After announcing its decision to prioritize investments and expansion in eight circles including Kolkata and West Bengal Uninor has now announced that it will add an additional 150 new network sites within the coming months in Kolkata and West Bengal.
The company has already added a similar number of additional sites in the last three months across the state.
Uninor has also emerged as the highest subscriber gainer in Kolkata circle for the second consecutive month according to the COAI June 2012 subscriber addition report.
Since its launch in 2010, over two million subscribers have chosen Uninor in Kolkata itself. This makes Uninor the most preferred service in the circle since the past two years.
The company had earlier launched the Sabse Sasta Challenge, promising a full refund to anyone who can find a tariff more affordable than what Uninor offers. One month and no challenge later, Uninor now extends the offer to a full campaign that will aggressively use print, radio and outdoor advertising inviting customers to the undisputed and most affordable mobile service of Kolkata and West Bengal.

Thank you for your professionalism & help negotiating my lease with T-Mobile. I had contacted a competitor (that’s a joke) prior to you and the arrogance they displayed in our initial phone call put me off right away. It seemed that they were only interested in what they could get from me.
I have negotiated more than 2,500 real estate contracts in the past 20 years and knew that, after reading the initial contract, I needed a professional to help me. Because it is David vs Goliath I wanted to make sure that I had the right size sling & rock, if you know what I mean.
I was impressed with your knowledge of cell tower leases and your easy & direct demeanor and your fee was actually cheap compared to what I will receive. I am glad that you will be available for consultation (if necessary) when construction begins.
I would strongly encourage anybody who is in a position to negotiate with a cellular company to uninor – it is money well worth spending.burdwan (debipur)pls help me)

sAm August 11, 2012 at 7:26 pm
@Raghu
Already a couple of operators are there who provides service to non-license areas while roaming through tie-ups with other companies..
So don’t worry..
Rohit August 11, 2012 at 6:54 pm
they may be shift these towers from – orissa, tn, knt and ap.ha ha ha ha.. they are making fool…

ARJUN CHANDRASHEAKAR August 11, 2012 at 1:12 pm
@Amit.G
Infact Aircel Needs to Improve Their Network in Many Places. But Still They are Having Better Network Compared to that of previous Years. Aircel Has The Slightest Minus Point I.E. Their Network Quality is low
ARJUN CHANDRASHEAKAR August 11, 2012 at 1:07 pm
@abhijith
Their License were cancelled of TAMILNADU, KARNATAKA, KERALA and ODISHA so that they will turn off their towers
ARJUN CHANDRASHEAKAR August 11, 2012 at 1:04 pm
@Amit.G
Even Uninor Network is not available in Mahalakshmi Layout, P.C.Extension, Kogilahalli, Cottonpet, Fort Area and Bangarpet Circle of Kolar Town

I think If Uninor comes up with some SMS PACKS giving 5000-6000 sms(s)/month, many of the Kolkatans will opt for Uninor. their sms pack of 27 which gives 100sms/day is of no use for heavy SMS users.So uninor please provide us some good reasonable SMS STV(s).Uninor atleast is far better than Docomo.
Sayan Chattopadhyay August 11, 2012 at 9:19 am
i also dont have any idea on auction. currently uninor is the 4th largest operator of wb circle according to the subscriber base and if they get back their license i think they will be among the top 3 operators of wb circle.
Pavan S N August 11, 2012 at 8:10 am
@Amit.G
Ya right. They have expanded their coverage to many places in South Karnataka. Hope they beat Airtel in future.
Priyobroto August 11, 2012 at 1:23 am
@Arka
Arka +1 I agree with you boss
srikapardhi August 11, 2012 at 12:26 am
it is foolish by the govt to cancel licenses of operators who are strongly and afford ably providing services.
Raghu August 11, 2012 at 12:11 am
@Sayan Chattopadhyay
actually that is great news.Hope Uninor gets the license back after the Auction is over. I do not know when govt is going to conduct the auctions.
Amit.G August 11, 2012 at 12:10 am
@Pavan
Agreed Aircel is better compared to Docomo. Infact Aircel is expanding their coverage at a very faster rate.
Raghu August 11, 2012 at 12:09 am
@sAm
they are very serious. but Uninor is not coming out what are their plans for 8 circles and some circles they have stopped. what will happen to other circles when we roam on Uninor network. Uninor will have to explain this to the customers.
Sayan Chattopadhyay August 11, 2012 at 12:00 am
absolutely correct Arka.
abhijith August 10, 2012 at 11:11 pm
@Pike
oh ok . . So next only hope is on videocon
Pike August 10, 2012 at 10:58 pm
got msg from uninor to switch to other network and asked to utilize remaining balance within aug 31 !
Arka August 10, 2012 at 10:48 pm
So,what is your business,if they do so? if you can not say “good” to anything,then dnt say “bad” to that.which is “good”,u should accept it as a “good”.
DO NOT COMMENT FOOLISHLY.
Arka August 10, 2012 at 10:39 pm
Some days back,I visited at a rural area of bardhawan(in West bengal),where there was no tower of Aircel,docomo-but,Uninor was present there.It’s an amazing experience.
So,my friends,who are facing trouble with your Uninor connections,please be patience and give some time to Uninor.They are come for 2year(approx) here and they need some time to give you congestion less,all area covered network.they are serious about it and i am sure that they will definitely do so.
Arka August 10, 2012 at 10:32 pm
It is offering really an affordable mobile service in Kolkata and West Bengal circle and as well as best telecom service. I am very satisfied with Uninor and wish to use for lifetime.
NOTE: Uninor now offers premium no starting from 125(available @Rs.70 at all Uninor store),that is most cheapest premium no offered by any telecom company.
Pavan August 10, 2012 at 10:31 pm
@Amit.G
Long back they had switched off few of their towers actually during April-May. I found this in three places Ripponpete, Anandapuram and Konanduru in Shimoga district. Whatever here (in Karnataka) I feel Aircel is better in terms of tariff while BSNL in Network. BSNL only has the widest network in Karnataka not even Airtel. BSNL will surely defeat Airtel in future if they improve quality.
Sayan Chattopadhyay August 10, 2012 at 10:24 pm
@Raghu
from last 3days i have not faced any problem,even the call connectivity to any network is 100%. Let’s see what happens. I am hoping for the best

