Looks like MTS is being serious with data customer ! After messing up with withdrawing of Mblaze (EVDO) High Speed Data service from OMH sim without any prior notice, now Pure CDMA player MTS India has come up with some OMH ready plans starting from Rs.128 for their data customer along with voice.
The new plans are made in the same league of the current 3G plans from GSM operators (except MTNL Delhi) specially 1 GB up to 3x speed + Unlimited Free SMS for Rs.246. No need to mention that it was the TelecomTalk impact as we shared in previews articles from customer end.
Lets have a look on this plans:

Note : 1X = 144 kbps and 3X = 3.1 Mbps Data Speed.
The best part is the above mentioned plans will be available for all customer with OMH sim either with MTS Smartphone or with any other OMH device. If you observer a little then you can see that plans are really competitive with 3G plans which generally gives 1GB at Rs.200-Rs.250 for 30 days seems to be reasonable for use in mobile on the move or playing with some of you favorite apps or be connected with friends and family through SNS.
From MTS officials regarding this OMH plans , it is told by one of them , “In case the customer is currently on 1X data plan and wants to use HSD services; they can choose from a range of HSD packs available. Again, this is irrespective whether the customer has an MTS Smartphone or an OMH device.” .
Our Take on MTS Voice Plans:
But considering MTS being a CDMA operator, it does not have that much of popularity like GSM operators enjoy. Also MTS HSD network can offer upto 3.1 Mbps downlink, while 3G players offers upto 28Mbps network at its best, and on average their network is offering upto 10Mbps to customers. Also HSD/EVDO supported CDMA smartphones are fewer in market. Keeping the data tariff at par with 3G offerings will not make MTS data offerings to voice customers anything attractive. Cut the free goodies like SMS etc with data plans and provide simple data plans to customers at the lower price than 3G-HSPA operators. Also those are buying MTS Smartphones (network locked) should get data plans at a discount for atleast a year. Check out Tata Docomo is offering 1 year 2GB/month HSIA data with HTC Desire VC. Well these are all suggestions, MTS can check these options to make CDMA data business viable in India.
MTS MBlaze Ultra Dongle Price Slashed; Brings Most Competitive High Speed Data Plans
Apart from the OMH ready plans MTS has also done a massive reduction in MBlaze Ultra (EVDO Rev B ) device. It should mention that MTS’s Rev B service is only available in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Customers in Jaipur just need to pay Rs. 1599 to buy an MBlaze Ultra(EVDO Rev B ) dongle and choose from a range of monthly tariff plans available (mentioned below).
Again the above mentioned plans are better than Airtel 4G LTE’s plans though the speed is not upto so high but still Airtel provides 6GB @ Rs.999 with skyhigh priced device (near about Rs.5000) where as customer can get 8GB HSD data at Rs.999 with low priced dongle.
As per MTS officials MTS India website is currently revamping. When this phase will be over it will be more user friendly as promised by them. As per one of their spokesman “As stated earlier, MTS India website is currently being revamped and certain portions are under construction. Once the process is completed, the details on all our products and services including Data Packs for non-Smartphone users will be available online.”

Just receive a message from mts that now unlimited data and unlimited sms is available at Rs. 246. Anybody having any idea? Is there any upgrade on Rs. 178 plan?

TATA DOCOMO CDMA offering only browsing means you cant download anything with these 94 EVDO/HSD recharge. Even you cant watch Youtube with these pack if you use Youtube or any video site then normal data charge will apply as 2/-mb

I am using OMH sim.By withwrawing EVDO on OMH sim,MTS is destroying OMH concept of CDMA.Why will I not get EVDO on OMH sim by default without recharging any data pack? What is the meaning of EVERYTHING IS 30 PAISE PLAN?This plan is for OMH sim also.IN that case what speed will i get for data?Answer is 1x not EVDO.Because EVDO has been withdrawn from OMH sim.I want to know clearly HOW TO REACTIVATE EVDO ON MY OMH SIM,WITHOUT LOOSING EXISTING BENEFIT?
90/140 Rs recharge still available for OMH sim but you will get 1x speed.

