Tata Docomo Revised STV35 in Tamilnadu

tata docomo stv 35While most operators are hiking their existing tariff plans to get better marks on profit book, Tata Docomo can’t resist themselves.

In recent tariff revision Tata Docomo has hiked its popular STV35 tariffs in Tamilnadu circle.

Earlier STV35 was offering local onnet calls at 1p/6sec, local offnet calls at 0.5p/sec and STD calls at 1.2p/sec.

But now the pack will offer same local calling benefits but 1st local minute of day will be charged at 1.5p/sec and STD calls are to be charged at 1.5p/sec.

This move makes Tata Docomo’s STV35 is quite unattractive compared to other operators like Reliance, BSNL or Idea in this circle. How do you look at this move from Tata Docomo?

@ csk – hi dude, 1.5 paise for first min means 90 paise, i know tht… in tht 90 paise 30 paise goes to our 1 min call( 1/2 paise per sec rate) and the rest is 60 paise, its for rental… am i right now???

  • CSK September 25, 2012 8:58 am

    @ human
    You r wrong. 1.5p means 90p per min. So Rs.81 + rs.35 = Rs.116 for 90 days

  • Sudhakar September 24, 2012 10:50 pm

    Human :

    Yes.

  • human September 24, 2012 7:40 am

my god, 1.5 paise for first min of the day means that they are charging 60 paise extra daily. that is almost 54 rupees for 90 days… so the cost of pack will be 89 rupees… am using docomo for their lowest call rate although their network is bad here, but now i think that i have to use mnp… welldone docomo, finally you had started showing ur true face…

    S.Sudhakar :Goutham :
Are you really able to browse with the GPRS pack?. The GPRS speed Tata docomo, Aircel (2G), Airtel (2G) and IDEA (2G) is below 10 KB/s (when tested using Huawei E182E data card after disabling flash animation plugin and blocking online ads). Waste.
Reliance GSM (affordable) and Vodafone (costly) gives 10 to 15 KB/s each.
BSNL GPRS gives 20 to 25 KB/s.Aircel 3G (not in 2G network) gives 16 KB/s (128 Kbps) after FUP in unlimited (dual) packs. Dual means unlimited data usage in 2G (2G speed) and limited data usage in 3G speed.I am talking about Tamilnadu circle.

TATA GSM IS VERY WORST IN MOST PARTS OF KARNATAKA. EVEN YOU CAN’T GET NETWORK IN MOST OF THE RURAL AREAS WHERE I NEED TO USE MOST OF THE MAJOR OPERATORS INCLUDING BSNL AND SOMETIMES AIRCEL TOOO………………

  • Saurabh September 22, 2012 10:05 am

Docomo has a Rs.7 plan in Haryana which provides 1p/2s Local+STD to any number for 7 days. To activate you can call 52222. So for Rs.1/day, you can have both local and std @1p/s or 30p/min. Beside this Rs.75 pack gives 1.2p/2s all over India for 12 weeks or 84 days. But Docomo should look at network which is rarely available in villages and very small towns. Beside this 3G is still not available in single town.

    Sudhakar:
what r the 2G packs available in BSNL tamilnadu?

  • Sudhakar September 21, 2012 7:20 pm

    To Sahay :

    In Tamilnadu circle

Airtel – In Rs.60 booster pack, you can send 6000 SMS without any capping per day with 60 days validity. I think the same should apply for other packs also.

Aircel, Vodafone – You can send only 100 SMS per day.

BSNL – 200 SMS per day – applicable for all packs.

Reliance GSM (200 SMS limit per day) – Rs.33 – First 100 SMS per day is free and after that (101 SMS to 200 SMS in a day) – chargeable as per base plan.

IDEA – Rs.18 pack with 20 days validity : (you can send any number of SMS per day and the total limit is 1500. You can’t recharge with any other SMS pack within the 20 days validity period) ; Rs.21 (30 days) – 70 SMS free per day. After the limit, SMS will be charged at base tariff.

Tata docomo – These idiots blocked access to customer care. Info not available.

Videocon – STVs are not getting activated. I think it is going to shutdown in Tamilnadu.

    Uninor – Already shutdown.

  • Jagannath September 21, 2012 5:18 pm

It is now concern that Docomo is doing well in telecom market. But it’s time to improving network coverage all over India.

  • Saurabh September 21, 2012 4:42 pm

In my previous reply Airtel’s Rs16 pack is valid for 90 days. I wrongly mentioned Rs.16 in validity instead of 90 days.

    @Sahay,

You can check Aircel’s website. Select your circle and go to Prepaid-E-recharges. There you will get info on all packs incl. SMS, Internet, Rate Cutters etc.

@Raghu, I know that 30p/min is available everywhere but the price of pack differs and it’s higher in A category circles then B and C. Though RGSM has same price for their master plan which is costing Rs.73/74/75. Due to higher license fee in A category circles, prices of packs are high or if price is same then validity is less.

  • Raghu September 21, 2012 4:02 pm

    @ Saurabh
in AP there are so many offers of 30p/min almost all operators are offering as per AP is concerned but uare right other category circles rates are higher.

  • praks September 21, 2012 2:41 pm

    any thing new for kolkata????????

  • Saurabh September 21, 2012 2:40 pm

It seems everyone is now looking at price increase and it should have been done well before. Until when a company can provide cheaper services on its own? After all they have to recover their input cost.

Most of the operators in Haryana have kept 1.2-1.5p/s as base rate. Airtel base rate is 1.5p/s or 90p/min to all Local+STD and in order to have 1.2p/s plan you have to recharge with Rs.16 pack which is valid for Rs.16 only. It’s still cheap.

Vodafone base rate is 1.3p/s on mobile and 1.5p/s on LL wherever you call. They are charging Rs.19 for 90 days to have 1.2p/s plan.

Idea charging Rs.18 for 180 days to have 1.2p/s on mobile and 1.5p/s on LL.

    BSNL charging Rs.42 for 6 months for 1p/s on-net and 1.2p/s off-net plan.

Aircel (The cheapest in terms of tariffs in Haryana) is still providing 1p/s as base rate on new connections and without any packs. But their Rs.38 for 90 days pack is best and cheapest among all which offers: 1p/3s Local On-Net, 1p/2s- Local Off-Net (Mobile/LL), STD- 1p/s.

Tata Docomo has Rs.124 pack in Haryana which offers 9000 sec Local+STD for 90 days, 100 SMS per month for 3 months and 1GB Data Free per month for 3 months. Beside this if you finis 9000 sec before 90 days, the tariffs are: Local On-Net calls @1.2p/ 3secs, Local Off-Net calls @1.2p/ 2secs, STD calls @ 1.2p/ sec.

Beside this operators do have 25p/min or 30p/min plan.

So services are still cheap here. But it is true that in A category circles like Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, T.N, A.P etc. it is not cheap anymore.

  • S.Sudhakar September 21, 2012 2:13 pm

    To Jay :

If you want to make local mobile calls more at Rs.0.30 per minute, then get Reliance GSM (Rs.74 plan voucher with 6 months validity), IDEA (worst 2G GPRS speed) – Rs.22 STV (90 days), Rs.14 STV (60 days) or Rs.68 local and STD (90 days) or BSNL – Rs.35 (30 days).

  • Jay September 21, 2012 2:02 pm

    S.Sudhakar :

    Rs.46 – 4500 SMS* free. Validity 45 days.
    Rs.56 – 6000 SMS* free. Validity 60 days.
