Telecom Commission Renamed to Digital Communications Commission

The government on Monday rechristened the Telecom Commission -- the apex decision making body at the telecom department -- as the Digital Communications Commission. "To ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the National Digital Communications Policy-2018, the government has decided to re-designate the 'Telecom Commission', established by the Government of India vide Resolution dated April 11, 1989, as the 'Digital Communications Commission," an official notification said. Telecom Commission May Consider Plan to Allow 100% FDI for Telecom Services via Automatic Route

The Telecom Commission, the apex decision-making body of the Department of Telecom, may consider the government's plan to allow 100% FDI for telecom services through the automatic route. Currently, the government allows 100% FDI, of which 49% investment in a company can be done through the automatic route. Telecom Commission questions Trai’s powers to recommend penalties, seeks clarification
