    Panzorconi, Cuncolim.near NUSI WOCKHARDT Hospital.Problem: The network(Bsnl/Aircel/TATA DoCoMo-they share the tower here with bsnl) fluctuates and sometimes goes off. I sense there is some problem with the tower.But sometimes its fine….

    Dear Webly As discussed with BSNL GSM officers In Panzarconi there is no shared site of BSNL Cellone, BSNL have their own independant site which is equipped with Wimax, CDMA & GSM equipments, you are talking about Indus site which is shared by other private ops & have many trouybleshoots to tht site only. BSNL records says that there is no frequently breakdowns for our independant site. Pls confirm if you using BSNL Cellone/Excel Sim so tht we can force them to check it again. Webly FYI Pls Now BSNL Cellone covered Goa state much better than anyo ther operator, private ops are only covered city areas very strongly but they yet until not ready to reach in rural areas. If they need to reach in every part of Goa state they need to share most of the cellsites of BSNL, except of BSNL they never covered rural part of any city. In Goa most of the cellsites are in incopmlete mode only because of public oppose( Health hazards waves) otherwise BSNL will be number one in all sector of telecom.</blockquote.

    Other ops are facing public oppose for celsite installation in most of the areas of Goa, Gram Panchayat, political leaders are also helpless against the public oppose.Idea completely stopped his new cell site installation work in Goa state & they trying to share most of the BSNL, Indus, GTL cellsites for improvement. VF also have same problem in Goa, in short no one are ready to increase their cellsite in Goa state except BSNL. BSNL Cellone having 35cellsites in progress in rural & city area after oppose of public. For e.g Navelim, Fatorda Math, Mardol, Banastarium etc some places where work is in progress.

    Uninor Borivali COCO,Shop no S-4, S-5, S-6, Anuradha Building, Manik Nagar, Chandavarkar Lane, Borivali West Mumbai 400092

    Not a SINGLE Uninor Store in Mumbai is UP and ready for the SALE of SIM KITS coz many retailers have not been given the e-pin or the balance in their retailer account balance!

    Even there’s some BIG Problem in the CRM of uninor, bcoz of whch the Franchisees are unable to activate the sim cards, and also unable to fulfill the needs of customer like in the selection of last 6 digits.

    Insiders even tell tht they are advised not to sell any simkits before 4th June!!

    dn knw wat policy is this, i hope tht this mismanagement solves asap!!

    What a ghatiya network ? no signal inside any building or in train. Guys- don’t waste your time here with Uninor. Chinese equipment ban means – no further expansion for Uninor in Mumbai.

    Chuti to signal – keep waiting- ab aayega mera number…

    Uninor – tera number kabhi nahin aayega…

  • Neal Pradeep June 2, 2010 11:31 am

  • TURKEE June 2, 2010 10:11 am

    @Neal Pradeep
    You are again saying the same that you are correct, But understand your definition was completely wrong. OK, don’t trust mine but simply log on to Google and type ARPU and check it out!! You will find the difference of opinion!!

  • Neal Pradeep June 2, 2010 7:33 am

    @TURKEE
    thanks! but i dn need any clarifications..from you! you are right with your thoughts and i’m right from my side. so if you want any further clarifications, do let me know.:)

  • TURKEE June 1, 2010 11:50 pm

    @Neal Pradeep
    Neal, Revenue is not Overall Profit, Revenue is total amount generated from Sales of products, Profit is minus expenses of any type made by compnay from Total Revenue Generated and “ARPU Average Revenue Per User” simply means that revenue given by customer to a company. Formula is like Total Revenue divided by number of active subscribers equals to ARPU. If you need further clarification, let me know!!

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 11:26 pm

    @kaushik
    oh! come on yaar!! its nothing like that n by the way you are right.!! but i was just telling tht ARPU is not calculated tht way, i mean thts not the CORRECT way to find ARPU..!! :)

    take care..!! i’m really sorry if i’ve hurt you..!! thanks!!

