Got a new IRIS 501, and I am very happy to have made this decision. I was skeptical in the beginning about buying a LAVA product but this is extremely useful and totally cool with all the necessary features of an android smartphone. Go for it.

I have bought this phone on 19 JAN 2013. Up to date it is running smooth. Games like Temple run, fruit ninja and many more games are working great. Tata docomo 3G gives speed up to 2.1 mbps. video play back on you tube or any other site has no issues.Battery runs 24Hrs per charge for normal use. Both camera works great if you know how to take quality pictures. Sound quality during call is ok so is during music play back. GPS navigation was used and tested many times for traveling to unknown locations and works correctly. Overall phone is good at the price it is available! LAVA has managed to bundle good features at affordable price and at attractive looks too.

LAVA doesn’t provide drivers for it IRIS series of its Android phone (I am presently using the first iris phone N350), which makes it impossible to connect it to PC using USB cable. Review on connectivity:
WiFi: Excelent, It has WiFi hotspot also, connects well with Windows 7 & XP
Bluetooth: Only you can transfer/ receive files and use phone as modem. Other bluetooth services such as- FTP, dialing from laptop etc. are there but not supported due to lack of driver.
USB: only you can transfer & receive file using Mass Storage Device. cannot use phone as modem and cannot connect it using ADB/ fastboot commands due to lack of drivers.

Camera- it is mentioned.
Flash- 10k will fetch u a LED. Not xenon. And Xenon is rare.
3g freq.- You are in india. Obviously a frequency that India auctioned.
LCD type- Its so obvious. CAPACITIVE.
FM- android doesnt supports that. And is not required even.
Do you feel smart enough now?

What the hell wrong with you man???being part of a digital era you are talking like some nonsence shit guy.Do you ever checked how they(GSMARENA) analyze the whole phone and then they showed up with results. They got payment for their reviews. Whereas as a loyal reader of Telecomtalk.info they provide a lot more interesting informations about telecom industry of India and recent technologies. How much they earn from that compared to GSMARENA. Those Indian phone companies never showed up any kind of interest to review their phone. In GSMARENA apple samsung nokia every biggies sent their phones to review in India who gives that shit. I think you not. Telecom talk never gonna payup for this phones and give some awesome reviews about them and i personally we never(except you) expect that. The most nonsense part you are a reader of GSMARENA and you don’t know what kind of touchscreen android support(sic) (:D). Aware of the mrp of this phone which is 9999 you expect a XENON flash .hahahhah. Just google it man. Don’t blame on others rather than you suggest.plz take my advice don’t waste you words about smartphone untill you aren’t smart enough . and pls don’t compare Telecomtalk.info with GSMARENA..Tanmoy well said bro…Long Live TELECOMTALK.INFO

thanks for being true fan of TT!!
I asked several vendors to send their devices for review. Even I told them that I will pay for the return shipping cost. But in WB there are some tax and other issues, they don’t send devices to me. I guess the problem does not occur if I live in Mumbai or B’luru or Delhi.
Tanmoy Sil January 22, 2013 at 6:35 pm
Oh!! yes Rudradeep Da the problem with Kolkata.
Tanmoy Sil January 22, 2013 at 6:35 pm

> Camera – autofocus ot not?.
>>> READ The ARTICLE AGAIN
> With or without flash? – LED or Xenon?.
>>> LED of course, these days that’s the trend. Xenon is mostly used by Nokia.
> Maximum supported 3G speed and 3G frequencies that this phone can support – not mentioned.
>>> 3G on 2100MHz, and upto 7.2Mbps HSDPA. These are common specs, so did give a miss. Don’t know TT readers are not aware of these facts.
> Display – resistive touchscreen or capacitive?
>>> Capacitative. Now all Androids have cap. display. Earlier I used to mention this resistive or cap.
> GPU and RAM – real details needed
Check the official website, no details is given there too. Only if I got the handset, can check out the ‘real’ details.
> FM recordable?.
Try your luck with Android apps.
Rudradeep Biswas January 28, 2013 at 4:49 pm
As I used the phone, FM record is possible!

Seems like processor is cheap then RAM.
When does these people learn to increase RAM for smooth run of applications
Should have at-least 1GB RAM.
Tanmoy Sil January 22, 2013 at 6:34 pm
Correction- *cheaper instead of cheap. *than instead of then in the 1st line.
*will instead of does and running in place of run.
