did any body brought 21 mbps data modem from reliance ?

To get that max 21 mbps speed, you probably have to climb a reliance 3g tower, and keep your phone close to the BTS :J

Otherwise, you might get about few mbps, depending upon how far you are from the tower.

agree with you. Airtel just waste their money on logos and if they use it up for improving the coverage/voice clarity where they are not good that would have been nice.

Reghuji, They spend money like a prospective father-in-law ! All signboards and prints are replaced with this awkward and loathsome logo. I think after a second thought Airtel is now seeking second opinion thru their “name game” fora catchy phrase to trail the abominable creature look-like logo ! Forgive them !That is only our choice !

YES, IF WE COMPARE BETWEEN IDEA AND RELIANCE PEOPLE, IDEA PEOPLE ARE BETTER ONE

We have only 4 service providers with Indian origin (leaving BSNL and MTNL) – Airtel, Idea, Tata and Reliance. Out these Idea has good infrastructural backbone – they achieved this with acquisitions/mergers. Also they started from rural and now have presence in metros too – [From stable (tabeela) to the dairy, I would say ] Others started from Dairy and now are struggling to set up their own stables. The later groups made fast bucks by setting up upteen numbers of towers in metros. Idea followed the foot prints of BSNL and is now a formidable competitor in the cities , suburbs and villages. With this advantages they entered in metros gained formidable success here too with a short span of time !

But the sad part is that though they have GOT IDEA (?) some of the sirjee’s ideas and inverted – like their LOGO (!dea) and this is true the case of VAS (refer the responsive blogs of many in TT). As I commented earlier – Reliance and Tata have their feet in two boats and stand in the midstream unable to cope up with load! The Airtel lost its vigor and is not able to EXPRESS THEMSELVES now ! The money they are now spending for replacements of old logos/signboards could have been best utilized for positioning themselves in the market. The logo is unimpressive (but imitation RED..red and more red ) and of course – and anyway – CHOICE WAS THEIRS ! Rest of all with their foreign roots are trying to cash the market !

It is 10p/10KB till 50 MB and 1p/10KB beyond that.

    Your bill will be:
    40 MB – Rs. 400
    50 MB – Rs. 500
    60 MB – Rs. 510
    70 MB – Rs. 520 and so on…

    100 MB – Rs. 550
    1 GB – Rs. 1450!!!

You are better off purchasing a 100MB pack for 100 Rs.!!

They have everything at their disposal- spectrum, infrastructure an man-power but lacks men with wisdom, of course, in their planning and marketing labs. Other fact – the systems, equipments and paraphernalia are obsolete !. Now ministers and bureaucrats are busy in cover-up and defending the RAJA’s (mis)deeds. Opportunistic technocrats are busy in scuttling the systems (advantage private players) and settling scores thru unions/associations (of MTNL and BSN)!!
Ham sab keliye worst hai and hence life line bee sahi nahi hai !! Let us prey and weait but in the meanwhile don’t fall in traps of private players – they have to recover the money they spent off-line !!

Yes, my friend I do agree. I am not saying tata docomo is right or any other operator is wrong. I want to point out that Biggies who are holding spectrum over 8 MHz are not utilizing it properly. By optimum utilization of these scarce resources they can provide speed upto 256 kbps (EDGE network) even in 2G which will be much better than what is being currently offered.
And about TRAI one of the reader of TT has well said- “TRAI itself is on TRIAL.”

Upenje, The biggies hold or rather board spectrum by virtue, but on account of reflected merit and TRAI can’t do anything, for their recommendations are accepted by DoT if found suitable. Anyway let us hope for the best !

Wow i guess reliance will be cheaper in 3g. Guys i would like to share the game being played by tata docomo from past 1month. Now docomo’s 2G has become very worst. Once it used to offer upto 200kbps in 2g and now ever since they launched 3G tier 2g speed has come down to 30kbps(not KB/S). And customer care ppl say in 2g we get tat speed itself n for more speed switch to 3g.

Same thing here with Reliance. 5 months earlier the speed was upto 225 kbps, Now the speed is 50-120 kbps. Not only speed but “Can not connect” is also a big problem. Periodically 30 minutes connectivity and 30 minutes no connectivity is a headache in my area. It’s a tower problem. I have complained 10-15 times in this regard but no one takes response. Every one starts arguing that network is fine. Please keep your balance above 1rs, Clear your cookies, Select network manually, Install fresh settings, Remove battery and SIM from your mobile and again assemble etc etc. But according to nearest Reliance store there is network problem in our area so they can’t help.

