After Videocon, now India's leading CDMA and GSM Mobile service operator Tata Teleservices is believed to have withdrawn its application for bidding of airwaves in the 800 Mhz band in 3 circles which would be used for CDMA operations as TelecomTalk 's multiple exclusive sources confirmed.

Few days back, Videocon has also withdrawn its bid for CDMA spectrum so as of now there will be no auction for CDMA and Govt plans for 800 Mhz spectrum auction seems flop.

On October 29, Tata Teleservices has announced as a pre-qualifier in bidding process by Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The last date for withdrawing applications is 5 November.

As per applications submitted for the auctions, the only two companies were interested in 800 mhz are Tata Teleservices (TTL) and Videcon Telecommunications. Now both has been withdrawn their bid for the 800 Mhz  CDMA spectrum.

Tata Teleservices which wants to get back the three circles it lost last time after the Supreme Court cancelled 122 licenses earlier this year. But now it seems that operator realized, CDMA is not lucrative for telecom business in India.

Another CDMA operators Reliance Communications (Rcom) and Sistema Shyam (MTS India) have already stayed away from the auctions entirely.

The 2G spectrum auction is to take place on November 12 and the final list of bidders to be announced on November 6. This will be followed by a mock auction on November 7 and 8 and thereafter the e-auction of 1,800 MHz band will take place on November 12.
