Mr Rajeev Narayan, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Tata Teleservices Limited, said “The people of Punjab have always been the true representatives of the Indian spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation—and most people in the state of Punjab have near and dear ones living abroad. Our new packs surely are cost-effective proposition for these people, allowing them the convenience of affordable calling to these countries. This is our way of thanking our loyal customers, and we are sure this will delight them and bridge all communication gaps between family members and friends.

For some who may still feel that there is no innovation here, as stated by Mr. Gupta, I would like to bring one fact here. There are many operators who are dealing with this price war and seriously speaking they are ust going down the drain due to poor margins. The whole idea was to reduce the price to increase the volumes (Minutes of Usage, which is also known as MOU). But excitement of calling at lower price stays for few days only and then it loses its charm and MOU decreases. This is a great gap which TATA DOCOMO has found for the Punjab customers who have their major portion of families settled in Canada and US, also London. They will surely get the volumes now!!

The next innovation after all this price decrement would be to move the networks to IP, which will compensate for the losses companies made on margins. May be that would take another ten years ;)
