There is a good news for all the 3G Lovers who uses 3G services and also roam across the country there is something to Cheer now.
Tata Docomo Customer can now roam on Aircel 3G off-net roaming Effective Jan 2012. There is no change in customer tariff while roaming on other operator 3G network for voice/ sms & data Normal 2G roaming will apply on on-net and Off-net roaming.
This is a bilateral roaming not an ICR agreement for which DOT has opposed. Currently only few states have been covered under the first phase, as per our sources Tata will be launching its 3G bilateral roaming very shortly to other states also.
For example if a Tata customer from Gujarat is roaming in Andhra Pradesh Circle, Customer by default will be latched on to the Aircel network on 3G circle.
We would like to make it clear this is not ICRA Roaming its off-net roaming.

We hope with this tie up the enhancement of coverage of Tata docomo coverage will be at its best.

I think aircel will launch 3G in my city after 2020! So slow development.
Only duopoly of 3G players- BSNL, Idea Cellular (Airtel via ICRA)

Raghu October 2, 2012 at 8:29 pm
cn anybudy tell me…if i purchse a dokomo sim fron haryana ,can i use dis doko 3g service in delhi..(which signal) wih data card. reply
Ketan October 2, 2012 at 4:00 pm
@ Jobins
Since June 2012 here in Maharashtra due to poor network coverage of Aircel & Tata, both operators have facility which enables their customers to access both the networks for better coverage.
This can only be done in automatic network selection, if you select manually then it says SIM card not allowed to access this network.
This is only available on their 2G network.
sai February 24, 2012 at 1:31 pm
@mandar
it is called as bribing DOT and BSNL are opposing on this early you will get bad/good news about this roaming.in the above map shows what is the reason.why they are combined it’s purely illegal.

WiMAX February 10, 2012 at 12:39 pm
i think TRAI set the base price of 2g spectrum license low, but the start up 2g spectrum price will be so costly,, for that lots of company attend the auction but not get spectrum for start their own service and then those telecom company sell their share to other big telecom sector, by this process they are exist in indian telecom market. so after 3 or 4 month we get only 8 to 9 telecom service provider in every circle. as the resource of spectrum is fixed in nature,,,,..

