MTS India the CDMA mobile service operator’s Honeymoon time with Kolkata is over. Earlier we reported of MTS India has withdrawn daily 100 sms pack and introduces new sms packs offering 10p/sms. Now here is another sad news for MTS customers in Kolkata and WB circle that Missed Call Alert service is now chargeable service. However from the launch in these two circles MTS India is offering missed call alert free of cost to all customers.
Now MTS has issued a SMS to all MTS customers in Kolkata circle which states: Missed Call Alert service will be deactivated from 20/03/10. To avail the service reply with with SUB to 50009. Charges Rs. 15/month. That means no more free missed alert from MTS India, pay for them.
In Kolkata circle State run BSNL and Tata Docomo the youngest GSM service operator also providing the Free MCA service. Kolkata telecom circle shows Tata Docomo’s popularity due to its SMS scheme (daily 100 local and national sms free after 1st 2 SMS charged) over Idea Cellular which launched just a week after Tata Docomo’s. New sms packs from MTS will keep the young generation at bay. Though MTS still makes the MSaver95 available to offer local calling at 1p/2sec and STD at 1p/sec for lifetime without no hidden cost or daily rental, these two negative (for the subscribers) steps tell that MTS is changing and following other Indian telecom biggies like Airtel, Vodafone & Idea.

I am using MTS Mobile in Delhi from 1 month and found very good services. But I am facing some problem with Missed Calls Alert, till its free Delhi circle. I get unlimited SMSs for a single missed call. Sometime upto 100 or more than 100 sms for a single missed call………I contacted MTS costomer care through E-mail as well as dialing 155…..please help

Hey free 100 sms after charging for first 2 sms isnt the cheapest. This is just a publicity stunt (idea charges 60 paise for 3 sms a day).
This can be proved by comparing with the 11 rs sms pack of reliance in which each sms is charged at 1 paise.
Comparision (30 days):
Reliance = Rs 11(pack charges)+ Rs 30(assuming 100sms per day at 1 paise) = Rs 41/-
Idea = Rs 0.6*3sms*30days = Rs 1.8 per day * 30days = Rs 54/-
Net excess cost charged by Idea to customers is Rs 13 for 30 days, which is too high. Jago subscribers jago !!! (seriously their idea is surely changing their life atleast)

MTS n/w is good, call rate is cheap – thats fine! even withdrawing free MCA does nt affect me ! … bt MTS did a bad job withdrawing sms packs worth Re1/day for 100 sms/day !

As agnivo says..it is good for conjestion free sms network in future..but not good for loyal MTS customers like me,because me & many other users using mts from the month they launched,mts should decrease the rate,rs 10 is much more good..but one thing i clear to say that i am not happy with this..but here comes a another aspect,the mts n/w of rob is very good..so in my view i almost never need this service due to its good conjetion free superb network..missed call alert service is essential for bad quality service provider users like tata docomo,bsnl,aircel,rgsm..it is not essential for the n/w like vodafone,airtel,mts,tata indicom,rcdma etc..& one thing that vodaföne charges rs30/month for their mca service..so the decission depends upon everbody’s personal needs & views..& the final conclution is that..the quality,customer base,customer satifection,customer vie,arpu etc does not depend on one service like free or not free miss call alert service..because at the end of day the total sevice quality gives the actual conclusiön & i think Mts is very good with this aspect..

MTS DOESNT HAVE ANY SMS PLAN IN BIHAR CIRCLE BUT STILL HAVE FREE MCA.WHAT ABOUT ROAMING DOES MTS WORK IN NON MTS AREA.

Technically speaking, MTS sends a call charge and balance update SMS after each call made by the customer… now that’s because CDMA doesn’t support USSD. So, with increasing customers and calls made by them, the volume of send SMSs increases… Thus, the free missed call alerts adds stress on their messaging server… so, a good move I must say!

welll … a practical joke … the chairman must have changed and someone of a more capitalist thought may have taken over !!! welll a little introspection would surely show that all companies comeout with launch schemes, and later withdraws it !!! just to add a little more fun … companies actually starts charging when its service is more stable and free from technical slags …. so while its on demo mode enjoy all the freebies

Idea did the same in Delhi.. Nothing new.. Operators keep doing these things.. Everyone has to survive in market.. They must have a strategy in place.. I have been using MTS in Delhi and the service is better than Reliance CDMA.. And I have been using Reliance since its launch… So its always advisable to exercise caution while reviewing telecom companies..

mts will just save by thier cost, will not earn any income,
people are not willing to pay, in today’s world of carpet area coverage.
atleast they shud charge something like Rs2/week.

The Russian company is showing its TRUE face now… Or it has gone mad… Atleast it should give that service FREE for old customers and charge for new customers…
Let us wait and see, when will MSaver99 validity will be reduced to six months or a year, because only in 2 circles, it is giving this 1p/2sec offer for LT and in other circles as 6 months validity only…
