Operators Are In Tariff Hike SpreeIt is said Ramayan was written before Ram’s birth. Similarly before TRAI’s proposal of limited 2G spectrum auction at huge base price is accepted by DoT and related departments Indian mobile operators are on a run to tariff hike.

Last month we shared that Idea Cellular silently hiked the tariff in form of 1.3p/sec to local mobiles and 1.5p/sec to local landlines and STD calls.

It seems that it inspired other two biggies Airtel and Vodafone to increase their tariff to similar value. Vodafone already hiked their postpaid tariff in Mumbai from 1p/sec to 1.2p/sec. And as the market is growing it is expected that Airtel and Vodafone will offer the same tariff of Idea in all circles.

Telcos already threaten that with the new pricing of spectrum tariff can be more than 30% higher than current offering.

Even state-owned BSNL, whose profit margin often eaten up by social responsibilities is also looking forward to hike the tariff. So as a reader whats your take is tariff hike a real must for operators ? Do share your views via comments.
