Reliance Announces 3G Video Call Tariff, Local Video Call 5p Per Second

Reliance Communications (RCOM), India’s single largest dual technology telecom operator today announced the Video Calling tariff for its 3G Mobile Services users.

Reliance 3G local Video Call cost will be 5 paisa/sec (Rs.3/minute) while STD Video Call will be charged at 7 paisa /sec (Rs.4.20/minute).

With the Telecom Ministry and The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) clearing decks for Video calling on mobile phones, Reliance Mobile announced the 3G Video Calling service with Day and Night tariff structure. The Reliance 3G Video Calling charges are similar to Tata Docomo but not cheap or affordable as state run Pan India 3G Mobile Service operator BSNL and MTNL.

If we compare the Reliance 3G Video Calling tariff with Pan India 3G service provider BSNL/MTNL that its seems that after Tata Docomo now Reliance Mobile threw water over mobile users who had hopes of “Cheap 3G Video Call tariff” from the private operators in India.  State run MTNL providing Video Calling at just 1p/sec for other network and 1p/2 sec for OwnNet While BSNL charging 30p to 70p/min.

Here are the Reliance 3G Video Call tariff in detail :

    BSNL paid Rs 10,186.56 crore for the radio waves across India, except in Delhi and Mumbai.
    BSNL requested for reimbursement but Finance ministry refused the request.

    If yourself is not aware about the truth, why are you making such challenges…

    Vinayak Pai :
    MTNL and private operators 3G tariffs are not comparable. MTNL and BSNL have not made the payment for the 3G license bids because they enjoy the benefit of being a PSU. Whereas the private cos are paying through their noses. At least these would be the initial tariffs. Over a period of time, maybe after a year or so when the competition picks up we can see lower tariffs(just like the 2G tariff case)

    OK dude.. You wait for one more year. :P

    Till now in India there is no Android device with dual camera to support 3G video calling.
    Same device is seen in Reliance add.
    How come these big companies make blunders in designing their flyers…

    I think you should wait. Voda and Airtel are almost on par. If really want a change in service quality you either switch to some other Operator or wait.

    You learn to better confirm certain things at least from the internet before you post such replies. Show me one article which says that BSNL and MTNL have made payments towards 3G License fees.
    Yes I am very well aware that they have to make the highest amount in each circle bid by the private operators for the 3G license fees. Are you AWARE that their application for exemption from paying the said fees is pending before DoT?????????? Learn to confirm thigs and dont think you are the most supreme of beings

    Bullshit. Looks like u are a DOT member. Bsnl has paid and everyone knows it except u.

  • Ahamed January 23, 2011 8:42 pm

    Sorry Mr Vinayak Pal, Please agree to Mr Gurjeet. BSNL and MTNL have made there payments in the same rate as that of private operators. But it is sure that both of them will not be able to continue their cheap rates. They could enroll nearly 3 million lines as 3G during the last 22 months after its introduction. Everyone know that the revenue earned in this account will not be sufficient to meet the interest amount of spectrum charges!

  • santosh January 23, 2011 8:36 pm

    man it seems that you have certainly half knowledge………………..otherwise asking me the webpage just type bsnl 3g payment in on GOOGLE, you can get the answer and also if you want to know the payment, just read the corporate affairs of BSNL you can get how much they have paid with fine amount just for two days delay…………if not i will provide you the exact webpage link…………and i am not thinking that i know but i know exactly………………and for your information google”s address is google.co.in…………try it or i am here……………

  • Gurjeet January 23, 2011 7:19 pm

    @Vinayak Pai
    sir Bsnl alöne made a payment of 18500
    crores with a fine of around Rs 150 crores for 2 days delay in payment. If u read news read them well as half knowledge is always bad. And secondly govt ie DOT rejected their request for refund.

  • Kanaga Deepan N January 23, 2011 6:47 pm

    Well… I am happy with 3G video calling of BSNL.. In Home circle BSNL charges 70p/min and in roaming just Rs1/min, even for STD video calls in roaming BSNL just charges Rs1/min…

  • Nilesh Patel January 23, 2011 5:54 pm

    I think its time we jump to BSNL/MTNL, these r the only ones who r giving dirt cheap Video calls, am waiting for MTNL to introduce a micro-sim or a smaller contact area sim, if they give me that i will jump within a day, my Iphone deserves a better network unlike Airtel

    hi dude you should know the the facts before commenting on the two PSUs . they have paid the exchequer the highest bid amount for all the circles. and the govt didn’t give them concession even a penny.

  • santosh January 23, 2011 5:37 pm

    is RELIANCE gone mad………….already there is BSNL pan INDIA network has bottom line 3G tariff then instead of competing they are doing just onething………………………………………………….DREAMING. who the customer will go to there as BSNL is available……Do they think that people will go by BRAND name……………..MISTAKE………..

  • santosh January 23, 2011 5:31 pm

    @Vinayak Pai
    Who told you that BSNL/MTNL has not paid the spectrum fees, they are paying at the highest bidder price of respective circle…………Don”T post anything if you know nothing about that……..first clear your data then open your mouth.Both the PSU have paid the 3G spectrum fees, and what about private operator then listen no operator in INDIA has PAN INDIA 3G presence except BSNL/ MTNL. they are more competitive in pricing in 3G segment what may be the 2G sector for them.so be clear about your post.

  • Karthik Kumar V G January 23, 2011 5:28 pm

    I am sure no one is going to use private operator video call service and public operator video call service. The reason will be most will say private operators are priced heavily and for public operator they will still say it’s a “babu” company and will think having public operator 3G SIM is like untouchable thing. So this video call service is going to be utter flop in India.

  • Amit.G January 23, 2011 5:25 pm

    CRAP so much costly!!!! better use bsnl rather than using this cheater company. reliance will def shut its operations due to maximum no of customers who used to spend more porting out to other operators.. love to see reliance getting closed up as it is the prime company in bribing raja,violating rules n creating delay in docomo’s launch

  • Vinayak Pai January 23, 2011 5:08 pm

    • Sanjay Bafna January 23, 2011 8:02 pm

      Dear Vinayak, For your info, MTNL AND BSNL both made the payments for 3G license / Spectrum, even more from private operators. All private operator had option for bid or not to bid, but no Option for PSUs so both MTNL AND BSNL PAID THE HIGHEST BID AMOUNT of their respective service areas. Kindly do not spred false info.

  • Raghu January 23, 2011 5:07 pm

    @Gourav
    tariffs are on par with other operators i think. the biggest problem is their network.

  • Gourav January 23, 2011 4:57 pm

    Tariffs are very bad like their customer service & network.

  • PD January 23, 2011 4:35 pm

    Raghu :
    Reliance please improve ur network in 2G/3G by putting more towers and then introduce customer centric offers like BSNL as otherwise no one will use ur services.

    Agree with you !!!!!

    yes they are cheaper and private operators are more costly. so better we be with BSNL/MTNL

  • rajiev January 23, 2011 4:20 pm

  • Raghu January 23, 2011 4:17 pm

    @Abhijit
    yes as of now it is better to use BSNL/MTNL 3G Only . we can see some sort of tariff war after some 1-2 years only i suppose.

  • Abhijit January 23, 2011 4:13 pm

    worst tariffs. I M feeling better that I am using BSNL-MTNL 3G services for data and video calling.

  • Keshav Jha January 23, 2011 4:01 pm

    Agar khud use karna hai tab to theek hai. Lekin agar subscribers se use karana hai to hum 1/2 pps video call kyon nahin karenge ki 5pps karenge? Reliance ke pyar mein andhe thore hin ho gaye hain. Jab tak ye rate rakhenge, khud use karenge.
