Please note : COAI GSM Subscriber base does not include the Reliance Communications and Tata Docomo’s GSM subscriber Base (same not submitted to COAI).

    which says

@Vishal, I don’t know about other cities but in our town Naraingarh and Ambala City/Cantt (Main). Karnal main also, signals are live from one year. I have posted info. on my blog(3gadda.blogspot.com) also regarding this and image is also there confirming what I’m saying.. As far as Yamunanagar is concerned I wrote before in some other article here that I visited there and while searching for network I got IND 813 (which is for Uninor Haryana). The signals were also live in Jagadhri, Bilaspur, Sadhaura etc. I don’t know whether it is still live there or not as I didn’t go there from last 8-9 months.

I use Ambala in location so that others from aroung India can understand I’m from Haryana circle otherwise who knows, which circle is my town in?

Naraingarh is in Amritsar and MP, HP and other states too.

Uninor has more factors that work in its favour than factors that work against it..
    Factors in favour-
Uninor currently offers one of the best tariff plans
1)Lowest Local On-net and Off-net call rates (Rs.198 for 42000 sec to other operators and 120000 sec to uninor)
all these are also available in tata docomo which has far better coverage than uninor

2)Lowest STD per minute plans (STD as low as 30p/min)
3)Lowest ISD call rates (1p/sec to USA and UK)
4)Lowest rates of GPRS data (RS.90 for 6GB with 30 day validity and FUP 200MB/day)
5)Extra talktime on topups (Rs.350 core talktime on Rs.300 recharge, for lifetime)
6)Facility of self recharge (STV’s can be activated using the available balance in account, extra talktime can also be used for this purpose)
7)Talktime transfer facility to friends using uninor
8)Detailed balance check indicating balance seconds/minutes, SMS, MB’s of GPRS data
    Factors against uninor-
1)Network coverage inside buildings is not very great
2)schemes for Local and National SMS is not at par with other operators, they need to launch better SMS packs with lower tariff.
3)Uninor is not not operational pan India, though it has pan India license it is active only in 13 circles
4)They don’t have any rate cutters for National roaming.
If uninor works to improve upon the factors against it, it will surely emerge as one of the top 3 cellular operators in India.

We are among the lucky ones to have their own network in our town in Haryana. SIM cards are now available at local dealer shops, pamphlets are all over here. A hoarding with big Uninor logo and line in hindi, “Uninor jald hi aapke shaher mein” I have bought one for myself but can’t access network as of now. I tried to know the FRC offers but they said they have no info. regarding this. They will activate my SIM after official announcement only and then tell me FRC offers.
Read the bold letters and tell me where I wrote hoardings in Ambala? It clearly suggests hoarding in our town and not Ambala. This was in-reply to Ashish Rana’s post.

Uninor is going to start its mobile services in the said three circles within next 10 days as per our information. May be they have selected the day of Diwali for official announcement. The Uninor signals are live at some place including mine from last one year but company was unable to start services due to unavailability of spectrum. They will tie-up with other operators where infrastructure is not ready as of yet but we are among the lucky ones to have their own network in our town in Haryana. It would be great if we in this forum have this type of analysis for CDMA operators and also for Reliance GSM and Docomo GSM. Thanks in advance.

Reliance and Tata are not part of COAI and they do not report their subscriber base i.e why it is difficult for us to have a clear picture of them. I get info. only through their quarterly reports and submission of information to stock exchanges (BSE/NSE) or only when their company’s spokesperson provides estimates.

if reliance take over the uninor, as uninor is in exit mode reliance would be the leader in Subscriber base

Among the new entrants only Videocon, Loop Mobile, Etisalat DB are looking for exit. Uninor will not exit at any cost. The problem was they were unable to expand their operations as Punjab & Haryana High court had barred them from raising funds thru rights issue. But now the stay has been lifted after Supreme court directed P&HHC to re-look into the matter which then allowed the company to go ahead with fund raising.

Company has received spectrum for 4 circles (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh). It is yet to receive spectrum in some circles, including Delhi, J&K, Rajasthan, Assam and the North-East.

    Read this article carefully: moneycontrol.com/news/business/deck-cleared-for-uninor-to-raise-funds-through-rights-issue_583818.html

As per information available with me company has raised around Rs.2700 crore out of total Rs.6500 crore and about to start operations in 4 circles. But infrastructure setup will take time. They will use tower infrastructure of Bharti Infratel/Indus Towers at some places and GTL Infra at other.

