I have bought 3g sim of reliance few days ago. But i am using this sim in nokia 5233. Which is not 3g handset.
by this i am getting 5- 20 kb speed of downloading.
some times its gprs not works .
so its faild many times with opera mini. Some times its faild to open any page. Opera mini shows message connection faild. But some times its work well
Only uc browser plays well all time with reliance gprs.
so we can say that its fuddu service oprater.
vodafone was better then its speed of vodafone was 10 -40 kb whole day its never faild any time even in evening

This APNs are applicable to only those 6 circles where Reliance is operating GSM services under brand name SMART. Hey sourabh, Actually I am using 3G USB Modem of capitel wireless, model- CWU 720.
so is there any other specific setting for the USB modem?? But the fact is., in my locality Reliance network coverage is very poor, although I haven’t checked it in terms of internet speed. I even don’t need high speed as I m from very core area of Orissa, so expecting more will not suit me.
I need to check my mails daily n lil bit of social networking, this is more than enough for me.

In my area too Reliance GSM indoor coverage is not upto mark but I have USB extension and hang my modem near window and after that full signals.

As you said you are using Capitel Wireless modem, so if it is unlocked one then you can use your Reliance SIM. In dashboard of USB modem i.e the software installed on your pc/laptop, you must have an option to crate new settings. Key-in rcomnet in the APN field and *99# or *99***1# in the dialing number.

Activate a GPRS pack by inserting your SIM in any mobile first if there is no USSD/SMS option in your modem software. Then just insert SIM back and use it.

I don’t trust speedtest.net as it is not able to tell the actual speed and specially when it comes to GPRS/EDGE. Once I tested BSNL boradband speed and on a 2Mbps (max.) connection it showed 4.14Mbps (Download) and 2.37Mbps (Upload). As with GPRS/EDGE, ping time is more it can’t show the exact speed as download sometimes stops.

So I either prefer the two-computer icon in the tray i.e the connection status to check the data getting transferred or task manager as it tells the exact bytes transferred.

See this image and you will understand what I was trying to say regarding Reliance/MDMA.

MDMA (The app used to check network statics and negotiated QoS for internet with USB modems) can be wrong.

This is the second time I ave found MDMA to be wrong:

I’m using Huawei K4505 USB modem. Look what I found incorrect.

    1. On Tata Docomo network, in my area MDMA shows Negotiated QoS as 128Kbps but in actual I get speed more than that upto 256Kbps.

    2. On Reliance, I activated Rs.5 and Rs.29 plan. With both these it shown Negotiated QoS as 256Kbit/s and in my area it gives constant speed between 230-256Kbps, no matter what the time is.

Now I’m active on Rs.51 (2GB for 30 days) plan and it is showing Negotiated QoS as 64Kbit/s. In that case I wouldn’t have got more than 64Kbit/s or 8KBytes/s but in actual I’m getting the same speed between 230-256Kbits/s or 29-32KBytes/s as I got with Rs.5/29 pack even though it is showing 64Kbits/s.

So MDMA can be wrong. Even when I used Airtel 2G pack on Idea 3G network here, Negotiated QoS showing 7232 Kbps but I don’t get more than 40Kbps. Sometimes it starts giving 3G speed by itself but not always.
Idea shows 128Kbps on 2G pack and 3G network and it also gives the same.

He is asking you to first activate Rs.5 plan to check Reliance GPRS speed. To activate Rs.5 pack which will give you 50MB data usage for 1 day either dial *123*005# or SMS M5 to 51234 or dial *777# and follow the instructions.

    Use APN- rcomnet in settings.

There is an information for Reliance GSM Haryana users.

    1. The RCOM website is suggesting that Rs.51 Mobile Net pack provides 2GB for 15 days in Haryana & Punjab but in actual it gives 2GB for 30 days. I activated it few moments back and checked the validity which is ending on December 7th, 2011. The SMS also confirmed that ,”Your Mobile Broadband plan MBBP_51 with 2048MB usage is now activated and will be renewed after 30 days” even tough I e-Recharged it says it will be auto-renewed. But who cares I don’t keep balance more than Rs.20.

