iPhone 4 8GB vs Moto G: Which one should you look forward to for Rs 15,000

There are plenty of smartphones in the market and numerous are in line to be launched soon. Consequently, competition is rising. Thus, buyers must compare some top choices in order to determine the most suitable handset. Apple is gearing itself up to re launch the 3 year old iPhone 4 8GB in India for Rs 15,000 whereas Motorola is coming back to India with the launch of the Moto G. This smartphone will also come with a price tag of around Rs 15,000. Apple has a brand image to live up to and Moto G has the specs to die for. Its mind vs heart to be precise. Let us have a comparative look at Apple’s iPhone 4 (8 GB) and Motorola’s Moto G:

Built: The dimensions of iPhone 4 are 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm and it weighs about 137 grams. While the dimensions of Moto G are 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6 mm and it weighs nearly 143 grams.

Display: iPhone 4 comes with a LED backlit IPS TFT touch display of 3.5 inches with a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels. On the other hand, Moto G carries a capacitive HD touch display of 4.5 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The latter had Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection too.

Processor: iPhone 4 has been equipped with AppleA4 chipset and Cortex A8 processor of 1 Giga Hertz. Moto G comes loaded with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and Cortex A7 quad core processor of 1.2 Giga Hertz. The Moto G easily surges ahead in this regard.

Software: Apple iPhone 4 runs on iOS 7 while the Moto G smartphone works on Android 4.4 platform. We doubt if the iPhone 4 will get any further software support whereas the Moto G would.

Camera: Both the smartphones feature a rear camera of 5 mega pixels with auto focus and LED flash. They also carry a front facing camera. They both look similar on paper but the Moto G has a slightly better real world performance.

Memory: iPhone 4 offers 512 MB RAM and 8 GB internal storage while Moto G provides 1 GB RAM and 8GB/16 GB internal storage. Both the smartphones do not support expandable memory.

Connectivity Features: Both the devices offer connectivity features such as GPRS, Wi-Fi and 3G. However the iPhone 4 misses out on Bluetooth.

Battery: iPhone 4 works on a battery of 1420 mAh where as the Moto G device works on a battery of 2070 mAh. Need we say Moto G goes ahead in this department too.

Our Take: After comparing the two smartphones, my verdict is in favor of Moto G smartphone as at it is a complete value for money product and is the latest kid on the block. Apple is merely trying to clear its older stocks whereas Motorola is looking to take a strong hold in the market. Moto G it is for me. And you?