@Avishek Ghosh
May be my Luck but I have converted my 2 MTS handset SIM to OMH but no balance deduction in both SIM.
But its true that at the time of 1X data browsing I have received phone calls many times.
And please keep in touch with them , best of luck for that. It would be beneficial for me, as I am also a regular customer of MTS.
Avishek Ghosh August 21, 2012 at 7:42 pm
I know that it’s an automated response. But I am continously in touch with higher MTS officers. As per their response, they are working on it n hope my questions will be answered soon. Just wait n watch.
1x without any balance deduction? Its just your luck n nothing more.
Voice call n active 1x is not possible simultaneously. If ur 1x data is on working /active mode.. Incoming Voice calls are not possible. It’s not a fault of MTS, it’s a negative side of cdma 1X service.

@ Palash
It’s an old news. Follow our articles in TelecomTalk n u will know more..
PALASH PAL August 21, 2012 at 4:37 pm
I just came to know from nodal officer that for EVDO we have to convert our OMH sim to smart phone sim by recharging the smart phone voice and data tariff and for that we will loose our existing benefits/recharge.They will not provide EVDO on OMH sim So good by MTS.

How did he convert his sim to smartphone sim? I’m facing the same problem. Before I converted my handset given sim to OMH and the first two months worked fine with recharges like 90, 140 but now I can’t recharge any data vouchers. They gave me no resolution.
KAPIL K. DEV August 21, 2012 at 4:58 am
Good proposal from Avishek Ghosh to MTS. Hope it will become an eye opener for them.
Anirban Das August 21, 2012 at 2:19 am
@Avishek Ghosh
the reply you have got is probably “Automatic” . Don’t think that they will reply, if they replies then its your luck.
For your kind information I have Samsung CDMA-GSM Dous W279 , which have EVDO facility. with out recharging any pack, I am freely using 1X on OMH SIM , as no balance deduction for that. And INCOMING CALL IS POSSIBLE along with 1X data browsing.
Avishek Ghosh August 20, 2012 at 11:22 pm
One of my friend Sougata converted his mts no to smartphone number. He tried to recharge his number with 122,140,90 but all failed. It’s really irritating n useless policy by mts.
PALASH PAL August 20, 2012 at 8:50 pm
What about the reactivation of EVDO?First of all reactivate EVDO then introduce EVDO plan.
Avishek Ghosh August 20, 2012 at 7:59 pm
@steve
No…I got only acknowledgement reply from them. Hope I will get some answers tomorrow. Hope for the best.
Steve August 20, 2012 at 3:16 pm
nice one….. did you got any reply…..
Steve August 20, 2012 at 3:15 pm
iam 110% sure..but according to tata you are not allowed to do tethering. i prefer to do the 94 recharge coz this is not auto renewal.in 95 its auto renewal and once you send the sms for pack deactivation in 95 your evdo is also deactivated and afterwards wen you reactivate only 1x works so becarefull..i get around 60 to 80 KBps i use it in mobile also and in my router also..i tried tethering in my mobile but it dint work…iam happy using it in router..
Avishek Ghosh August 20, 2012 at 1:40 pm

