Micromax partners with MediaTek to launch 4G LTE smartphones, announces the Micromax Canvas Fire 4G

Today, Micromax has announced a strategic partnership with the mobile device chipset maker MediaTek. As a part of the partnership, Micromax will launch a complete range of 4G LTE-enabled smartphones that use MediaTek's mobile processors, and the first smartphone to do so is the Micromax Canvas Fire 4G.

The Micromax Canvas 4G runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and features a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD display, dual speakers, a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and 4G LTE connectivity. It isn't clear yet whether it is a dual-SIM or a single-SIM smartphone since Micromax hasn't revealed complete details about the Canvas Fire 4G.

Micromax Canvas Fire 4G Specifications

  • Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and dual speakers
  • MediaTek MT6735 processor, 1.5GHz quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, ARM Mali-T720MP2 GPU
  • 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and microSD card slot
  • 5MP primary camera, autofocus, LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera
  • 4G LTE (TDD-LTE 2300 MHz Band 40 and FDD-LTE 1800 MHz Band 3), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and microUSB port

The Canvas Fire 4G is equipped with a 5-megapixel primary camera with autofocus, LED flash, and HD video recording abilities, while the front-facing camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels. The battery capacity and the price tag of this smartphone hasn't been revealed yet by Micromax, so you'll have to wait till the company releases some official information about those things. However, we think that the device will be priced well under the Rs. 6,000 price mark.

Micromax has also announced that it will launch a smartphone with MediaTek's Helio X10 processor that is also used in the HTC One M9+. The company stated that it will launch three 4G LTE devices later this month and five more devices in India before the Diwali festive season. Micromax recently launched the Canvas Nitro 4G with an octa-core processor, 2G RAM, and 4G LTE connectivity for Rs. 10,430.