Amit Deb Biswas August 10, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Raghu August 10, 2012 at 9:20 pm
@Srikapardhi
they have to still improve the network in Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and in so many places Uninor network is not present hope they work on it . I really hope Uninor gets back the license soon and work on adding new towers in AP. i request TT to inform Uninor accordingly abt adding more towers in Cities-Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well as in other parts of AP .
Sujit Kr Biswas August 10, 2012 at 9:18 pm
I want to inform Uninor through your site that there is no website or network in our above mention area.
Raghu August 10, 2012 at 9:17 pm
I do not know why Uninor is not bothered abt improving the Indoor network and near our place Uninor network is not that good. Hope Uninor pays attention and hope they get back the license soon. Hope they add more AP towers same as WB as in AP they have got a lot of customers.
Raghu August 10, 2012 at 9:15 pm
@Sayan Chattopadhyay
this is good news for Uninor customers at WB. has the problem been solved? if not complain it will be nice as they are trying to improve in WB.
PD August 10, 2012 at 9:12 pm
Totally confusing move from Uninor ! What is they are upto ? They are winding up from some circles and is expanding in some ! Why can’t they make it clear as to what will be their future plans with regard to PAN India presence ? If they want to limit in few circles, what would be the fate of service tariff while roaming ?
Esmail August 10, 2012 at 9:08 pm
Uninor will make as much profit as possible from the 8 circles it is continuing to operate in, later they will sell out their business and exit Indian Telecom sector..
Arijit August 10, 2012 at 8:34 pm
Good! Yes atleast Uninor has better coverage than Docomo.I am with docomo for the last 2 years. It could not give full network for more than 60 seconds ever.But docomo is increasing their tariff day by day,but their service is becoming worse everyday.So Docomo guys should take account of this thing (coverage) and make some planning to revamp it. Otherwise Docomo customer will opt for port out.
Amit Karmakar August 10, 2012 at 8:03 pm
Yes, Uninor has better coverage than Aircel, Idea, Docomo and it is comfortably affordable but still Vodafone, Airtel, Reliance, MTS, BSNL are best in coverage. Hope they will expand their coverage continuously. Best of luck Uninor.
Abhinav August 10, 2012 at 8:00 pm
SMS SERVICE IS NOT GOOD IN UNINOR IN SPITE OF HAVING FULL NETWORK STRENGTH IN KOLKATA
Jagannath August 10, 2012 at 7:36 pm
They will stop providing services very soon in Orissa. They have already withdrawn almost all packs…
abhijith August 10, 2012 at 7:03 pm
No news about Tamilnadu . . I think they ill stop here . .
Sayan Chattopadhyay August 10, 2012 at 6:27 pm
sounds gr8! Currently it has far better coverage than aircel, idea and docomo, sometimes even better than bsnl and reliance also in wb. I am still with it for next few weeks. Let’s see what happens.
Narayan Sen August 10, 2012 at 6:18 pm
Jio Uninor….
Srikapardhi August 10, 2012 at 6:16 pm
Uninor is providing good network. I experienced Network even in places where there is no network of Airtel and other Biggies.
Thanks a good progress
