TATA DOCOMO Offers Per-Second Billing for Roaming Across India

docomoTata Docomo the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, today slashed its roaming tariff  introducing per-second billing for all calls made or received while ‘roaming’ across the country, at its existing tariff of 1 paisa per second for both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers.

From Monday, while roaming, subscribers can make calls across India at 1 paisa per second, across all 15 Circles where Tata Docomo has launched GSM services, regardless of which network or type of phone the call is made to.Furthermore, incoming calls while roaming will also be charged on a per-second basis, at 1 paisa per second. With Tata Docomo set to launch its GSM services pan-India this year, this game-changing roaming option will be available across the country.

“We are delighted to announce yet another industry-defying offer to our subscribers—a transparent and pack-free roaming tariff plan of 1 paisa per second for all incoming & outgoing calls, both local and long distance, to all networks and types of phones (mobile or landline). TATA DOCOMO subscribers will need no special packs or pay any hidden charges to avail this offer,” Mr Deepak Gulati, President, TATA DOCOMO, said. “This is in keeping with our promise to offer innovative and honest services to our subscribers across the country, he added.”

“When a subscriber is roaming, most telecom operators in India charge a minimum of 50-60 paise per minute, even when the call duration is less than a minute. Under the TATA DOCOMO roaming offer, subscribers will be charged only for what he or she uses—at 1 paisa per second. For instance, a 15-second call made or received while roaming will elicit a charge of 15 paise only—not up to Re 1 on a per minute basis, as is the industry norm,” Mr Gulati said.

“The roaming value proposition offered by TATA-DOCOMO is a unique and revolutionary idea which symbolizes the spirit of simplicity, innovation and inventive acumen. This offer for all our subscribers who roam across the country is another moment of triumph for the TATA DOCOMO subscriber—and we firmly believe it will create a paradigm shift in the overall telecom experience for the customer and provide a service that is refreshingly different,” Mr Gurinder Singh Sandhu, Head, Marketing, TATA DOCOMO, said. “We have always believed that in a market that is cluttered with many operators and confusing options, it is our simplicity and transparency that will liberate subscribers,” Mr Sandhu added.

I think Tata Docomo is losing its grip over network issue though they have come up with a good plan which made other operators to abide by tata docomos plan but if tata docomo improves its network and come up with more cell sites condition might improve but docomo are busy in conducting contest

Thats the lesson to upcoming service providers like Uninor, Videocon etc. Those should better concentrate on network rather than offers. To apart from existing operators, new operators should offer innovative tariffs as much possible but without compromising with network standards.

DOCOMO ka sab offer abhi baki sab old operator ke saath available hai. uski networ abhi bhi utna strong nahi hain. usko thora aur time lagega. sabhi docomo connection din ke 90% time switched off raheti hai. koi bhi usko use nahi karta.

u r absolutely right. reliance show tariff validity of 1 year. whereas in the advt, they show lifetime rate. trai must act on such misleading advt.

after 1 year no one knows what will happen to the call rates. I think after 6 months call rates will be 0.5 paisa/sec. so lifetime or 1 year dont fight… just wait till NMP.

Every one is telling that this operator is copying that operator’s tariff plan. But have u noticed, that no new operator is copying old operators’ like airtel, vodafone’s network.Actually they can’t copy the network of vodafone. That’s why they r seeking customers on the basis of tariff.I agree that tariff is a matter to consider while taking a sim,but network quality is the one which we consider or we should consider the most imp.So don’t get attracted by the new operators’ tariff plan.Thande dimag se socho. We r not so poor that we can’t bear the cost of old operators’ tariff plans. There is not so much difference between the monthly expenditure if we take old operators’ sim, compared to new operators’.

All the ROME was not built in a DAY… The same goes for Airtel/Vodafone’s network strength, It took many years for them to get current network ability… We should give few months time for Docomo to get strong network strength..

