Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has released the GSM subscriber base for July and its not surprising to see the additions but at a slower rate. A total of 9.89mn subscribers were added to the wireless segment taking the total base to 325.7mn (excluding RCOM & TATA DOCOMO). The subscriber addition in July is higher than June’s 8.89 million, but still lower than 10.8 million recorded in March, COAI said in a statement.
Among the GSM Mobile Service Operators, Vodafone Essar added 2.22mn new users in July, taking its total base to 78.68mn while market leader and largest GSM operator Bharti Airtel saw its total base rise by 2.8mn to 105.18mn. Idea Cellular added 1.42mn new customers, boosting its subscriber base to 48.51mn, while Aircel increased its base by over 1.3mn to 23.1mn.
BSNL added 1.62mn new customers, taking its reach to 50mn. Loop Mobile added 44,897 new subscribers, taking its total to 2.35mn. MTNL added 35,413 new customers, boosting its total base to 4.33mn.
Bharti Airtel continues to be the top GSM operator in the country, with a market share of 32.29% (down from 32.42% in June) followed by Vodafone Essar at 24.16% (down from 24.21% in June). Aircel has a market share of 7.09% (up from 6.90%).

some thing is strange about AIRTEL ( MUMBAI,MAHARASTRA,HARYANA,UP WEST,KERALA )
because AIRTEL is getting very few customers in these circles than the other top operators like Vodafone,Idea

airtel is still getting more customers than vodafone due to their good pan india coverage.vodafone also has a pan india coverage but they had just started their service in 4-5 circles just a year back.but vodafone is really a tough competitor to airtel.i don’t know what happened to airtel in mumbai & kolkata circle.they r not getting customers like vodafone.
i thnk in the recent future idea will surely cross bsnl to become the 3rd largest gsm service provider.aircel is also doing very good in some circles but will face a tough competition frm tatadocomo in many circles where they have recently launched.
