Nokia’s Ovi Store Counting 3 Million Downloads Per Day

Nokia's Ovi store Counting 3 Million Downloads Per DayNokia today announced that its Ovi Store has reached 3 million downloads per day, a milestone spurred by overall global demand and a recent update that gives users of Nokia’s new Symbian smartphone family a friendlier look and feel as well as more popular apps and games.

In a strategic move last month, Nokia announced unified application development around the Qt framework to simplify creating apps for Symbian-based devices and products that will be powered by the new MeeGo operating system.

Since Nokia began shipments of its new Symbian smartphones, starting with the Nokia N8 on Sept. 30 of this year, the top downloaded free app globally was Q Torch, a utility app that turns your device into a flashlight, by CellApp Technology of India (also among top three in Europe, India and Southeast Asia/Pacific).

The top downloaded paid app was Angry Birds, the smash hit game, by Rovio Mobile of Finland (also among top three in North America, Southeast Asia/Pacific and Europe) and the third most popular item downloaded globally was Need for Speed Shift HD, a game that delivers the thrill of high-performance racing by EA Mobile of the U.S. (also among top three in Central and South America, and Southeast Asia/Pacific).

    nice work.
    i have an E-75.
was told to do a software update.
    the phone crashed.
they now say it is unrepairable.
and absolve themselves of all responsibility!
all excuses are being put forth.
the guy at the care centre even said there was no guarantee that after repair, if it was the csae, that this would not happen again.
so now im stuck with a dead phone n tall promises from a company that is loosing market share n doesnt care.
enjoy ur NOKIA till u have a problem.
    then come join the club

I have always said Android cant be what Symbian is and Symbian will be what Android Developers even cant imagine Android to be.
Android is just riding on the hype and and “Google” name, If you look at it, its really nothing into it.
Nokia is Symbian and Symbian is Nokia.. The Best O.S and The Best Company. There is no competition to it.

ALL MOBILE MANUFACTURERS ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO TARNISH NOKIA’S REPUTATION BY CRITICIZING IT FOR NOT ADOPTING ANDROID O.S AND USING SYMBIAN(THE BEST STABLE O.S) BUT THESE FIGURES SPEAK THE REAL TRUTH.THEY WERE ALSO SHOCKED BY HOW N8 WAS DESIGNED AND HOW WELL IT WAS RECEIVED BY THE PEOPLE.MANY DEVELOPERS NOW CRITICIZE ANDROID TO BE MOST BUGGY O.S AND SAY THAT IT CANNOT EVEN HANDLE LARGE SCREEN RESOLUTION(UPTO 2.2 FROYO).
