MTNL Flags Off Dedicated Mobile Number Portability Webpage for Mumbai

Following the launch Mobile Number Portability (MNP) Dedicated web page by Vodafone, Tata Docomo, Airtel, IDEA Cellular; finally India’s first 3G Mobile Service operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), today flagged Off its MNP dedicated Web page for Mumbai circle.

However the PSU MTNL didn’t reveled its MNP offer yet, But our exclusive sources said that MTNL can offer Free Connection/FRC with low cost tariff, Free Mobile Internet with 3G Speed and some free VAS to all “Port-In” customers who Switch to MTNL from any other service providers in Mumbai circle.

The much awaited Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service schedule to launch by 20 January on Pan-India basis as earlier we hare on TelecomTalk. According to the MTNL Mumbai, the MNP Port-in charges of Rs. 19 shall be waived off and Free 3G Ready SIM card will be provided for all “Port In” subscribers who Switch to MTNL. The Free FRC and other MNP Offer will be announced with in few days.

As MTNL Mumbai is preparing grounds by launching a dedicated MNP web page giving information about MNP and offerings and also assure its customers to get Next generation 3G Mobile Services with Voice – Video Callings and 3G Broadband experience with most Economical Tariff over its NGN wireless technology.

The company said that with MTNL one can get Truly toll-free Customer Care, Billing Transparency and Anywhere-Anytime Recharge facility.

MTNL Mumbai MNP Process :

1. Port-in customer will take UPC by sending SMS PORT followed by 10 Digit Mobile Number to 1900.

2. After sending SMS to 1900, User will receive UPC (Unique Porting Code) as a SMS from 1901 giving 8 digit alpha-numeric Unique Porting Code (UPC) and UPC expiry date in MM/DD/YYYY format

3. Port-in customer need to submit CAF (application form) and MNP form with UPC Along with Address & Identity proof documents, self-attested photo at nearest MTNL CSC.

4. After that you will get a New MTNL SIM, please retain it. You will get a message regarding actual time of port in, in your existing mobile number, after that you can use your new SIM and MTNL ‘s next generation Mobile and Data service.

mtnl is very bad service in mumbai ,all mtnl execeture are fooling to the customer ,i have a problem to switch relience he will not send me a mnp no ,very bad and mtnl customer care executive is nonsence,he is not have a knowledge about the product ,galti se mat kharidna

Dear Sir,
I want to Quit from TRUMP(MTNL) Mumbai, Sending Illigal SMS. Not activate DND . Many times I have sended request for DND.
and Not Accepting PORTMobile No. Replying wrong syntax of PORT.
I am facing MTNL DADAGIRI.

I have requested for a PORT IN request to MTNL, Mumbai on 25Feb11, but it is rejected by the Vodafone since then. MTNL engineers are trying repeatedly, but request is always rejected. Whenever I send SMS to PORT my mobile number, immediately I receive the porting code, but I receive a rejection note as follows. Vodafone (24/3): Hello! i have applied to port out of mtnl mumbai by sending sms to 1900 with my mobile number and received a porting code.but the deadline has passed by but i have not been ported out nor have i got any sms. upon sending sms for porting again now i have received new porting number.please help me and let me know how to complete my porting since customer care does not have any idea why porting is not done.

Dear Sir, I have Garuda CDMA connection on my cell which has 8 digit number. Since it is only operative in Delhi, I need to change it to some other service like dolphin. Since it is 8 digit number although I am sending message with PORT …, but am not receiving any UPC. Any idea how to get it !!

Hi Sir,
I have ported from vodafone to MTNL in mumbai. On tuesday (Feb 15) my service on mtnl started and I am able to make and receive calls normally. I am able to receive sms also, I am not able to send text messages. I have tried everything, changing message centre number and other settings. Also i have installed MTNL Mobiel TV application, however, not able to use it as it says registration failed, when i subscribe to any plan. I have visited your customer service centre as well, but they had no idea about the issue. Plz help.

nobin :We are facing a lot of problem around Anushakti Nagar(Mankhurd) area.During peak hours I am not able call any one,with error massage showing ERROR IN CONNECTION or NETWORK BUSY.This problem has being there for more than a year.In spite of repetitive complaints from different users no action has being taken to resolve the issue.I don’t see any reason why majority of the MTNL user will not switch their operator.
