Siri Rival Vlingo Goes Free on BlackBerry

BlackBerry Smartphone maker Research In Motion has made Vlingo FREE for BlackBerry users across the glob as an expression of appreciation for their patience during the recent service disruptions.

Vlingo is a Virtual Assistant, it existed before Apple’s Siri, and allows you to speak to Vlingo and text contacts, search for restaurants and lot more. It combines fast and accurate voice to text technology with the intelligence to listen to what you say, and quickly connect you with people, businesses and activities so that you can get things done while on the go

This stellar voice-transcription application for BlackBerry smartphones does more than search the Web or place a call in response to your spoken command. Vlingo lets you get specific, searching Google as well as updating your Facebook and Twitter status. You can also launch applications, write notes to yourself, and verbally compose a text/SMS or E-Mail message.

This app usually costs $19.99 but it’s FREE for a “Limited Period” and available in the “Thank You Gift” category of BlackBerry App World.
