STD tariff hits a new low, courtsey Tata Docomo, the innovative powerhouse of Indian telecom industry.
Now Tata Docomo customers in Kolkata and West Bengal can make STD calls at most affordable 1paisa/2seconds by paying just Rs 49 for a period of 1 month. Recently Idea Cellular comes with STD & Local @40p/min plan in these circles, and Tata Docomo answers the same with this Special tariff voucher of Rs 49.
It is a limited period offer, you can avail this offer upto 31st August, 2010. It is to be guessed that they will keep it offer if this pack makes success.
With this pack your local calling tariff and SMS tariff will not be changed. There is a fair usage policy of 30,000 seconds in the STV validity period, after the pack expires you will be moved to default STD tariff of 1paisa/second. STV49 can be clubbed with all other packs.

ARjun I agree with u tat Idea Sucks in Karnataka, They Deduct balance without any valid info & also change tarrifs automatically, Ter GPRS speed is worst among all. BUt IDEA’s network coverage is best, Even more than AIrtel!!!!!!! SO KEEP ONE IDEA SIM WITH U WHILE TRAVELLING

Idea mein koi bhi number *# wala dial kar do, service apne aap activate ho jayegi aur balance bhi refund nahi kiya jayega, idea not even sucks but it really f***s

I DON’T KNOW WHY KAUSHIK ROY PREFERS IDEA CELLULAR. KAUSHIK IDEA CELLULAR SUCKS IN 72% OF INDIA ESPECIALLY IN KARNATAKA IDEA IS LOSING CUSTOMER BASE BECAUSE OF SUCKING OF NETWORK, USELESS NETWORK NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CALLING, SENDING SMS AND INTERNET BROWSING. TATA DOCOMO IS BEST IN ALL WHEN COMPARED TO IDEA AND AIRTEL IN KARNATAKA

with !dea u just pay Rs 8 for 365 days and get all local & std calls @ 40 paise unlimited (no FUP)
but with docomo 1 year cost is Rs 588 for 1 year and only 500 mins per month i.e. 6000 mins in a year is applicable for 1p/2sec and rest is 1p/1s (if this plan lasts after 31st August,2010)
also in my opinion !dea network is better than docomo and !dea is present all over india , so no roaming problem with !dea

yes…idea is better option for making std calls.
as we call 500 min then the charge will be 30p(for 1p/2sec)+10p(for rs.49 power)=40p/min.
and if we call less that 500 min per month then call charge will be more than 40p.
So,Idea is best option in kolkata.

we know that effective rate is 40p but idea is charging something for 40p then itr effective rate would be higher. Isnt it?

Docomo changed rule of the game by introducing PPS ( pay/sec). They can change the rule of STD calling also.

well we should forward above calculation to DOCOMO…
to add to above caclulation, one can avail 40P/minn only if he use all 500 minutes
using lesser minutes will end up costing more since he already paid Rs.49 in advance.
so to get full benefit one has to use all 500 min. cost will be 500*40P= Rs.200
spending Rs.249 a month to get std at 40P.

on average if we use only 100-200 minutes at 60p default, it would only cost Rs.60-120..with no packs.almost 30 to 70 percent saving WITH no pack.

almost every operator is more or less providing the same offer. uninor is providing 5-6% discount on per sec call which seems better than others because we have the chance to get really low calling prices.

Well! When it comes to TATA, there is ALWAYS A FINE PRINT! Fair usage policy for 500 mins (8.3hrs) STD??? They should advertise like: Recharge for 49 and get 500mins of STD calls charged at 1ps/2sec!

Sorry! I forgot the only operator which does so is Reliance. However Reliance GSM network is very bad.
I think other network should charge same for outgoing irrespective of home zone or roming.

It means for rs 199(inc. 49 stv) a month we can get 30000 std sec’s and where as in idea for rs 199 we can act. Talk for 498 mins approx…
Both plans r same and offr almost same benifits…but thr is a lìl twist that is per sec and per min…
Better to go for idea whch has no fup and wil suit the people hu talk for hours…
