Reliance NetConnect+ Device Price Lowered, Intros Unlimited Data Pack

Reliance NetConnect+ Device Price Lowered Intros Unlimited Data PackReliance Communications, India’s first dual technology company has come out with new strategies to make their EVDO based data services more popular.

RCom has reduced price of Netconnect Broadband+ data cards. Now you can get a Reliance Netconnect Broadband+ data card at just Rs 1599 instead of Rs 2299.

RCOM’s EVDO based high speed wireless internet service is capable of offering upto 3.1Mbps download speed and upto 1.8Mbps upload speed. RCOM has its EVDO coverage in 500 cities of India. You can also enjoy seamless internet connectivity on CDMA 1X (speed upto 153.6kbps) network where EVDO is not available.

Reliance has wide CDMA coverage on pan India basis – connectivity across 24,000 towns and 6 lacs villages, as well as along major highways, railway routes, airport lounges and remote locations in India. You can also roam in any circle with this data card free of cost as there is no data roaming charges. Reliance has guaranteed minimum speed on Netconnect Broadband+ is 256 Kbps, subject to technical feasibility.

Reliance is offering following EVDO USB dongles/data cards/modems: Huawei EC 1260, Huawei EC 168 C, ZTE AC 8710, ZTE AC 2726, Huawei EC150. All are priced at Rs 1599!

With BigRock, RCom also offers free website registration for 1 year which includes: IN domain name (eg. www.yourdomain.in), 15 page website builder with hosting and 10 email accounts (@yourdomain.in).

Reliance also introduces new FUP enabled unlimited postpaid plans for new users only. Plans are nothing new, same Tata Photon+ is also offering.

Plan Name Monthly Rental (Rs) Highspeed usage Usage Beyond Bundled Usage at speeds up to 144 Kbps Monthly Discounts (Rs.) for 1st 12 months
Silver 950 5GB Unlimited 200
Gold 1100 10GB Unlimited 200
Platinum 1500 15GB Unlimited 200

TelecomTalk’s take on new offers & all these plans: With 3G from GSM biggies, CDMA players offering EVDO based high speed wireless internet for a time will be in big trouble. GSM will give subscribers more power – same SIM for mobile or data card, so you can leave or opt any operator depending upon their 3G pricing & coverage. With EVDO these can not be done – Reliance, Tata, MTS do not offer data services on RUIM to use on you own EVDO modem!

Also from my experience RCOM caps Netconnect+’s speed at around 256kbps, which they guaranteed as minimum speed. MTS is offering better – at Rs 2000 you can get the data card with 1 month unlimited (12GB at high speed, 18GB on slow speed); even MTS has better prepaid MBlaze portfolio with Rs 999 unlimited plan (FUP enabled).

i think that evdo should be expanded to pan india soon or atleast to about 1500 cities by december… what tata and mts guys are doing over there… cdma operators should rely heavily on data services because they can’t compete with gsm players in voice services…

Any comments on the Reliance NetConnect+ performance at the new ones of the 500 coverage cities??? Is it any good? Or is it mere marketing gimmick on part of Reliance??

I got reliance BB+ in diwali vacation. After using for two months, I stopped using it. I might have lost 2k in that dongle. If I continue with their exorbitantly priced monthly charges, I would loose a lot in a few months down the lines. Switching to 3G and Universal dongles makes more sense in terms of freedom and savings.

This is absolutely rubbish from airtel. BTW I want to share my little experience about mnp. On Jan 21st, I’ve registered with Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Tata Docomo, Bsnl, Idea & Uninor through their respective websites for porting my reliance gsm no any of them(Rather to check out who is most serious about mnp). Everybody promised to get in touch with me with their representatives after registration. But to my utter surprise, the first & only call was made to me by bsnl. Really BSNL now rocks. In kolkata, I’ve seen significant improvement of coverage, 3g almost everywhere in the city. Customer care is much much better right now. So, the best choice is BSNL & I’m gonna port to it today.

3G coverage will certainly take time to reach EVDO standards especially in smaller cities and towns. Remember that 3G is on 2100Mhz vs CDMA on 800 Mhz. Add to that higher bandwidth and lower congestion on CDMA netowrks.
For 3G stick with operator having highest market share in concerned circle as it ensures they have the necessary towers to give good coverage.

Just checked RCOM Netconnect+ coverage cities or towns at
    http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wireless_internet_coverage.html

The total count now stands at 544 (including few redundant entries).

Especially in TN, they have coverage in about 114 towns. In most circles of India RCOM has 5MHz of 800MHz CDMA spectrum, while TATA Photon has less than 5MHz in many circles, while MTS has just 2.5MHz. This will result in lesser capex/opex for RCOM, for the same EVDO coverage as TATA/MTS.

Reliance Infocom sucks too much money, their customer care is full of arrogant men/women. Don’t get trapped by their advertisement gimmicks. I lost too much money in Reliance Infocom and advise others to keep away from it.

Anyone using BSNL evdo prepaid? Im having postpaid connection and i want to know if there is any possibility of moving to prepaid

I’m using BSNL EVDO Pre Paid in Odisha. To move to Prepaid, contact BSNL CSC. If you are using R-UIM, you have to replace it with a prepaid R-UIM with same number. If your EVDO has no R-UIM but is ESN based, then contact BSNL to get it done.

My EVDO Prepaid is R-UIM based. I’m using 500 Plan.

I am quite happy postpaid user of Reliance Netconnect from Sept-2009. They have very good coverage in Chennai. In my home, I get about 1.1 Mbps consistently. I have also used it in several cities in Tamilnadu.

I think they have a much better coverage than MTS/Tata Photon+, especially with recent EVDO expansion to about 500 cities.

I am using Reliance Netconnect BB+ for last 5 months. Didn’t find anything extraordinary. The monthly rentals with tax is very high, so I’m planning to convert it into prepaid or may also stop the service in the future…Reliance need to reduce the tariffs as soon as possible..

these plans are there for quite some time. And they are just making windfall gains with this kind of pricing.

Broadband is treated as a luxury in india. These companies milk the users here in india heavily, then use the same money for shopping companies in africa and other part of the world !

evdo is a monopoly service by reliance. Better to go for 3G network so that we can choose our own dongles and handsets.

Pathetic plan from chor telecom company reliance….
It would be better if you reduce monthly rental to 400rs and give truly unlimited internet speed and not 144kbps….

    This is certainly not impressive.
When 3G speed are crossing 7.2MBps mark at the same price who wants to use 3.1.

Reliance CDMA team just check with your GSM team for the prices and speed.

BSNL EVDO is for Rs.750 unlimited.

    Jago Reliance Jago
