Smart mobile PhoneAll the Mobile phone manufacturers showed off the latest smartphones at World Telecom Expo, The Communic Asia 2009. The expo opened in Singapore, a week after Apple unveiled the iPhone 3GS, featuring a video camera and faster connection speeds.

Following the design trend set by the iPhone, handset manufacturers have incorporated larger screens with a touchscreen interface. Phones featuring multimedia functions and Internet connectivity are classified as smartphones, typically running on fast 3G networks, they work like pocket-sized computers keeping users connected anywhere, anytime.




Samsung unveiled its latest smartphone line-up, announcing with three new Windows mobile smartphones – the Omnia II (I800), and two Omnia Pro devices: the B7610 and B7320. The Samsung Jet – launched yesterday has an 800MHz processor, a 5 mega-pixel camera, and built-in GPS.

Samsung will launch the handset in India for Rs 24,150 by the end of this month. Samsung also showcased the Galaxy (i7500), which runs on Android – Google’s open-source operating software for mobile phones, and the Pixon 12, which features a 12-megapixel camera.

As we cited in our earlier post, LG is planning to launch three different Android-powered devices this year, with more due out in 2010. LG said it will launch 50 handsets by the end of 2009 in the Indian market, and launched three new smart phones at the event. These include the LG-GM730 smartphone which features a proprietary ‘S-Class User Interface’, the LG-GD900 Crystal, which features an alphanumeric keypad that doubles as a touchpad, and the touchscreen 8-megapixel Viewty Smart camera phone.
The 5530 Xpressmusic phone is a scaled down version of the Nokia 5800 phone, which drops GPS and HSDPA support, but provides Wi-Fi, Edge, a 2.9-inch touchscreen and a 3.2 megapixel camera at a pre-tax price of 199 euros (Rs 13,250). The E72, priced at 350 euros (Rs 23,250) is an updated version of its top-selling E71 business phone, which now boasts of a 5-megapixel camera, upgraded UMTS support and HSDPA speeds of up to 10Mbps.