The periodic 30 minutes connectivity is not your local area problem, it is happeining in most of the places. This happens almost 5-7 times a day for 20-30 minutes, many of mine friends at diff. places are also complaining the same problem.

I am in haryana & i m also facing the same no connection for almost the same 30 min. many times a day. But at my places speed in not a problem, i get almost average 29KBps transfer rate with R-GSM & able to download 85-90 Mb per hour if connection doesn’t drop too much.

In USA the price of auction spectrum is less than wht sold in India (keep in mind their GDP)

this is complete loot of public money by Gov,

A raja did right think by giving licence with spectrum free( wrong thing is , operator who get spectrum could not launch the entire service now)

Yes. My experience is also same with BSNL. After pressing ’9′ I get connected immediatly with Customer Care Representative.

Where are those guys who were telling from some internal sources that Reliance 3G plan will be very cheap, like 10rs for 100MB, 50rs for 1GB etc? Again very costly plans. Khoon choosne wala plan hai. 500rs mein 50MB use karne ke baad 1p/10KB. Dolt samjha hai kya? Ab BSNL sirf tera hin sahara. Do luteron ko to dekh liya. Baanki bhi lootenge hin. Please ummeed mat todna.

Internet speed problem in Tata docomo is all because of scarcity of spectrum. They have mere 4.4 MHz spectrum to operate their 2G services. Though their speed is decreasing day by day but still better than some of the operators. TRAI will come out with new telecom regulatory policy in January and all operators who are waiting for spectrum may get in that month. But in my opinion, if by mere 4.4 MHz spectrum they are giving such speed then what about biggies who are currently holding more than 8-10 MHz spectrum in most of the circles. In 10 MHz spectrum an operator can operate EDGE (commonly called- 2.75G) network which is capable of delivering speed upto 256 kbps. So, what these operators (airtel, vodafone, idea, reliance) are doing by holding spectrum around 8-10 MHz in most of the circles ????

Upenji – subscribers can’t held or for that matter blamed for “NOT GETTING SPECTRUM” They could have got this easily through Raja Saab while he was busy making hey ! At that time southern “SUN” was blistering too !
One more point – subscribers opt for a particular service provider expecting good service at all times. Here it is funny situation – Docomo spreads the plats and when subscribers ask for spice dishes to be served , forthcoming answer is that – we did not get ingredients from the mandi (house) !

    Nice one PD !!!!

Guys please read the whole article deeply and carefully. Reliance 3G default plan is 10p/10 kb.
Read this line in article- “The Default data charges will be 10p/10KB up to first 50 MB usage.” Few DATA plans have been already mentioned in this article and detailed voice & data plans will be released out very soon. Please note that presently the 3G Video calling facility will not be available to Reliance 3G mobile subscribers till it gets security clearance, and the operator is hopeful of getting it in the next few days.( it may takes few weeks too)

Till now they deducted balances like 51rs. in name of Gprs pack, 25rs. in name of caller tunes, But now they will be looting in 1000s in the name of 3G. their customer care who didn’t knew What EDGE was, now will be handling HSPA+, HSDPA enquiries.

expensive but good start than DOCOMO. Earlier even in 2G the plans were almost same. It was later due to competion and volume of subscribers the price came down to 99 for 2.5 GB. Hence we can expect lower tariffs later. Good start atlest than DOCOMO.

Now finally I think that 3G in future will be affordable to all.

Once it used to offer upto 200kbps in 2g and now ever since they launched 3G tier 2g speed has come down to 30kbps(not KB/S). And customer care ppl say in 2g we get tat speed itself n for more speed switch to 3g.

Still more difficult days are ahead for 2G users ! While no operator can claim full and satisfactory 2G network coverage in all the circles they have presence, their alacrity and eagerness to hype the 3G is pretty sad. The GSM service of Reliance is worst and no one care even at their corporate customer care centre, leave alone normal customer care centre ! Tata docomo and Reliance who have their feet in two boats (CDMA and GSM) are least bothered to the subscribers grievances ! They unilaterally activates VAS (caller tones, especially)and try to augment the revenue which, in my view, they are spending on 3G publicity ! Time is not far, when they hear the music themselves !!!