My email to MTS..
Thanks for the new HSD plans. However I have some doubts regarding all those new plans which need clarification.
1. Details information about these new HSD plans of Rs. 246, Rs. 178 etc are lacking. Are these plans exclusive for MTS Smartphone numbers? Or can we recharge to get the benefits of these packs on our normal OMH RUIMs without converting them into Smartphone numbers? We don’t want to lose our existing benefits like 1p/2sec lifetime, Rs. 122 recharge, SMS plan of Rs.9 and other normal packs by way of converting our normal numbers into Smartphone number only to get EVDO activated?
2. While other operators are providing hassle free 3G activation keeping all existing benefits intact, why MTS is compelling us to do otherwise? Will these new packs cap 1X data packs on EVDO signal after EVDO limit is over? 1X data overrides voice calls on MTS network while EVDO data doesn’t. With 1X data on, incoming voice call is not possible. This is a great difficulty. Kindly consider capping 1X data on EVDO signal only. Also please consider upgrading 1X data to at least 256kbps which is standard on other GSM networks beyond 3G usage limit.
3. MTS’s new EVDO plans are not at all lucrative if compared with other 3G GSM operator packs. Almost all GSM operators are currently providing 3G packs of 1GB for around Rs. 250. But Reliance Smart at 21.4 Mbps, Vodafone at 14.4 Mbps, AirTel at 10.2 Mbps and Aircel at 10.3 Mbps are quite better in terms of speed as well as availability. Among these operators Aircel is the cheapest one, offering 1GB (beyond that 2G unlimited) at Rs. 194. So, how on earth you decided to go for pricing your data pack at Rs. 246 for 1GB while it is damn slow compared to GSM 3G packs (leave aside 4G of AirTel) which can be accessed on plethora of high-end handsets which are openly available in the market. Compared to Samsung Galaxy SIII/ hTc One X/Moto Droid Razr Maxx/ Apple iPhone 5/4S are your MTS branded Smartphones really smart?
4. We have got the news that the GSM operators are going to reduce the 3G data tariff to around Rs. 150/GB from ensuing Pujas as ‘Puja Bonus Offer’. MTNL has already reduced their 3G tariff to Rs. 175/GB. Hence, please rethink over your tariff and make it around Rs. 100/GB so that it becomes competitive (you must be knowing that Tata DoCoMo CDMA is already offering 5GB EVDO data for Rs. 95 and it is available in entire north Bengal, Sikkim and at Asansol and in Kolkata). If your tariff is fixed to Rs. 246/GB, the subscribers will restrict themselves to use it for lesser data usage, but at Rs. 150/GB subscribers will go for full use of EVDO in VOIP video calls/ youtube downloads/ live TV viewing etc and will recharge multiple times in a month. We don’t need unlimited SMS or 1X with 3X packs as bonus; it will be much better if you introduce some affordable packs which offer more amount of 3x data. If you want to provide unlimited SMS/1X you can provide different packs for those.
5. You should make proper arrangements for ease of EVDO activation a la other GSM operators for 3G activation. EVDO activation by a simple SMS or call to CC is at least required. People have very skimpy knowledge on CDMA data. While GSM operators are providing better coverage at competitive price, your Rev B service is restricted only to Rajasthan. But at this point Rev B looks competitive on speed front. To beat the coverage/popularity/freedom at handset choice MTS should consider upgrading network to provide Rev B and reduce tariff considerably otherwise why people will choose MTS?You should also start single tariff structure for HSD; stop different segments like Smartphone packs and non-Smartphone voice & data packs etc. Also please don’t deactivate earlier benefits after activation of EVDO. All voice and data packs should work simultaneously.
6. Please publish advertisement of your new affordable and exciting packs along with activation procedure through tv, newspaper and posters/ festoons etc. Your website should include self-explanatory and exhaustive coverage on new changes especially on data front.