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 11:17 pm

    @Neal Pradeep

    @ishan
    MINUSING “ACTUAL AVERAGE REVENUE FROM USER(arpu)” FROM TOTAL REVENUE INCOME OF THE COMPANY IS NOT CALLED AS “actual arpu”, i agree with you that UNINOR has still not broke even but the REAL ARPU means you know wat i meant to say! TRAI does tht so as to provide the details of HEALTHINESS of an operator through its revenue cum ARPU comparison..

    i spoke to uninor in this regard, so this is wat explanation i got from them,!!

    i stick to my words :)

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 11:12 pm

    @TURKEE
    yes , i know that :)

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 11:10 pm

    @ishan

    @kaushik

    no..!!you cannot link revenue with ARPU..!! both are different from each other, they cannot be compared because of many reasons, one simple reason i would like to explain here is ..operators who provide FULL TALKTIME OFFERS OR RECHARGES in tht also operators have to pay service tax, n tht service tax is paid by company on customer behalf..n like wise there sre many such considerations, so linking ARPU with the revenue of an operator will be unjustice. REVENUE IS OVERALL PROFITS not just ARPU, WHERE OPERATIONAL EXPENSES ADD TOO..!!

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 11:09 pm

    no..!! ARPU is the Average Revenue Per user, its often disclosed if shares of the company are listed in NSE or BSE. But since Unitech Wireless is not listed in BSE or NSE, its not announced that regularly, but as far as i know the ARPU of Uninor till the end of March was around Rs 172.33, which is in line with the ARPU of other operators.

    I think the information provided by Neal Pradeep is wrong..According to the http://www.coai.com UNINOR’s total revenue for the JANUARY 2010-MARCH 2010 quarter is 31.50 crore and ARPU is Rs.38.37.
    AIRTEL had the highest ARPU for the JANUARY 2010-MARCH 2010 quarter, Rs.173.33

    ARPU gives you the actual health of a company, If it is less then Company is going in Loss coz the acquisition cost goes on higher side then!! So companies always try to maintain a healthy ARPU!!

  • TURKEE June 1, 2010 10:33 pm

    Every company has a deadline from DOT to launch services by a date agreed by both. If companies are sure to delay same, they do a soft launch by placing sims in the market with selected outlets. But they don’t do the activations neither sell them, its just to show the government that they have launched!!

  • Animesh.Sengupta June 1, 2010 2:30 pm

    In 2008 it was reported that Reliance Communications is in advanced talks with Orange to bring this brand back to India for their GSM operations.However the rumor was burn to ashes when a bigwig from FT denied any such deal and termed it as market speculation.

    Earlier this year it was asserted that Orange may apply for MTNL 3G (Jadoo) franchise deal.FT again discarded this offer as they would not like to limit themselves in Delhi & Mumbai where MTNL is present and also want to explore the 2G customer base as it has the higher penetration rate than 3G.

    Whether they would return or not is still a question as Indian Mobile Telephony is already overcrowded with 10-12 operators in each state, so getting a new license doesn’t seem to be a good idea.It is yet to be seen whether they would follow Vodafone strategy when they bought Hutchison Essar

    Unino’r performance depended on the way they would have launched, But it seems that they will just add upto one more junky operator in Mumbai. If they would have been sure about their network & services, they would have surely launched with a bang, but they are nowhere.

  • Amit.G June 1, 2010 1:40 pm

    however! internal tower sharing can be done by uninor with other network operators!! but an end user will only have an option to select UNINOR in home circle!

    in roaming !dea are their roaming partners, in roaming if you can’t find uninor then you can select Idea cellular’s network

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 1:27 pm

    @Nitin
    no..!! in home circle, you can only latch on to uninor’s network!

  • kaushik June 1, 2010 1:27 pm

    Uninor network is quite good in kolkata atleast outdoor signals are good
    but in ROB i think they will take time

  • kaushik June 1, 2010 1:24 pm

    @Nitin
    depends upon agreement with operator
    like Loop Mumbai has tower sharing agreement with Idea Maha and incoming calls are free

  • Nitin June 1, 2010 1:21 pm

    @kaushik
    Does this mean that in Maharashtra where there is no uninor tower/signal the sim card will still work with vodafone or idea signal?

  • kaushik June 1, 2010 1:17 pm

    In kolkata Uninor RC 429 – 29 paise Local and 49 paise STD for 1 year
    Better is Idea RC 23 – Local 30 paise and STD 50 paise for 1 year

  • TURKEE June 1, 2010 1:17 pm

    @Webly
    Uninor ka tou pata hi nahi chal raha, launch huwa bhi ya nahi. Pata nahi kya hoga!!

