abhijit :@anujb, my dad do invest in share market. i have seen that companies on stock market have reported about losses. news was there in newspapers. how will it effect? how much it concerns with common man? my dad have purchased shares of idea & mtnl. but both are down. will this per second affect on it?

Without doubt abhijit the revenues are likely to fall. To give you an example, while RCOM, Airtel, Vodafone etc are “mobile service providers”, there is a different set of players in the business called the carriers. these guys offer the trunk groups for carying voice and data from one place to another and charge the service provider for the same. Now we all know that in terms of reach nobody is better than bsnl (because it has landline infra all setup) and bharti (because it in all 22 circles)…in terms of pricing i think the carrier charges about 60-95p per min to the operator for a STD call.
Hence in effect for every minute you talk STD at 50p/60p, the operator is loosing money (unless he is BSNL)..hence with the current tariff regime its absolutely no business case for a rise in profitablity (i think the telecom miniter is speaking towards reducing the termination charge to arund 10p but that seems a few months away)
Even i invest a lot in telecom shares…my strategy right now it go for only bharti and rcom…cause i think this is not sustainanble..clealy there has to be either a consolidation or industry agreement happening within the year..and thats why i think only the diversified big fish with remain in the pond

  • kaushik November 4, 2009 9:33 pm

in this call chart of reliance RC 38 and RC 58 are for 1 year and RC 48 is for lifetime.
I am 100% sure RC 48 will be also of 1 year after customer completes one year with RC 48.Other operators giving this offer for 1 year validity only.Reliance makes a mistake and it cant rectify now, then its loose its idendity. But damm sure within 1 year reliance changes the validity of RC 48

I am not dreaming dude…. In near future voice calls will be free…. And operators will earn their revenue from VAS…..

It quite clear that you dont understand the economics of telecom business buddy…in the current government regime its impossible for them to make it free..and i sincerely hope that they dont…for the sake of the quality of out telecom network…for the sake of my right to make a call that doesnt drop after every 5 secs..for the sake that all telecom companies dont become bankcrupt and have to be merged with BSNL!!

M Ahmad :Waise bhi Reliance at present have the best plans…..And they’ll working on their Network for sure…..Aisa to hai nahin ke bus schemes nikalre hain aur network ko dekhni rahe…..MNP se pehle dekhlena…..Badiya network hojaega Reliance ka…..Aur rahi baat Voda aur Airtel ki wo to Ghamand main hai……Bus Brand Value kharahe hain ab…..They have nothing except the network…. The day GSM(Reliance) has better or equivalent network Airtel ke din khatam hoajenge….

Mere bhai network to tab thik karenge jab revenue aayega??? Dont see reliance becoming a charitable organization anytime soon…getting no revenue and putting up additional capex for network improvement….they are clearly doing this for more spectrum (mr raja’s wonderful subscriber linked spectrum allocation) and do what they only know…increase valuations!!

and for 5 star comment.. your imagination or claim does not make it a reality. market and customers will determine whether airtel is 5 star or 2 star provider. let MNP and customers decide its place and status!

Reliance has Really played smart, It waited for Airtel, Vodafone and Idea to launch per second pulse as reliance knew that these operators would surely have some sort of clause in their per second plan and then After Reliance launching Its Simply Reliance Initiative Would be like a Slap on the Faces of Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and all other operators.. Good Going Reliance… Slap right across those A**hole’s face who want to loot the people.

  • S.J.B November 4, 2009 1:52 pm

  • kaushik November 4, 2009 12:50 pm

after MNP they 100% surely will reduce tariff to being par with reliance

  • amit November 4, 2009 12:46 pm

ab mai kya bolu, uparl sabhi logo ne sahi likha hai, airtel ko uske big subscriber base ka ghamand hai isliye wo apni marzi se aur puri shaan se high pricing karta hai, usko pata nahi kis baat ka gurur hai, abhi no of customers ghatenge waise hi apni aukaat me aa jayega, brand affection bhi ek limit tak rehta hai,kya humesha network ki baat hoti rhti hai ki uska network achha hai!!!
coz airtel is looking for its oversieze business hence z collecting d money from indian people and invest in other country, they don’t think about indian customers.
agar aapka network achha bhi hai to isme jyada paise lene ki baat kaha se aa gayi, aur operator kam paise lete hai to iska matlab ye hua ki un sabhi ka network kharab hai, kaisi bevkoofi wali baat hai
ya fir humare bhaiyo k paas jyada paisa hai isliye bina kuchh pichhe bas bheed k pichhe bhagte hai, kewal itna jaan k ki airtek has 100 million subscribers wo bhi airtel apna lete hai, isiliye to hum utni speed se develop nahi kar rahe hai jo ho sakti hai
bheed k pichhe bhagna band karo ya shahrukh add kar de to kharidna band karo aur apni akal lagao kya aapke liye economic and best hai usko chuno aur sahi decision lena sikho..
    GOD bless u all…

Recharge with STV Rs.58 and All locals/std calls at 1ps/sec and from roaming also incoming & outgoing at 1 ps/sec and sms @ 0.50ps local/National and also from roaming same sms rate and tariff validity is only for 1 year as per Reliance Customer(*333) care here in Maharashtra Circle..

  • naveen November 4, 2009 7:43 am

Actually now reliance has three plans to choose from:

    – For short duration callers, Reliance is launching 1 paise/second single call rate.
    – For long duration callers, Reliance is now offering Re 1 for 3 minutes call rate
    – For those with standard call duration, Reliance will continue offering 50p/second tariff rate

I always keep saying RELIANCE IS THE BEST……. If you are not on Reliance means you have excess money to pay AIRTEL & VODAFONE to make them rich.

  • Tagore Varma November 4, 2009 12:03 am

    @Anuj
Airtel came into existence as foreign firm. Now disgraced Thaksin Shinwatra, the former PM of Thialand, was one of its owners. His Jasmine Communications was the major partner in the venture. Even now, Singapore Telecam owns shares in Airtel. Sunil Mittal gradually took it over with the help of powers-that-be, in unique Indian way of doing business.

  • Anuj November 3, 2009 11:49 pm

Come on..! Airtel is purely an Indian.. You cant say it is a foreign owned just because its offering high tariff..! Not just Airtel; except Vodafone rest all are headed by Indians with majority stake..

  • Tagore Varma November 3, 2009 11:41 pm

In spite of its frailties and business ehtics, it is Reliance which made cell phones affordable for common people. In Hyderabad, even sweepers and scavengers and pushcart vendors use Reliance cells, for which the firm should be commended. Now, it brought the foreign-owned biggies Airtel and Vodafone to their heals by directly challenging their fleecing tarriffs. This is the one more nail in the coffin of Airtel-Vodafone arrogance.

very good plan…keeping it simple in the true sense of the word. Am a little sceptikal of the “%saving” figures mentioned here (cannot see how 25-30%) savings can be achieved…but i guess being reliance they have a right to overstate the benefits….ball’s in airtel’s court surely.

    Anuj :
Oh my god, huge saving.. Last time, only Airtel was on target(Simply Reliance Vs Airtel Advantage)! Now company seems to be targeting all other operators as rest of all have hidden conditions in per second plan. Main target is ofcourse Airtel! Will Airtel react further to this tariff??

Really.. they are coming with a bang in pay per sec!
