Reliance Communications, India’s largest integrated telecom operator (GSM and CDMA) is now making a fast progress towards readying itself for the 3G-GSM led opportunities.

Moving up the ladder, in an all India bid for 3G spectrum, the company has won 13 circles including the metros of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and is the only operator without capacity constraints on 2G in these circles. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced that it’s EVDO enabled CDMA mobile and High Speed Wireless Internet services (3.1 Mbps Data services) are now available in more than 38 cities/towns of various SSA across the Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle on postpaid and prepaid platform.

The High Speed Wireless EVDO Data services are now available in 38 cities/towns including Ahmednagar, Amravati, Aurangabad, Waluj, Punjim, Mapusa, Miramar, Madgaon, Calangut (Goa), Jalgoan, Kalyan, Vasai Road, Bhiwandi, Dombivili MIDC, NalaSopara, UlhasNagar,Virar, Kolhapur, Kagal, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Deolali, Pune, Mahabaleshwar and Satara.

After the on-going controversy over BlackBerry Services in India, Research In Motion (RIM) today submitted another proposal to the Indian Home Ministry on lawful interception of BlackBerry Enterprise and Messenger Services.

The Govt of India has given August 31st, 2010 deadline to RIM to come up with a solution to address India’s security concerns.

Earlier on August 26, RIM said that BlackBerry Enterprise customers create their own key and RIM does not possess any master key to decode the data. The encrypted traffic is delivered through RIM’s servers, based mostly in Canada, though corporate clients can choose to host their servers elsewhere.
