Subhir, i think you are not clear about the offer of EMI,
and cashback means to make customers fool,. They give 15% cashback on MRP of phone, but in real word you can get the phene already with 15 to 20 % discount in normal mobile shop,. And you are talking about galaxy grand, dont go for MRP of phn, grand is available in less then Rs.17,990 in anywhere in delhi.. and samsung store give 15% discount on MRP of the phn.. use your brain and do some market reached.

My name is Lalit Rai. I have a Standard Chartered Bank Credit Card.

I had purchased a Samsung Galaxy Grand using this credit card under the cash back and EMI scheme that the bank was offering. To make sure that I dont have to bother to log-in every month to pay the EMI I transferred the full ammount due over 6 months to the credit card so that the EMI automatically gets deducted.

Here is when the bank plays around cleverly to fleece us of our hard-earned money, hoping that the customer wouldn’t even notice a penalty of 350 rupees every month. They instead of charging the EMI to the credit card, quietly created another EMI account. Since I had kept more than Rs 20k credit in the Credit-card account, I did not realize that I have to make a separate payment to the PLC account. And the bank quietly charged me a approx. 10% late payment fee on the EMI due (and interest as well) instead of deducting the money from the ammount that I had already transferred to the credit card.

When I found out a month later and called up the bank the lady outrightly told me that it is my fault to not to have understood the process clearly (when no such thing was actually mentioned to me either at the time of purchase or at the time when I had called the bank to seek some other clarification about that transaction).

Its not about the Rs 350 that they have charged me unfairly. I am furious at being cheated. But there is hardly anything one can do against these guys. I have decided to just make the payment and close my savings account and credit card and end all relationship with the Standard Chartered Bank. I hope they will understand that the 350 rupees they fleeced from me has cost them much more in terms of a lost customer.

And I hope that other people will read this and not fall into their trap. These guys put out attractive full-page advertisements in papers announcing special deals for the gain of customers. Actually, these guys never think about the customers benefit. Otherwise how will they make money (on cash back offers with no interest on EMIs). They know that once they get hold of a customer, they can find innovative ways of robbing the customer thoroughly and the poor customer will have no option except to call up and get furious and kick himself for being so gullible.

    Regards,
    Lalit Rai

    Hi

I think Samsung is making fool to all of Indians.Lets suppose you have an icici bank credit card having credit limit of 50000.you have chosen to purchase Samsung grand duos priced at 21,490.icici bank will divide it into 12 installment of 2666/- par month.

Its means you have to pay 21,490 in 12 equal installment and as per as samsung offer 15 % of 21,490 will be credited into your credit card account.what does means of cashback credited into account

Lets me clear the truth of cashback …

1:- Cashback will be added to your credit limit…means you are giving hard cash (15% cashback ) to icici bank and bank will increase your credit limit.

As per as my suggestion, directly goes to mobile retail out-late and negotiate with seller about price of mobile and convert the final agreed amount into emi of 3/6 month using any bank credit card

Please let me know whether are you agree with my comments or not ,anyways you can make the same query to icici customer and can get the answer of it.

  • jai April 11, 2013 5:02 pm

I didn’t understand where is the cash back, as
    1790*12 = 21480.

    • Bhanu April 12, 2013 3:11 pm

EMI total value would be original price of Mobile, cash back will reflect on your credit card account so you can use that cashback amount for other purchase or my be you dont need to pay first two EMIs
      …still confused ? :)

    Not a great deal…..
Eg : GALAXY GRAND is Rs : 21000
Discount price for 15%: 1400 (approx)
so final figure is around : 19600 /-
I think you will get same price for this product in online stores with out this offer. …

    • Akash April 14, 2013 11:09 pm

      21000*15% = 3150 not 1400

  • Sonu Mittal April 10, 2013 11:06 pm

tell me about the whole plan

  • Varun April 10, 2013 9:57 pm

Samsung is cheating it as a offer.Samsung has recently increased the price of all five products saying as per latest indian policy. But this policy is not yet implemented.BUt samsung has done it as soon as the policy has been released in latest budget. And now its selling with less price as offer.

  • Rahul April 10, 2013 4:12 pm

If I read its not to buy together.

  • sayantan April 10, 2013 3:18 pm

looks like samsung has taken customers for granted who the hell will buy 5 products together.

    • frank April 10, 2013 4:11 pm

dude its “any of the 5 products” n not all of the 5 together….but tats not the point….how many of us do have a credit card..

      • Vinayak Pai April 10, 2013 4:55 pm

Even though we may own a credit card, how many of us might have an ICICI credit card one???? The offer is very much for the limited few. Not a great one!!!!!!

        • Suresh April 10, 2013 6:12 pm

Even thoug I have a ICICI credit card, I will not buy this sammy items. Not a great one too !!!!

          • sam April 27, 2013 7:42 pm

Illustrative flow of cash (mobile value used here is only indicative): eg. If the product value is Rs.24000; your EMI will be calculated on Rs.24000 to Flipkart and purchase at 12 months free EMI using any credit card. If the card used is ICICI or Standard Chartered you would get a refund of Rs.3600 into the credit card account on or before June 15th 2013. You pay Rs.2000 per month for 12 months to the bank. If the card used is Kotak Mahindra Bank you do not get a 15% cashback; you pay Rs.2000 per month for 12 months to the bank
