Reliance Jio to Use Viom Networks’ Telecom-Tower Infrastructure

Reliance JIO Infocomm Logo_bigReliance Jio Reliance Jio will launch its services across India using telecom-tower infrastructure provided by Viom Networks. Under a Master Services Agreement, Reliance Jio will use Viom Networks’ Pan India Passive telecom infrastructure having a footprint of over 42,000 telecom towers.

Reliance Jio holds a pan-India Unified License and is currently building a network to offer next generation high-speed data services. The company believes that the Indian market is highly underserviced. There’s thus a deep demand undercurrent for reliable (4th generation) high speed internet connectivity, rich communication services, and various digital services on pan-India basis in key domains such as education, healthcare, security, financial services, government citizen interfaces and entertainment.

“From a conventional tower company, we are transforming ourselves as an innovation-driven, data-centric infra solutions provider,” said Syed Safawi, CEO, Viom Networks. We are delighted to partner with Reliance jio and offer our countrywide network infrastructure. Our consistent delivery of high network up time, on-time reliable project delivery capability, and optimal operation and a maintenance cost offer a great value package.”

Reliance Jio is part of the “Bay Of Bengal Gateway” Cable System, planned to provide connectivity between South East Asia, South Asia and the Middle East, and also to Europe, Africa and to the Far East Asia through interconnections with other existing and newly built cable systems landing in India, the Middle East and Far East Asia.

From less than 700 professionals a year back, the RJIL Jio team has grown rapidly to a national footprint of over 3,000 professionals today.

I have checked on Nokia website it is written that – LTE network bands3: 3, 7, 20 are supported and LTE max data speed DL: 100 Mbps, LTE max data speed UL: 50 Mbps in both Nokia Lumia 625 and Lumia 1320…
But I have confusion that will the band which is used by Reliance Jio 4G can work in these two phone or not … Please reply me I have Nokia Lumia 625 and I am very much excited about Reliance Jio 4G.. You can check this link about the phone spec:

    • Rama March 22, 2014 10:13 pm

*Bro Reliance Jio is gonna deploy LTE in band 40(2300 mhz) on a Pan-India Basis. But the good news is that in certain South Indian States as well as eastern and western states Reliance Jio has won 1800 mhz spectrum which comes under Band 3 and is reportedly supported by Nokia Lumias. In order to know if Reliance Jio has won 1800 mhz or Band 3 LTE spectrum in your circle you could refer to the February 2014 spectrum auction results.

*Although I cannot guarantee you that Indian Lumia models will support LTE.

    • Rama March 22, 2014 10:51 pm

*Its really unclear wheter Nokia Lumia 920/625/1320 will or will not support LTE in India.

*The Nokia solutions page says that Indian Nokia Lumia model supports LTE on Band 3 but the LTE support feature is currently disabled and will be provided by a software update, but I really dont know if any such update would be rolled out.

*The wikipedia page says that there are two lumia 920 models that do not have LTE support and I would not be suprised if one of those two models came to India

*A second report says that their is no support for LTE in certain Lumia models.

*All in all the image of LTE support in Lumia models is pretty blurry and nothing definite can be said at the moment.Even if their is hardware support I cant guarantee that software support will be provided at a later point of time.LG has already cheated its customers by giving false LTE software upgrade promise for G2 2013.

*However one thing I can say for sure is that no Lumia model will support Band 40 or 2300 mhz band LTE.

P.S:Just insert www. Before the links and view them or simply search them on Google.

Well guys I jst don’t understand why some guys are waiting for reliance gio desperately. First let them launch, see their services, plans, rates n SPEED. The network band in which reliance gio have been allocated is on 2300 mhz band. Technically there will be worst indoor coverage on this band. I wud wait for 4g services to mature first in india rather than have it ryt nw. As in india 4g services needs to get mature first. Even today most of d places n cities have nt yet get covered by 3G. So why so much hurry for 4g?? For me 3G serves me most of my needs and am getting 9-11 mbps on my AIRTEL 3G using on HTC ONE. So jst b patient. . Let 4g to mature first. .