  • NeaL Pradeep June 1, 2010 1:16 pm

    24X7 Badalta Discount Plan’ or Dynamic Pricing plan will offer customers changing discounts on their calls based on traffic on the network. DP rides on sophisticated technology that puts the customer in control.

    Discounts are calculated by an intelligent ‘Discount Engine’ that relies on state-of-the-art IT systems to continuously monitor traffic at every tower in the network. Applicable discounts are broadcast to all mobile screens under coverage of that tower and discount at which a call is started is maintained throughout the duration of the call.

    Under the ‘24X7 Badalta Discount Plan (DP)’, discounts will range from 5% to as much as 60%, depending on location and time. This discount will be applicable on a standard base call rate of 50 paisa per minute for any local call, Uninor-to-Uninor or Uninor-to-any other operator. This means a 1-minute local call could cost as low as 20 paisa and never more than 50 paisa.

  • NeaL Pradeep June 1, 2010 1:15 pm

    On launch day, Uninor connections in these 5 circles will be available at over 85,000 points of sale through 439 distributors and at 81 exclusive shops in the five new circles. This is the largest ever launch distribution in these cities and states achieved by any GSM operator in India.

  • NeaL Pradeep June 1, 2010 1:14 pm

    Uninor today announced the simultaneous launch of its Global GSM service in the 5 telecom circles of Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa, Gujarat, Kolkata and West Bengal.

  • Ajay rao June 1, 2010 1:11 pm

    Now a days new operators are sharing or renting infrastructure with existing operators.
    that is good for instance though new company we get better coverage.
    egs is uninor in mumbai,
    videocon uses loop mobile network in mumbai,
    same uses tata in gujarat.
    thats why we r seeing lots of new launch now a days.

  • Karthik Kumar June 1, 2010 1:10 pm

    Any one in interested in Uninor network coverage can access the below link and see.

    http://www.uninor.in/WhyUninor/Pages/WorldClassITNW.aspx

    Maharastra & Goa are not yet included. I hope they will do that very soon.

  • rajiev June 1, 2010 1:10 pm

    kya mumbai mein idea ki network acchi hai

  • TURKEE June 1, 2010 1:09 pm

    Sim given to retailers for recharge has a small clock on top left corner & the kit cover can be used as photo frame. That’s a good thought from Uninor, but is that enough?? Lets hope their network is good otherwise they will be history!!

  • Webly June 1, 2010 1:03 pm

    Hope they share a tower from Idea or Vodafone in my area. :)

  • aks June 1, 2010 1:01 pm

    i dont think Uninor.. can stay with old operators… they r very late…

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 12:49 pm

    @Shyam
    it is located on station road, in santacruz west!

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 12:47 pm

    @Webly
    uninor has first prepared a network plan on paper and then at those particular points the network towers has been rented irrespective of COMPANY!!

  • Webly June 1, 2010 12:44 pm

    Neal Pradeep :
    @Webly
    tower sharing is mixed it has done with idea, tata and also in some parts it has tied up with vodafone..uninor accesses towers on rent from different operators,it doesn’t have any of its own.!

    If they share with Idea & Vodafone they will Rock.

    and if its with Bsnl(TATA DoCoMo/Aircel) then the network will be nearly poor.

    Let’s wait and watch……..

  • Neal Pradeep June 1, 2010 12:43 pm

    @Shyam
    it is located on the station road itself..!!

    Uninor today launched its Special First Recharge Offer under dynamic Pricing, wherein if a customer recharges for Rs 48 as FRC, then customer gets the benefit of “Dynamic Pricing” offer for 365 days with Discount on local calls 5%-60% of 50paise/minute and STD calls will be charged at flat 50p/min whereas SMS will cost 25p.

    The Sim kit will cost Rs 49 and if you want to customize your last 6 digits according to your choice then you will be charged to a minimum of Rs.100 to a maximum of Rs 15,000 depending upon the type of number. All the best uninor u ll really face tough competation, even other operators will def feel the heat whenever a new operator enters the circle, gaining customers is not a big deal but gaining loyal customes who stick to tat operator compeletely & spend money is important, Until & ur future cannot be judged until a customer make ur no as his/her main no. or else same game will start USE & THROW :-)

    Then they will definitely compete with Idea & Vodafone.
