MTNL & MICROMAX OFFER 3G MOBILE PHONE AT RS 5499State-run telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) launched the India's first operator branded 3G  mobile phone, in association with mobile phone maker Micromax.

MTNL-Micromax 3G HSPA Mobile phone H 360, will be bundled with new postpaid and prepaid connections of MTNL's 3G Mobile services with some freebies of Data usage, Talk Time and Video calls. It will be exclusively available to MTNL customers at a price of Rs. 5499, which will be the cheapest 3G Mobile Phone presently available in India.




The H360  3G mobile phone is based on the chipset MSM 6246 provided by US-based 3G technology major Qualcomm. The H360 was formally launched today at the ‘India On’ Qualcomm 2009 Conference in New Delhi , attended by Mr R S P Sinha, CMD MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited), Mr Rajesh Aggarwal, MD Micromax and Kanwalinder Singh, senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm India & South Asia.


The 3G Mobile Phone will offer real time development, High Speed Internet with 3.6 Mbps data speeds, 3mp Dual Camera with 4x digital zoom, Music Player, FM Radio, video telephony, besides the inbuilt social networking applications like Facebook and Orkut. It also comes with preloaded Mobile TV applications.


Mr. R. S. P Sinha, chairman and managing director, MTNL, said, “We have had a successful launch of the 3G Jadoo service this year and received an encouraging response from consumers.

With the introduction of the first MTNL branded 3G phone, we are opening up ubiquitous access to a host of entertainment and enterprise applications and make 3G services available to our subscribers at an affordable price. We are pleased to work with Qualcomm and Micromax to bring the best user experience to our subscribers”. "This 3G handset will be for the masses, a breakaway from the expensive handsets available in the market", Micromax MD Rajesh Aggarwal said.

MTNL, which has launched commercial 3G services in Delhi and Mumbai, is hopeful of garnering more customers with this bundling.
