Call Drops: Maximum Complaints Against BSNL and Airtel, Says Manoj Sinha

Telecom minister Manoj Sinha informed the Rajya Sabha that the telecom department (DoT) received 2,622 call drop complaints against state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) between January 1, 2015, and December 6, 2017, even as overall call drop complaints have dropped 5% over the last ten months. Call drop: Ministry asks States to permit mobile towers on government buildings, doubts if telecom operators deliberately cause call drops

As the plans to install mobile towers are hindered by the campaigns against mobile radiation in parts of the country, Government has decided to utilize government building for installation of towers. The results of special audits on call drops to be announced on August 15

The special audits on call drops in metro/capital cities, which Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced early last month, will be filed on August 15. The issue of call drop raised major complaints among the subscribers that eventually led to online campaigns like #NoCallDrops.
