Inter Circle Roaming and this is legal. BTW DoT has asked Defense Ministry to swap spectrum in 1900MHz band which they had to vacate with that in 2100 MHz band, paving way for another round of 3G auction. Let see whether Defense Ministry releases it or not. In some circles we will have 2 more operators and in other 3. :) At that point this ghost of ICRA (Intra One) will R.I.P.

Many people are taking SIM via their relatives from other circle where operator A has license and using it in their home circle on Operator B. :D

        • Duane Bayliss September 11, 2013 10:01 am

@ SAURABH : yes that makes a lot of sense… I use a WEST BENGAL (non Kolkata) SIM with my brother’s address here in HYDERABAD – I get 3G (though AIRTEL does not offer it it to its own (Kolkata) customers any longer. Works fine in DELHI, BANGALORE and HYDERABAD as well.

Does anyone know how AIRTEL 3G in Mumbai / Thane area is?