Further Airtel’s frequency allotted in most circles are 900MHz, while that of Docomo and RGSM are 1800MHz only, which in turn needs almost 40% more towers to get comparable coverage with Airtel… But still Docomo is building network very fast, due to various reasons like tower-sharing with BSNL, Japan Docomo’s expertise in technology, etc…

So What is the problem of using old network’s SIM and Docomo’s SIM simultaneously, during the time Docomo builds its network??? If you are on coverage of Docomo, use it, else use your old number… Even if your call gets disconnected while using Docomo, WHAT IS THE LOSS??? You are going to pay just for the seconds consumed… Regarding the incoming calls, FREE “Missed Call Alerts” will help you… And use the old SIM for FREE incoming also..

    :-) This is what I am doing now…!!! ;-) :D :D

Definitely BSNL has to do because their market share in revenue is reducing and monthly addition on new customers is also reducing. Landline is earning less and less day by day and also customers are reducing. So BSNL has to do something to survive it self

But i think its more a perogative of the big players to make people realize the benefits of staying with them..and built a brand around that (its the old surf Vs nirma story)

In some areas indoor coverage of Tata docomo is not good in hyderabad. Hope they put more towers soon

Now when Airtel is clear leader and Vodafone also doing well again Reliance and TATA goes to GSM service.

docomo n reliance r the best offers now. others hv also followed them but with some riders like (1) calling to other operators @ 1.2 p/sec (2) special packages or (3) like one year validity, etc. or (4) first 1 or 3 calls at normal rate n the from next calls, the rate of 50 ps/min. etc.

docomo n reliance r the ones giving lifetime validity of 1 ps/sec rate. so go for them.

some people don’t appreciate others operators efforts and falsely claim for things what is not theirs. i appreciate tata docomo for bringing 1p/sec billing but it cannot falsely claim to be the 1st one to introduce 1p/sec roaming or reducing roaming rates. it was reliance which did it first.

Tata Docomo has redefined the norms of industry.
Per second billing everywhere-calls,roaming,ISD calls, even VAS-who else has done that?
Talking about Reliance,it is the collateral effect of Tata that it had slashed its rates and per second billing was copied by it(Remember it was last one to follow the suit of per second)..
Yet NONE of operators provide per second Roaming except TATA DOCOMO for LIFE WITHOUT any UPFRONT charges..

does Tata Docomo has 1p/sec, 50p/min and 1Rs/3min and same in roaming too? don’t forget that there is a limitation of 450 min/month for std at 1p/sec. none of the operators except docomo, providing 1p/sec has this limitation. so Tata Docomo brokers on this website F**K OFF…

Yet NONE of operators provide per second Roaming except TATA DOCOMO for LIFE WITHOUT any UPFRONT charges..

does Tata Docomo has 1p/sec, 50p/min and 1Rs/3min and same in roaming too? don’t forget that there is a limitation of 450 min/month for std at 1p/sec. none of the operators except docomo, providing 1p/sec has this limitation.so Tata Docomo brokers on this website F**K OFF…

Guys why are you conflicting for who launched first reducing roaming tariff… I am an analyst covering telecom sector for a long. I make it clear—-
First Reliance launch 3 scheme with life time validity 1p/sec, 50p/min and 1Rs/3minute in roaming too..
then airtel reduce roaming to 60p & 80p.
Tata Docomo is third one who slashed roaming prices.

For find out the latest tariff just browse operator web. All information is available there….

Duane where i said that Reliance giving one paise on roaming without any pack?? just read 1st what i said. Docomo starts One Paisa One second and other operators follows after that Reliance bring 3 new offers with ONE TARIFF for all calls-Local,STD and Roaming. Airtel respond that by Reducing the Roaming tariff BUT Docomo counter the AIRTEL by introducing Default Roaming at 1 paisa pulse.

I will always use all operators except Reliance. Reliance is not trustful at all. I am using aritel and docomo. Its good that docomo has started per sec billing while roaming too and that for life time not like others. I know well that docomo is suffering with lot of network problems but still i will suggest to use docomo for outgoing and other old operators number as incoming. Docomo is far better than aircel. Also, reliance has OK coverage now as it has completed 11 months now i guess but still problem comes with network congestion a lot.
