Nopes, MTS also has “locked stuffs”
Tata provides good number of OMH handsets. I am also using samsung MpowerTxt handset which is compatible with any CDMA operator.
In many circles (Bihar/Jharkhand, Kolkata/WB, Odisha) it is offering 1p/2 sec for 1 year and Re1/5 min Local and Rs2/5 min STD in all circles. You have vast choice of tariff plans to choose from..

EMAD IS REALLY MAD, TATA INDICOM IS BETTER THEN UR VODAFONE, IDEA, AIRCEL OPERATORS, TRY CDMA, U WILL REGRET IN UR FUTURE WHEN UR GRANDCHILDRENS ARE USING CDMA.

If u want stay put and afloat, attend to (1) the diminishing network signals (2) introduce more handsets with lesser ear-heating capacity, and of course (3) competitive tariff plans !
