Tata Teleservices Limited (TTL) has added yet another feather to its cap as Tata Photon Plus, high speed mobile broadband services has been awarded the coveted ‘Product of the Year 2011’ award for the best innovation under Wireless Mobile Broadband Category, post a rigorous survey conducted by A C Neilsen.
Renowned Ad Guru Alaque Padamse presented the prestigious award to Mr Shashank Pore, Head, Brand Communications & VAS, Tata Teleservices Limited at the award function held in Mumbai.
On receiving the award, Mr Shashank Pore, Head Marketing Communication & VAS, Tata Teleservices Limited said “It is indeed an honor to receive this award and be recognized as the best amongst our peers in the industry. all these awards are useless….these all are mocked up awards…today tata will get n tomorrow someone else will get….recently the internet speed of tata photon+ has been extreme poor…. hardly u’ll manage 200kbps….not only in kolkata but also in chennai, hyd n bnglor also……they are not allocating extra spectrum but keep on selling devices……very very poor network

Tata Photon Plus has still not cover Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Badlapur town with 3.1mbps speed .. Just CDMA 1x available and that also never crosses 100kbps speed..

We really cant say that Manisha; I really wondered when I saw some of my friends are so happy with TATAPHOTON PLUS and one of my friends company which generate AADHHAR cards procured more than 200 devices of TATAPHOTON PLUS for their centers and about to procure another 300 this month.
Our expectations at high speed at what we are paying but their expectation is just to get the work done.
Recently one of my friends commented on 21 Mbps of 3G speed “What is the use for me of 21Mbps when my work is completed in 3 mins. No more 3G, No more high price, 2G is enough for me , just 93/- on Aircel”
So, I understand, its all “expectation”. I am using 3G of BSNL from last few months and I really never used fully after the first 1 week. I decided to go back to wireline broadband once BSNL 6 months finished. Or I go for 2G sim as “most of guys moved to 3G and the speed on 2G may be bit improved by now”

Tata Photon is one of the worst services in history..they don’t even go above 600Kbps most of the time.
They sell their plans as unlimited and then say its 10GB unlimited….Tata,rel everyone is a cheater….

Whenever I read news regarding awards in telecom, it is always TATAs. Dont know why.
Photon Plus is not an INNOVATION of TATAs, this auto install modem is very old in EU and USA countries long back by Sierra wireless TRU-Install..etc. Just these guys adopted it early in INDIA and cashing people, where as rest of operators are unable to compete with Tortoise.
As personally I know TATAPHOTON PLUS never given the said speed to me and “up to 3.1 Mbps” is their hidden open secret. I cancelled this service after month usage.
A C Neilsen, thanks for your survey, please do survey on the operators telling about the speed and what the users getting the speed. I think it is a valid survey and look at providers QOS and customers pocket loss.