    2. Reliance is giving a new offer to its prepaid users. If you buy a new SIM for Rs.60 you will get Rs.60 promo balance with all calls @ 1.2p/s for 1 year. .The twist is on all further recharges in next 90 days you will get double benefits like on Rs.50 recharge you will get Rs.86.66 as balance but only in promo not main. Besides this if you activate any internet/sms pack you will get double validity like if someone e-recharge for Rs.99 internet pack s/he will get 6GB usage for 2 months instead on 1 month. Similarly with Rs.248 pack, 20GB for 180 days instead of 90 days. Offer ending November 15th, 2011

Ask your dealers to recharge with FRC of Rs.44 only. Benefits not on other FRCs.

Question: What Is a DNS Server?
The Domain Name System (DNS) is a standard technology for managing the names of Web sites and other Internet domains. DNS technology allows you to type names into your Web browser like http://telecomtalk.info and your computer to automatically find that address on the Internet. A key element of the DNS is a worldwide collection of DNS servers.

How could you get 933kbps on an EDGE network its impossible to get such type of speed practically or theoretically in on EDGE network because EDGE can carry a bandwidth up to 236.8 kbit/s (with
end-to-end latency of less than 150 ms) for 4 timeslots (theoretical maximum is 473.6 kbit/s for 8 timeslots) in packet mode .if you have any doubt just search EDGE on wikipedia it gives you whole information about technology of EDGE

if your usb modem is 3g use auto mode.speed is not depends on class 32 or 12 for 3g usb modems.
in night somtimes i got maximum 933kbps [only for 1 or 2 second] in edge .

It not true because my nokia e63 which is class 32 edge supported gives around 25-35KBps whereas my brother samsung galaxy s which class 12 edge and also have HSPDA supported 3g moden not give me more than 20 KBps .

    Dear Sir,
I am using Reliance GSM Prepaid number 9*********, Delhi Circle. Today, on 8 oct 2011, Saturday at around 12:25 pm, i recharged my number with Rs. 98, which provides 2GB (3G DATA) Valid for 1 day, but instead of giving 2GB (3G DATA), I got 125 MB (3G DATA) valid for 7 days… So i checked with retailer and also from my mobile number that easy recarge was done with Rs. 98 and not with any other denomination.. Then i called customer care regarding my issue… they also transffered my call to senior department, a senior officer said that sir your number is not mobile number it is dongle number…so they ask me to call at 30335555. They simply are not able to help. Then after calling this number they ask me to forward my complaint at mail address NETCONNECT.BROADBAND@RELIANCEADA.COM… I want my 2GB (3G DATA) PLAN. Help me
This is a big FRAUD done by you…
    Extremely fed up with Reliance.

PREVIOUSLY THEY USED TO GIVE 2GB OF 3G DATA AS UNDER “DAILY PLANS “. BUT AFTER THEY LAUNCHED “FRC 103+ DOUBLE DHAMAKA SCHEME ” IN MANY CIRCLE THEY CHANGED THE PLAN BY MAKING IT A WEEKLY PLAN AND GIVING LESS 3G DATA.
STILL CONFUSED ??????? THEY GO TO FACEBOOK OFFICIAL ITE OF RELIANCE COMM. AND LAUNCH A COMPLAIN THEIR. THEY WILL DEFINATELY CALL YOU BACK.AND GIVE YOU THE CURRENT SCHEME OF RS 98 OF R-GSM G.

i have mailed to nodal officer, tweeted, write on facebook, booked a complaint at customer care… 1 day ago…nothing happened so far.

the speed of rcom gprs is bakwas! very very slow! in mumbai, am getting average speeds of 40-50 kbps during peak hours and no more than 120 kbps during off peak hours. earlier rcom gprs speed used to between 200-250 kbps, but now it has become shitty. rcom is taking its customers for granted! am going to port out of rcom to some other service provider. am sick and tired of rcom.

by the way, anyone, which service provider has the best gprs speed in mumabi?

