you have some misunderstanding.. BSNL-MTNL merger means not both company is one.. I m telling BSNL & MTNL will treat Maharashtra as one circle from 1st February 2010. That means Tariff plans provided by MTNL will be applicable in Maharashtra BSNL network also.. In MTNL, user will get home Mumabi tariffs as per their plan while in Maharashtra BSNL network.. So no roaming charges throughout Maharashtra from now.. Same with BSNL Maharashtra also whatever tariffs or scheme they provide to users will be applicable from Mumbai MTNL network also.. that means same home network tariffs or scheme for Maharashtra Bsnl user while in Mumbai Mtnl network. that means both MTNL-BSNL will treat as whole MAHrashtra as one circle so no roaming ..
If you know Marathi then read the article of today’s Maharashtra times Marathi news paper & Loksatta paper
@Abhijit, No Its not merger of circles,This is Roam Free arrangement, which comes because all the new operator and some private operator treat all calls between Mumbai-Maharashtra-Mumbai as local but MTNL and BSNL not because BSNL not in Mumbai and MTNL not in RO Maharashtra circle. But now they join hands to provide cheapest connectivity through out Maharashtra including Mumbai. So from 1 Feb MTNL user can make calls to Rest of Maharashtra’s Landline and Mobile as Local and BSNL user can enjoy the same to call Mumbai N/W (Landline/Mobile). Presently MTNL and BSNL user get free incoming call facility while roam in Maharashtra-Mumbai but outgoing charges will count as Roaming but after implantations of this O/G calls will be as local.
@Sanjay Bafna there is no news of this roam -free rates within maha in the mtnl site. but if its true, then its a good move.
