    micromax phone has been
    tested and meets the Government
of India exposure guidelines for cellular
operation. Your handset is a radio transmitter and
receiver. It is designed and manufactured so as not to exceed
the limits for exposure to radio-frequency (RF) energy set by the FCC
and recommended by Government of India. These limits are part of comprehensive
guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general population.
The guidelines were developed by independent scientific organizations through the periodic
and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. The limits include a substantial safety margin
designed to ensure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard
for mobile phones employs a unit of measurement known as SAR. “Specific Absorption Rate,”
or SAR, refers to the rate at which the body absorbs RF energy. SAR tests are conducted using standard
operating positions(i.e., at the head and on the body) with the handset transmitting at its
highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined
at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating
can be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is
designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only
the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are
to a base station, the lower would be the power required by the phone.
This phone follows FCC SAR standard.

Very rightly pointed out. No one knows the value of low SAR. People are not aware of the consequences of high SAR phones.

why should feature phones go away. they are here to stay especially in India. they are like lifebouy or Colgate. whoever ignores this segment will lose market share and revenue

Feature phone market is gradually decreasing because some years back there were no smart phones but now a days peoples are buying because now they have selection choice. Though in emerging countries like India, China and Africa still a huge market for this phones but analysts are suggesting that growth in features phone sales is tending towards low figures. And I was not talking about any county specific so I think you can guess the actual situation.

This only shows the utter disregard to quality. Why cant such a global manufacturer publish SAR values of their phones in their manual? Even after such huge volumes why is nobody questioning them interms of SAR values??

This will only encourage established brands to reduce their quality since it is going to sell anyway… Already we can see a gradual decline in quality in nokia and samsung..

“Micromax is now larger than all Japanese brands, including such famous names as Sharp and NEC. Micromax is ahead of Lenovo (2.6M) and closing the gap on Sony Ericsson (7.6M).”

This is one of the biggest joke ever when Micromax is compared to the quality of the other companies like Sharp, NEC and Sony Ericsson. However may be this companies has lower market segment then Micromax but they have far better and standard build quality products.

All Japanese companies have better quality phones but they don’t have global distribution channel or no mass appeal at all. So it doesn’t make any sense when comparing Quality vs Quantity.

Also Nokia and Samsung have started producing very good budget feature rich phones. So it will be very hard for such a company to survive for it’s existence among top notch player’s who already have mass appeal to their products.

This news may be sounds good for our country but when it is compared to eco friendliness products then they have nothing.

No information about the SAR values of the products. And it’s shame for our country that there is no rules and regulation to control such things. In America every product passes FCC test and after that every such product series is granted by unique FCC ID to measure such things.

Finally what I think Micromax can enjoy for a while more but future is not for you when you are not responsible for the losses to human being which can never be recovered.

There is nothing special with the phones except the price points. Only peoples in rural areas are getting those phones because everyone knows. One of my friend have a local store and he does sale the phones of almost all brands speculating in our country. I had asked him about “why this companies getting such huge response from people?” Then he replied me a couple of reasons and the first of them was that “This companies are providing higher margins to the sellers compared to Nokia, Samsung etc” So it was an obvious reasons that everyone needs money here.

Also there is nothing like OS. All most of designs copied from Nokia, BlackBerry etc. Most of the phones are equipped with the chip-sets of Mediatek (a Chinese company behind such flooding market).

Also I am wondering where is Spice and what is current share of them in market. Spice is also CHOR in our country. Who has copied everything from others. iPhone like UI, BlueBerry QWERTY devices, Touch and Type. and everything. Overall it’s fun like most of Chinese company do.

I think it’s better to pay 100-500RS extra rather than going for such pity brands which are topping in terms of quantity not in quality because of unawareness among peoples.

I also agree with you. They may be top in quantity but ate the worst in quality of their phones. Most Indians buy Micromax because of its cheap prices and dual-sim capability. If most of them become aware of Micromax’s high SAR radiation, then many people will start dumping Micromax. This shameless company is playing with Indians and has no responsibility towards Indian people. Its just a greedy capitalistic company with no shame or responsibility!

Only in the likes of Nokia, Samsung, Sony E etc made affordable and feature rich dual-sim phones will then Indian public dump Micromax. Say for e.g if Micromax phones cost Rs.2500, Nokia Samsung etc could produce similar feature phone with better quality and low SAR radiation for around Rs.3000.

3rd class company, They are not fit to be in 3rd position in india. All phones are dangerous to health, This company imports phones from china and i don think they have R&D department.
The only reason for tier success in india is because of there distribution network. Once this company was a dealer in computer accessories and therefore had a good distribution network in cities, wit this they could launch cheap phones very fast and capture market easily. Atleast educated ppl should not buy such phones. Till today ter phones come wit SAR value of 1.8 to 1.94w/kg

only samsung and nokia have low SAR values in their phones (.5-1.0) compared to micromax (1.8-1.9) – the global standard for max limit is 1.6! reference: http://www.sarshield.com/english/radiationchart.htm

micromax does not give or publish its SAR value openly or transparently to public (even when asked directly from micromax management through email) and its hard to find details.

the incremental cost of producing a low SAR value phones will cost them just 1-2% more and am sure no one would mind paying 1-2% or rs.50-rs.100 more for their phones! but alas, these b****** are playing with india’s and indian people’s life!

all of them please write to micromax management so that they are forced to offer low SAR phones. these are their email ids: rajesh@micromaxinfo.com, rahul@micromaxinfo.com, vikas@micromaxinfo.com, sumeet@micromaxinfo.com

Micromax grew because of dual sim and cheap phones which is mostly preferred in rural areas. Micromax should come up with 14.4Mbps and 21Mbps data cards too. They have dual sim phones but why not dual sim data cards? ? Supporting both EVDO and 3G networks.
