Please dont buy this one, already same model brands are available in market for 1600 onwards in ebay. I bought one named ‘HAME 5 in 1 wireless router’ about 4 months ago from ebay for INR 1599. Device is working well, there is no upload/download speed as its a wifi device, speed depends on your 3G speed. Only drawback is new modems are not supported (my tata photon max), earlier 3g modems like idea netsetter, huawei other brands, ZTE modems etc are working fine. Good device, it easily works for 2+ hours on battery mode, can carry wherever you go, while travelling, you can charge it via car stereo using usb cable, so always handy even if you dont have a 3g phone, better buy this one and use your wifi enabled smartphone to access internet at high speeds.

Dont buy LAVA, go for other brands available in ebay as all the products are the same, only brand name changes and prices are hiked… :)

Though this product looks sleek and ultra portable, one thing to keep in mind is that it supports 3G and EVDO via additional data cards or dongles plugged into its USB port, it does not have a SIM/UIM slot to support direct 3G or EVDO. For those who may wonder what difference this makes, you can’t exactly consider this as a pocket wifi router if it needs another dongle to be plugged into it, making it difficult to fit into your pocket, also the battery consumption by a dongle will be much higher than the device using a SIM to directly access 3G or EVDO, thus the battery backup wont be much to talk about. If this device had a SIM/UIM slot then it would be worth its current price.

Thats good but it seems download speed of 3G will be 7.2mbps, TT please confirm the download speed

Good deal. 3G dongle would be an expensive choice for wifi. however, BSNL EVDO 750/unlimited can be a pocket friendly solution. Speeds- 1-2 Mbps or sometimes 3 Mbps. (Please take a note that I have never used any CDMA dongle (except Tata photon+ which was fast, good, portable but EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE), all based on feedbacks from my relatives.

For 3G, no great deals but Docomo double data offer and time based plans of Airtel and Idea are good.

yes BSNL EVDO 750/month unlimited is good..i have a question-here in my place BSNL bts for (3g/gsm/evdo) 1 bts for all is 1.4km away from my home and m getting avg. 2.2 Mbps with bsnl 3g so can i expect the same speed with EVDO as its the same bts??

      • SS April 27, 2013 12:26 pm

Yes, if the same BTS has EVDO capabilities. Overall, EVDO BSNL is much better than 3G. Tower is 1.4 km so that doesn’t matter.

If you want to give it a try, please purchase Micromax 300 C dongle (EVDO rev A, 1X) which is a open maket handset(dongle) and use BSNL OMH RUIM (note: CDMA SIM cards are called RUIM).

Micromax 300 C WAS priced 1900 and prices would have gone down. You may not face any difficulties in getting a BSNL RUIM if you have BSNL office in your area. Good part is that you can use any operator RUIM in Micromax 300 C.

Instead you can buy a Hame A1 for half the price from eBay. Exactly the same product. Or a Hame A2 with bigger battery backup.

    • Prashant April 27, 2013 4:12 pm
