Apart from WiFi hot-spot, MTNL also plans to introduce “Roaming Facility” over Broadband services, wherein customer can access their Home or Office Broadband account on their smart-phones or laptop at all MTNL WiFi Hot Spot across the city. With this new facility existing MTNL Broadband customers can access hi speed Internet with unlimited downloads while on move for as low as just Rs.50 a month. The pricing is still being worked out.

According to Agrawal, “MTNL also plans to increase its ADSL Broadband customer base by about 2 lakh in Mumbai circle, presently MTNL has 5.7 lakh broadband users in Mumbai. However, one of the major issues that its facing is cable theft, that eventually makes numerous landlines goes dead. However We have introduced a cable theft circuit system. The moment anyone cuts off or tries to steal a cable, the system activates the circuit and rings an alarm at our control room. We can nab the culprit in minutes, it will help to improve service.”

what 50 a month well i think it will be very difficult to supply enough bandwidth to every one and according to this price point if its litmited than its ok.it is just a copy of taiwan they also introduced public wifi hotspots.

    • Akhil Mohan January 26, 2014 9:19 pm

Dude we live in India. “enough bandwidth to everyone ” does not apply here. :P

How about upgrading your Pathetic HSDPA 3G speeds from 3.6Mbps to HSPA+ 21.1Mbps first?

    • vikas January 25, 2014 4:59 pm

They wont upgrade it and it doesnt matters bcoz still the signal strength would be weak.

    • Kunal January 26, 2014 10:21 am

Seriously they need to upgrade the 3G network, forget the speed, on auto mode it never stays on 3G, always switches to 2G n my lumia only has auto mode :\

      • SS January 26, 2014 10:58 am

In developer option, you can forcefully select 3g network.

Btw, amber update solves some problem of using an icra 3g operator. Now, when i roam with my airtel 3g delhi sim in up east ( highest connection speed 3g), it automatically rejects IDEA 3G. :-)

        • Sagar January 26, 2014 2:49 pm

In airtel 3G how much speed do u get in delhi?

          • SS January 26, 2014 4:16 pm

Max 3 mbps. Avrg 1.5 mbps to 2 mbps

        • SS January 26, 2014 4:17 pm

Select not reject in last line

        • Kunal January 29, 2014 9:13 pm

@SS are u sure, are u talking about the GDR3 one? Cos in the Lumia Black update there isnt any way to force 3G. Infact when i was on BSNL network in Daman, the phone used to stick to 3G even if had only one bar of signal strength which was fantastic, but MTNL leaves 3G even if two bars are dropped !

      • Yo January 26, 2014 2:48 pm

Even reliance in mumbai the same thing it always prefers 2G n if we do 3G nly it shows full coverage but after a hour and half outgoing calls it comes not registered on netwlrk while the net is still ON
Best in mumbai for 3G is Vodafone….Also BSNL 3G via MTNL is better 1 gb 3g@ 139rs but 3g is not available everywhere like in marine lines there is full coverage but as u go towards Juhu 3G coverages goes to 2 bars…..
