MIUI 6 stable update rolling out for Redmi 1S in India

Xiaomi Redmi 1S, the smartphone that re-defined what value for money smartphones meant in India has just started getting itself the MIUI 6 stable update globally. The update will see a rollout in a phased manner globally and will be available as an OTA update. The size of the update is 642MB and comes with the moniker MIUI V6.6.1.0.KHCMICF. The update has started rolling out in India as well.

The MIUI 6 update based on Android Lollipop was launched last year and majority of the current crop of devices run the latest iteration of the update.  The update brings with a slew of new features with it. It now brings LED flash notifications for incoming calls, an updated notification centre with toggle for the music control panel, an updated messages app, system-wide bug fixes and performance improvements. The Android version remains 4.4.4 KitKat post the update and there has been no word for the time being about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Some of the other improvements include better sorting of music, unlocking gesture recognizing mechanism to avoid unlocking caused by misoperation and addition of new icons in the notifications and status bar.
