Nonsense!!! India will never improve…. Here in the US, we get 30mbps unlimited connection (no FUP nonsense! I have downloaded 100’s of GB’s in data/month without my ISP ever contacting me). And now Google is talking about 1Gbps download/upload speeds with their new “Google Fiber” service that’s rolling out in Kansas, USA (and eventually will roll out in other cities too).

WE INDIANS ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK BUDDY! TRY YOUR LUCK ELSE WHERE!

Elsewhere?? Out of Telecom Talk or India?? What do you mean?? Are you under the impression that I am not an Indian when you say “WE INDIANS ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK BUDDY!”??
    Please explain.

I think you should think again when you say “WE INDIANS ARE SMARTER”, because you are giving a negative signal when you include yourself in “Smarter Indians” category.

REPLYING ON YOUR COMMENT – PLEASE KNOW AND UNDERSTAND BASIC BUSINESS PRINCIPLE FIRST. SCALE BRINGS DOWN THE COST SIGNIFICANTLY! HENCE, THE RURAL INITIATIVE/COSTS OF BSNL IS COMPENSATED BY THE SCALE IF OFFERS I.E PAN INDIA….

All the business concentrate on big cities for good returns on capital employed (ROCE). Only if they see no further growth in those big cities then only they move to relatively smaller cities. Why do they first choose a small scale of just few big cities (according to you) instead of big scale of 50/100/1000 smallest cities?
In business big scale does not mean more geographic area but more people in less area.

WHICH PRIVATE OPERATOR ARE YOU REPRESENTING? AIRTEL? VODAFONE? IDEA? OR ALL THE 3 COMBINED – CARTEL? ANYONE CAN SEE FROM YOUR WORDS THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO MANIPULATE AND FORM A POSITIVE OPINION FAVORING PRIVATE OPERATORS!
    …..
    …..
BSNL’s RURAL RESPONSIBILITY IS A LAME EXCUSE!
WE INDIANS ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK BUDDY! TRY YOUR LUCK ELSE WHERE!

These two statements cannot be linked. Am I favoring Private Operators Or BSNL by giving it a excuse of Rural responsibility.

Vivek :why BSNL is sleeping and not giving such awesome plans to the customers…!! i like the 750 and 1000 plans..!! MTNL broadband rocks..but i am a bsnl subscriber here in karnal (haryana)…BSNL jago !!

    ved :Bsnl is sleeping ……………

magneta :How to convey this message to BSNL?! Good BB plans..

Know that MTNL is providing broadband services only in metro cities. so the cost for providing service is very less. BSNL is providing services in cities(not in metro) and so many remote places. This is the reason for costlier plans from BSNL when comparing with MTNL plans.

    @ Riju
You are perfectly all right!! the operation cost of BSNL will be so high compared to MTNL as BSNL Operates national wide.

i think u r wrong dude.. Operation cost in metro cities is always high compared to other towns & rural areas.. bsnl also provides service in 3 metro cities like kolkata, chennai & bangalore.. But bb plans are also not so cheap there due to high operation cost.. But in rural areas bsnl bb has quite different cheap plans..

Cost of installation/maintenance is very low in metros (high density of population) as compared to non metros (high density of population) and profit is more. Had the reverse be true Pvt operators (Wireline one like Sify, Hathway etc) would have been in Leh, Tawang or Lahual Spiti (they are still the big and known cities of hills) or Jaulaun (UP), Chandrapur (Mahrashtra), Jamnagar (Gujarat). And BSNl cannot give special plans (cheaper) to Bangalore, Kalikata, Chennai or any big cities, as the profit earned from these big cities is utilised to provide basic telephone sevices in the place I mentioned above. But one question really arises about the existence of MTNL. Why it was established to provide cheaper (as compared to BSNL) services to the population of Mumbai and Delhi??

  • Sudhakar December 29, 2011 2:46 pm

As I said earlier, MTNL must give same amount for upload speed and download speed. Only 512 Kbps upload speed for all plans?. Waste. BSNL provides 768 Kbps upload speed for all plans which has speed of 1 Mbps or more.

MTNL is still backward compared to BSNL in terms of UPLOAD SPEED.

Not only Great Plans, but the quality of the service will also be great!! MTNL Provides the speed what they promise, which is laking with BSNL. These plans are really amaizing!! I wish MTNL Should take over BSNL Bangalore.

  • Ashish December 27, 2011 7:05 pm

Not bad offers by MTNL, but it should have been the following instead:

    Xpress Unlimited-600 = 2 Mbps up to 20GB download, 512 Kbps thereafter

    Xpress Unlimited-750 = 2 Mbps up to 30GB download, 512 Kbps thereafter

    Xpress Unlimited-1000 = 2 Mbps up to 50GB download, 1Mbps thereafter

    Xpress Unlimited-1500 = 2 Mbps up to 100GB download, 1Mbps thereafter

    Esmail :
When MTNL mumbai is offering 3.5G HSDPA wireless data with long term packs like Rs.4500 for 180 days, which comes up to Rs.750 per month at 3.6 Mbps without any FUP, why would someone opt for Rs.750 per month for 2 Mbps wire line broadband with FUP of 15GB per month? Isnt 3G on the move more of a luxury than wired line that one can use only in the constraints of his house?

Wireline Broadband has at least one advantage over Wireless one: You get constant speed whereas in Wireless it varies for different factors like your distance from BTS, weather condition, indoor usage etc.
Of course in today’s world of mobility with laptops, a wireless option is better (or sometimes must have).