  • Harish March 18, 2014 2:31 pm

I don’t know why people are impatient for RJio 4G? Do you really need that much speed or do you have the devices ready to be used? Will you invest in handset or dongles if priced below average? I mean there is a hush hush just because people are expecting low priced Internet but let me make clear to you that RJio can’t price their plans more than 10% lower than current 3G/4G plans as this won’t make a business case for them. If price is not going to be too low and many of you already know this then why there is so much impatience? We already have 3G (most areas covered by atleast one operator) which providing good speed as is fulfilling the need.

One thing is clear that most of you want RJio to be there in expectation of dirt cheap prices of Internet which is not going to be the case here then for what? You also don’t want speeds over 20Mbps as 1GB of data at that speed takes minutes to exhaust. Then if expectation is using 2GB of data at 200/month with not much speed then why not go for 3G itself? The most impatient ones are the heavy downloaders and those who want truly unlimited plans and that too at price point like 500-750 which is not possible for anyone to provide as this would kill business of others and we will be again back to situation that happened between 2009-2012.

A simple example for you is Tata and Aircel who got Pan-India spectrum at just Rs. 1651 crores. Even after that they are not available (in terms of network) Pan-India. Aircel shutdown their network completely in 5 circles and also wherever it is available they are struggling. The licenses were cheap but they forget that infra needs much more funds. All this happened due to pricing plans at levels that didn’t reap any profits and at last companies went into huge losses. Cheap pricing attracted many customers but later when they find no network at many places they moved on to other networks and what Tata/Aircel get, nothing out of it? I hope RJio won’t do the same for the sake of their company and the sector itself. They have invested heavily in spectrum and infrastructure which is 10-15 times more than what Tata/Aircel paid for 2G. When they are not able to survive and axed their own foot with their strategy, why you guys want other companies to do the same. RJio will learn from other’s mistake and will keep prices competitive and not cut-throat.

Cheap pricing can bring many customers in starting but in longer terms, it proves to be very inefficient way of doing business. 🙂

Now people are waiting or are impatient but once it gets launched, all these impatient ones will wait for one more year to go for it. 🙂

to launch 4G at 2300mhz is a big challege which i think no company other than reliance can is this reason only why they r so aggressive about coverage.

  • Bipin March 18, 2014 7:51 am

Abe 3g mobiles itne saste to already hain, ab kya chahte ho ki 1000 me mile. Lol

Success tabhi hoga 4G jb unlimited plan ayega, fup ka naatak nhi hoga…

  • UnOfficial March 17, 2014 9:11 pm

ViOM network is going through a tough time, inside news can be sold to/by june 2014 (Reliance)..!
this might be first step taken by reliance in that direction………..

  • Krrish March 17, 2014 8:28 pm

Mujhe lagta he is jio k 4G launch karte karte kisi company ne 5G launch kar dega or tab v jio ne aur jis jis cmpany k sath abhi tak deal nehi ki uske sath deal karte rahenge 😛
ye Jio jitne shor macha raha he, aise kuch v nahi hone bala or itne sare deal k baad v har village me iska network nehi milne wala.
    Dekh lena tumlog.

  • Rama March 17, 2014 7:40 pm

*Bharti Infratel + Reliance Infratel + Viom Networks + Indus towers of airtel . Now I am only guessing that coverage might not be that big of an issue after all.

  • Himangshu March 17, 2014 5:22 pm

Reliace jio, sirf companies ke sath tie up, sharing, buing stakes, etc hii karta rahega,

aree, rjio, tum kog toh apna services toh phle launce karo, pichle 2 years se ek baaat sun raha hu, rjio ne ye kiya, wo kiya, apna services 7-8 mahine mai launce karega, bla bla bla…

mujhe lagta hai, rjio flop hi jayega, agar uska tariff plan cheap nahi hota hai toh

    • Rohan March 17, 2014 6:07 pm

Plan ka toh pta nhi par 3G Mobiles k rates zarur neeche aayenge with 4G Launch.

Waise bhi India me 4G, 2016 k pehle Popular nhi hone wala hai.
There is a logic behind it that who have 3G License they either have to exit or need to lower the Price of Data to dirt level.

      Jio RJio

      • karandeep singh March 17, 2014 6:40 pm