What about users of DOCOMO AP? can they use Aircel 3G in AP?
rahulraj January 31, 2012 at 3:09 pm
hello frnd…. STEL 3g already launched in assam….???
if yes dn its really a good news…
Himangshu Raj January 31, 2012 at 2:47 pm
Hey friends, du u know one thng??? Tata docomo is telling one lie…
i.e FLOP Tata Docomo, i mean its even 2G network is till now NOT launce in Assam circle…..
Than how can this docomo services is tie up in assam circle wid Aircel 3G…..
Here Aircel 3G, IDEA 3G, AIRTEL 3G, BSNL 3G, VODAFONE 3G, RELIANCE 3G and STEL 3G network is available, but Tata Docomo, even its 2G network has not launce yet…..
I think docomo is the most Flop service in India……
So they not launce there services in heart of India… i.e Assam
Kanaga Deepan N January 31, 2012 at 8:52 am
ICRA is illegal… It is just launching service WITHOUT a license on partner’s network… For example, T-Mobile from USA coming to India (NOT GETTING LICENSE) and selling its SIM using say AirTel/TataGsm network… It is illegal… (Similarly TataGSM can’t sell 3G SIMs in TamilNadu)
Bilateral Roaming… It is legal… It is agreement which allows its customer to use the partner’s network (when you have NO network or even license there) during roaming… For example, Airtel/TataGsm customer roaming to USA and using T-Mobile’s network… It is very very Legal… (Similarly TataGsm 3G user of MP circle can use Aircel’s 3G network in TN)
I have given example using International-roaming… But the same idea holds good for 3G roaming also…
Saurabh January 31, 2012 at 8:28 am
@Tarun
Does it means I won’t get charged until the completion of 200MB? I don’t think so.
If Aircel also starts this in its non-licensed areas then I can say that but not now. I have an Aircel Punjab SIM for which company has 3G license and it’s not latching on Tata Docomo 3G in Haryana where it don’t have license. I’m latched on Vodafone network instead, even though Aircel has its own BTS here.
Abhijit January 31, 2012 at 7:40 am
Very Correct… I also use MTNL/BSNL for 3G Roaming & Vodafone for 2G Data roaming..
Abhijith January 31, 2012 at 12:31 am
Next what ?
Saurabh Sinha January 31, 2012 at 12:03 am
@Tarun
This is the biggest drawback of DOCOMO in roaming.
They are offering roaming call rate @ 1P/S (1.5 P/S for old customers) & free roaming for data usage on 2G & 3G packs:- T & C- only in DOCOMO network.
In various parts of north India (including Gujarat & WB), their network goes on Aircel & Idea on Automatic selection of network.
When I manually selected DOCOMO, very weak & irregular signal found.
I am 894 days old customer of MP Telecom Circle & found best signal of DOCOMO in MP.
(Other’s experience may vary from this).
My experience of roaming with DOCOMO was very high expensive.
Finally, concluded- MTNL & BSNL are best for everything including roaming.
Tarun January 30, 2012 at 10:26 pm
Like this is not correct “I will not be able to use that 200MB 3G data and instead I will have to pay 10p/10KB which is charges in roaming.” you will be able to use the data
Abhijith January 30, 2012 at 9:01 pm
So tata docomo 3g going like idea vodafone airtel . .
Himanshu January 30, 2012 at 8:20 pm
There is nothing illegal in that.If Tata can afford to give 200MB@home rates after paying the roaming charges to Aircel, it can do so. It is all the part of bilateral agreement, and depends on how the two parties negotiate.
sayan January 30, 2012 at 7:08 pm
i think there is a little fault in the map.. As per as i know TATA DOCOMO has 3G Licence for Karnataka circle
Fahad January 30, 2012 at 4:41 pm
But if they do allow using this
200MB @ home rates, I will buy
Aircel SIM from Aircel 3G licensed
area. lol………. That will spark an
another row. It will be like doing
illegal work with legality
Lol … Well said…
Thats what is going on with bsnl and mtnl… Hahaha
saurabh January 30, 2012 at 4:05 pm
nice explanation.
Saurabh January 30, 2012 at 4:01 pm
Here is the explanation of this agreement.
Tata Docomo’s 3G licensed areas: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh(W),Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.
Aircel’s 3G licensed areas: Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kolkata, Kerela, Punjab, UP(E), West Bengal, Bihar, Orrisa, Assam, North East, Jammu & Kashmir.
As you can see Tata has 3G license for 9 circles and Aircel has for 13 circles.
As per this agreement Tata Docomo users of these 9 circles listed above can use 3G in 13 circles of Aircel and they will have to pay normal roaming charges i.e even if he has, say 200MB 3G plan active in his home circle, he can use 3G in Aircel circles but at roaming charge of 10p/10KB.
Take an example now. I (Saurabh) am a Tata Docomo Haryana user with 200MB 3G data in my account and I move to Andhra Pradesh for which Tata doesn’t have 3G license but Aircel do. In Andhra Pradesh, I will be latched on Aircel but I will not be able to use that 200MB 3G data and instead I will have to pay 10p/10KB which is charges in roaming.
Similarly if Aircel customer of AP comes to Haryana, he will be able to latch on Tata Haryana 3G network and will pay 10p/10KB for 3G usage.
But if they do allow using this 200MB @ home rates, I will buy Aircel SIM from Aircel 3G licensed area. lol………. That will spark an another row. It will be like doing illegal work with legality.
Saurabh January 30, 2012 at 3:41 pm
Yes they can do but it doesn’t mean that an Airtel Punjab users will be able to enjoy 3G. Airtel has cartel with Idea and Vodafone and only Idea has 3G license for Punjab out of these three. So if Idea starts 3G in Punjab (which is still a distant dream because of legal issues) then customers of Airtel and Vodafone of circles other then Punjab will be able to enjoy 3G. But nothing for Punjab users in it.
Example: You are an Airtel Delhi subscriber roaming in Punjab, you can latch on Idea (when launches) or any other with which company ties up but if you are an Airtel Punjab user you can’t to that without ICRA.
Only Aircel, BSNL, Idea, Reliance and Tata Docomo has 3G license for Punjab.
zeeshan January 30, 2012 at 3:19 pm
@Tata DOCOMO
that is good.
Himanshu January 30, 2012 at 3:02 pm
@User
ICR: I can make customers where I donot have 3G spectrum.
Bilateral Roaming: I have 3G in circle X. My customer from this circle moves to another circle (say circle Y), where My friend has 3G spectrum (but I don’t). My customer can use his n/w while he is roaming in that circle. I cannot make customers there.
ICR is a ploy of Airtel, Idea and Vodafone , to artificially inflate the 3G spectrum. As a result PSUs (BSNL/MTNL) had to pay a very high price for 3G spectrum.
With ICR, IDEA can have customers PAN India by paying just Rs.5768 crores as spectrum fees, while the PSUs pay Rs.16751 crore.
Tata DOCOMO January 30, 2012 at 2:39 pm
@zeeshan, Yes.
User January 30, 2012 at 1:46 pm
what is difference between ICR & bilateral — Essentially does’nt it means same thing … Service available to subs in circles where docomo doesn’t have 3G & they paying to Aircel
Singh January 30, 2012 at 1:31 pm
Cant Airtel do the same for 3G in Punjab ??
zeeshan January 30, 2012 at 12:40 pm
please clearify. If I am a tata customer of MP and have any 3G pack which provides 200 MB data. That 200 MB data of that pack can be utilized while in roaming on 3G network of Aircel like in BSNL and MTNL.
Suku January 30, 2012 at 12:37 pm
DOCOMO ALL WAYS DOING NEW. . . Soon launch 3g for all other circles.
Manil January 30, 2012 at 12:31 pm
WOW this is great news…great move by docomo n aircel…custoemrs from both operators will benefit big time!
