Lakshdeep will contribute an agreed amount of equity into Telewings. The existing partener Unitech’s shareholding in the Uninor joint-venture which it disposed for a nominal amount and also agreed to withdraw all claims and disputes between them as we shared on October 11th, 2012.

There is a correction required in my previous reply. I though Idea has submitted 329 crores which was the earnest money deposit for their 7 lost circles but actually Idea has deposited 1306.75 crores which suggest they may play spoilsport in other circles and with that much amount they can bid for 20 circles. Lets see what strategy Idea is going to apply.

IT’S FINAL- Telenor India or Telewings Communication will bid for 9 circles only (where they are currently operating) in upcoming auctions for 5MHz of spectrum.
Yesterday DoT put up the details of pre-bid qualifiers and the earnest money deposited by them for their circles. As per the information available with us which is shared by DoT, Telenor India has deposited Rs.1096 crores as bank guarantee which clearly suggests that they are going to bid for 9 circles only and not 13 circles as reported by media before.
Though DoT hasn’t mentioned the circles yet but I’ve carved out details from the money deposited by Telenor which is Rs.1096 crores.
As per the mandate, companies participating in the auction were to deposit bank guarantee which was different for different category circles like for Delhi and Mumbai it was 344 crores and for A category circles it was 172 crores and for B category it was 56 crores and for some it was 34 crores.
As we know, Telenor is currently operational in 9 circles and bank guarantee to be deposited for these circles was-
1. Andhra Pradesh- 172 crores.
2. Bihar- 34 crores.
3. Gujarat- 172 crores.
4. Maharashtra & Goa- 172 crores.
5. UP East- 56 crores.
6. UP West- 56 crores.
7. West Bengal- 34 crores.
8. Kolkata- 56 crores.
9. Mumbai- 344 crores.
Now if you total these amounts it comes out to be exact 1096 crores and that is the same amount Telenor has deposited with DoT. So it is 100 percent clear now that Telenor will continue in 9 circles only.
I also tried to carve out Videocon’s circle from their details but failing to do so as of yet. Videocon has deposited bank guarantee of Rs.648 crores and no combination of circles is allowing me to come to that figure. So it’s also true that Videocon is actually not bidding for 17 circles. It is going for lesser circles.
Idea’s bank guarantee shows they are bidding for their lost 7 circles only while Airtel going for 4 C category and 1 B category circle combination. Vodafone has deposited Rs.229 crores which indicate they are also not going for 17 circles. It may be 8-11 only.

i feel that ” Telewing” Brand name will be better. I feel that apart from the Cartel of Airtel-Idea-Vodafone these operators should also be thr otherwise the cartel will kill the market by increasing the rates whenever they want.