NEVER TRUST THE FRAUD RELIANCE. THEY HAVE NOT PUBLISHED THESE PLANS ON THEIR WEBSITE. IF YOU RECHARGE IT WILL NOT GIVE GPRS PACKS BUT SOME OTHER PLAN OR TOP UP. EVEN IN THEIR WEBSITE RS.99 SHOWS 2.5GB INSTEAD OF 3GB. SO DON’T TRUST THESE RELIANCE THIEVES. ALSO YOUR DATA USAGE BILLING WILL BE SHOWN MORE. IF YOU HAVE USED 2.5GB (BOTH DOWNLOAD+UPLOAD) IT WILL SHOW AS 3GB.
ALSO, WHEN YOU SEND SMS FOR BALANCE CHECK, MOST OF THE TIMES THERE IS NO REPLY AT ALL. IF CALL CUSTOMER CARE EVEN 100 DIFFERENT TIMES ON DIFFERENT DAYS, THEY WILL SAY THE SYSTEM IS DOWN AND CANNOT CHECK THE BALANCE. IN SPITE OF USSD CODE FOR GPRS BALANCE CHECK BEING IMPLEMENTED BY AIRTEL, TATA DOCOMO, VODAFONE ETC, RELIANCE HAS NOT IMPLEMENTED INSPITE OF REPEATED REQUESTS SINCE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. BEWARE OF THE RELIANCE THIEVES. CHEATING IS IN THEIR DNA AND BLOOD!
I CAN PROVE THE ABOVE BECAUSE I HAVE WRITTEN PROOF OF COMPLAINT TO TOP MANAGEMENT AND EVEN THEN APART FROM MAKING FALSE PROMISES, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE OR IMPLEMENTED SINCE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
I WAS FED UP WITH RELIANCE’S PATHETIC 3RD CLASS NETWORK COVERAGE AND REPEATED BLATANT CHEATING BY FALSE VAS ACTIVATIONS. HENCE I PORTED OUT TO AIRTEL. NOW PEACE OF MINBD AND HAPPY.

Totally agree with you man. Thats why I too changed to Tata Docomo from Reliance. The only problem with Docomo is that its roaming network coverage is poor (but 100 times better than Reliance GSM) but luckily it has strong signal in my area. I mainly use it for GPRS internet.

I like Docomo’s ease of online recharge for GPRS packs, Topups, SMS packs etc. and good responsive customer care. Also, I don’t face unnecessary and false activations with Docomo, unlike Rcom where they frequently, regularly, cheatingly activated VAS services and had the nerves to put the blame on me every time. Also Rcom poor coverage network was a nightmare and I had to struggle to find one decent retailer or reliance webworld which did GPRS recharge because the same was not available for online recharge. I had to run from pillar to post for that. I was sick and fed up of Rcom, thats why I shifted to Docomo using MNP.

How can u download in 40KBPS on 2G wireless?
That’s nearly impossible because theoretical maximum for EDGE on 8 timeslots is 473.6 kbit/s and that too from a crappy operator like reliance?

This reply is for all those who thinks it’s not possible to use 6GB in a month or 2 days on EDGE network.
Let’s take an example, Reliance is providing 40KByte/s or 320Kbit/s speed which it does at my place and that’s too on an average. Sometimes it crosses 50KBps/400Kbps but only in morning time from 4AM-9AM. So we take 40KBps as an average speed. In 1 minute a user getting this speed can download 2.4MB of data. (60 seconds X 40 Kilo Bytes = 2400 Kilo Bytes or 2.4 Mega Bytes). In a hour, he/she can download 144MB (60 X 2.4MB). 1.44GB data can be downloaded if continuously downloading for 10 hours. In this way a pack can gets end in 5-6 days or just 50-60 hours. In general we know a normal use can’t do this but a junkie can. I remember once I had put my phone on charging at 12AM and started a 585MB file and it got completed by 5:30AM on Idea EDGE network. I was using unlimited plan in Haryana on my Himachal SIM(Idea wasn’t charging for internet usage in roaming those days) and at that time and it use to cost Rs.275 on Himachal SIM and Rs.600 in Haryana. As plans were costly, very less users opt of service and speed was awesome. We use to get minimum 30 and maximum 48KBps. So I can say 6GB is not enough for a junkie but for me it’s more than enough. I still have my Himachal SIM active and unlimited plan still cost 275 but now they charge for usage in roaming. Going to roof and then selecting Idea Himachal network is not easy all the time i.e why using net on my Idea Haryana SIM these days. Forgot to tell I’m living in border area of Haryana-Himachal all Himachal networks can be accessed here but only on rooftop. Waiting for S-Tel to bring 3G.