Thank you for your support on the EVDO related issue. But if MTS wants positive feedback from customers, all the above-mentioned points are to be taken into consideration, otherwise negetive feedbacks will again start flowing into blogs and forums. Please try to feel the pulse of the market and make the tariff MNP-proof as soon as possible.
Chinmoy August 20, 2012 at 12:56 pm
Are you sure its EVDO Data (3X) ? 4.5 GB of HSD at 94 and I can do tethering , then it would have been world cheapest plan . I thought its only 1X and not 3X
Keshav Jha August 20, 2012 at 11:51 am
Not a good plan. In 128 only 125 MB??? Launch plans at least as 3G plans.
Anirban Das August 20, 2012 at 2:45 am
Good move by MTS, ………..
Sanjay August 20, 2012 at 12:51 am
MTS is not cheap , their speed is worst we can’t compare with even 3G why did you compare to 4G
theoritacally
MTS maximum speed will be 3.1mbps
3G 28mbps
4G 100mbps
Vikram August 20, 2012 at 12:13 am
MTNL offers better plan but their network is their downside………
Anirban Mukherjee August 19, 2012 at 9:08 pm
@PALASH PAL
Strictly according to MTS , first you have to recharge with any of their above mentioned packs, your EVDO will be activated.
We will suggest you wait a while and keep in touch with TelecomTalk, we will update more.
Bhaskar August 19, 2012 at 9:05 pm
@Chinmoy My dear friend Tata Indicom (Docomo) already had a gud plan of Rs 95 4.5GB one month.
PALASH PAL August 19, 2012 at 9:00 pm
To
Mr Anirban Mukherjee
First of all please inform us how to activate EVDO in our OMH sim.EVDO has been withdrawn/spoed from my number just like other old customers by MTS.How to activate EVDO again? With out activating the EVDO on sim how we get the 3.1 Mbps speed on our mobile?
JIJO August 19, 2012 at 8:28 pm
But many of our mobile users are unaware of these facts. They are always after good looking handsets at the cost of quality and end up with GSM !! what a pity!! CDMA should stay here for great voice quality and reliable calls.
Steve August 19, 2012 at 5:10 pm
CDMA operators have got one plus point they can cover much more distance then gsm and 3g…and the voice clarity also much better then gsm
Amit Deb Biswas August 19, 2012 at 5:08 pm
not good plans at all!!!!!
Steve August 19, 2012 at 5:04 pm
tata gives 4.5gb evdo for 94 rupees on omh for smartphones and the speed is also good than MTS
Steve August 19, 2012 at 4:52 pm
Here in goa Mts has 189 omh plan 500mb 3.1 unlimited 144 kbps
But the problem is once recharged 3x and 1x services don’t get activated
On New card. I had to mail the nodal officer several times to activate
Evdo and 1x on my no.
Avishek Ghosh August 19, 2012 at 4:06 pm
New EVDO/HSD plans are not working with normal EVDO activated(earlier using 6GB@140/-)OMH RUIM’s..I tried recharging my number with 246/- but it shows invalid amount in retailers mobile..
Chinmoy August 19, 2012 at 3:02 pm
good move and better plan than OMH CDMA plan of Tata Indicom( Docomo). Tata wake up now else it would be too late .
krishnendu August 19, 2012 at 1:56 pm
still worse plan there plans are almost same as vodafone 1gb @ 250 approx!but MTS coverage and speed is not even comparable to vodafone in kolkata, leave alone the scarcity of good cdma handsets!
Amit Karmakar August 19, 2012 at 1:41 pm
The impact of “telecomtalk.info”. Good tariff, specially for OMH’s data and voice tariff. One thing they have to do is to increase their EVDO coverage. Good going MTS.
Sudhakar August 19, 2012 at 1:30 pm
To all :
All other CDMA operators (except BSNL and MTNL) force the customers to buy the modem rather than renting them or give the freedom to the customers in choosing the modem. CDMA data access is still waste.
Krishnaprasanth August 19, 2012 at 1:18 pm
I AM FROM KERALA. I AM USING MTS FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS. GOOD SPEED. NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. NOW DATA ON OMH IN A RESONABLE PRICE. I WILL PURCHASE A NEW OMH CDMA HANDSET FROM MARKET. THANK YOU MTS. BECAUSE IT IS 800 MHZ BANDWIDTH, THE COVERAGE IS FAR BETTER FROM THE BTS COMPARED TO THE GSM 3G. I AM LIVING 2 KMS FROM PALA TOWN. NO OTHER 3G IS GETTING HERE. BUT MTS IS FINE HERE.