I HAVE ALL THE THE GSM SIM WORKING IN WEST BENGAL AND CHECKED THAT IN DIFFERENT AREAS IN OUR CITY GIVE VARIOUS KIND OF SPEED AND PROBLEM FOR EVERY NETWORK.
1.TATA DOCOMO IS SUPER SPEED AND STEADY SPEED ABOUT 20-30 KBps.But in my home it got disconnected frequenty, where out side is ok.(what to do)

2.INDIA S LARGEST OPERATOR GIVE (AIRTEL) 12-18 KBps

3.vodafone is almost same in AIRTEL but in postpaid they give more speed.(yes)

4.AIRCEL is the best for me in my home area IS giving steady 20-25KBps, because in particular area DOCOMO DOES WORKS BETTER.

5.One side of my town IDEA giving super speed of above 40KBps.. But in my home I never.

6.NOW TURNS TO RELIANCE GSM.. WHEN IT START 3G FIRST IN OUR AREA IT IS GIVING in 2g hacked by 3g 40-100KBps(yes) for at least one month, after that same previous speed of 8-12KBps.

7.LAST LY BSNL… OH NO I HAVE NO NETWORK AT MY HOME.. IT IS ONLY IN MY ROOFTOP AND EVEN CHECKED IT BY SPEED 12-15 KBps.

8.UNINOR IS A superior quality in mobile browsing speed but in download speed not more than 10-12KBps, also there is no steady speed always flactuate as their DP plan.
SO NO PROBLEM GUYS USE EVERY SIM IN EVERYDAY AND CHECK THE SPEED …

99 RS for 6 GB and 101 for Unlimited. So ultimately we have to pay 100 RS because of change rupee problem. So why only 2 RS makes such huge difference here?

    Manish :
What a plan from Reliance this time. I think they thought that people are fool. Friends it is not possible to use 3GB in a month any how with the speed of Reliance. It’s better to choose Airtel. Although it is bit costlier but speed wise AIRTEL is best in all circles.

Might be Reliance is not giving good speed in your area but it’s not the same everywhere. I’ve got SIM of all 8 operators but mostly use Idea. Now the plan has changed but before I use to subscribe 98-2GB pack and it use to got complete within 20 days with a speed capped to 128Kbps on 3G network but there is a consistency with 2G internet on 3G network. I’m not a download junkie at all and use for surfing purposes and 80 percent of total quota goes to surfing. Reliance provides 32-40KBps (252-320Kbps) and you can imagine if a junkie uses it how much time will it take to get complete? 8-10 hours for 1GB data. I don’t use it because of indoor coverage problem at ground floor but if it gets solved, I will definately move to Reliance. You are right that it’s not able to complete 3GB if you get 5-10KBps but it’s not the case here. So it’s a nice plan by Reliance.

Worst gprs voucher for up(e).Either the survey team of reliance is not working properly in telecom circles or reliance is tryin to suicide…. If reliance and airtel r only for 3G customer, den y we 2G user choose dem. No proper local voucher , no std voucher even don ve a good gprs voucher.

These plans are available in Haryana & Punjab from last 4 months. So it’s not been rationalized now. Reliance 2G speed 32-40KBps in my area.