I get Aircel signals in Shahbad only……..in other cities it uses TD n/w

    @Ashish Rana and Vishal Garg,

I got the signal in Saddar Bazaar area (Big Bazaar), around GMN college, bus stand etc. in Ambala Cantt and at places where there is no Uninor BTS network switches to Vodafone. As trials are going on, sometimes signals goes live and sometimes it stops from hours to days. Even here in Naraingarh, I fail to get Uninor signals on my number for several hours and same is the case with Aircel (IND 807) between 1AM-5AM. During this time we have to select Tata Docomo’s network. Maybe when you searched in Ambala, the BTS was turned off or any other reason. I had taken screenshots in Ambala with Uninor SIM but as Cell Info Display do not shows location information in standby, can’t justify this. If you visit there again, try searching and remember instead of Uninor it shows IND 813 in some handsets.

As far as hoarding is concerned, I had never ever said hoardings are placed in Ambala region. There was one in our town near Flower chowk but it has been replaced by Tata Docomo now.

Regarding the availability of SIM cards, sub dealers here get SIM cards from the authorized dealers from Ambala. If you are not getting SIM cards, its because company has asked all its distributors/dealers not to sell any SIM card as of now and tell customers tat it’s not available even if they have it. I already have the one with number 90530**0*5 which I bought from a local resellers in Naraingarh.

Don’t get impatient. Uninor is yet to install BTS at all places and subscribers are getting SIM card at places where they have their BTS like in Naraingarh. So, I request you to wait or if you are impatient come to Naraingarh and buy it from here….

Same case with tata docomo new connections here, but fortunately My portin number is safe and i have made it more safe by rechargin 197 (where i get 2k mins tata to tata and 500mins tata to others free) and limited main balance to 20Rs.
Also tata is pouring loads of offers to me, suddenly my data balance increased from 1GB To 3GB without any recharge and all of a sudden i m credited with 30mins of free video calls. Enjoying it

I think false activation is happening in all states and with new connections.. if ur connection is old, then except rgsm, no service provider will falsely activate services, chances are less then 10%. because we are loyal to the number and providing comapany some arpu every month.

Uninor will always remain a crook. They gave out 3 sims for Rs 20 and Rs35 balance in each sim and 2p/min for 30 days; to boost their customer base. Once the customer realises that they have the worst signal and data connection; they will ditch the sims just like I did to all the 3 sims lol The calls dropped inside the house similar to BSNL in 2001; however using a Motorola handset resolved the BSNL signal BUT NOT for Uninor !!! Sooner or later their customer base will fall rapidly like Aircel and Vodafone.

MTS is way much better and its recent plans have beaten Uninor. MTS also offers Android Phones for Rs 4999 with 150min, 150 sms and 150 MB each per month which is the hottest deal up to date for average college students as a one time payment and being worry free for a year :) I believe they have around 15 million users or more at present and growing rapidly. I am not sure about other circles but Hyderabad sure has a good voice and data signal.

Saurabh :Second time in a row Uninor tops the chart with maximum monthly additions and that too at a time when company has presence in 13 circles only. If they keep on growing like this, within a year or so they will be at No.5 position replacing Aircel which is facing negative growth in some circles. But as Aircel has 3G license this would factoring. But when I talked to one of the officials of Uninor, they hinted that Uninor will tie-up with Reliance Comm. for 3G services in 13 circles where Reliance is present. Uninor is yet to announce service launch in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Puinjab circle. The data shows that Uninor added 866 customers in these four circles as trials are going on.The thing that surprised me was Etisalat DB or Cheers Mobile subscribers addition. As per the data Etisalat has 12,065 and 15,493 in Haryana and Punjab circle respectively and in some other circles between 30K-45K. My question is where these 12,065 customers came from? Etisalat DB Website http://www.cheersmobile.in/ has plans for 2 circles only i.e Delhi & Mumbai and for other circles it shows services will be launched soon. As far as I know Etisalat’s network is not live even in major cities of Haryana & Punjab. How these 12,065 and 15,493 users using the services. The other thing that needs to be looked at is Idea Cellular has carved half a million customers in last 3 months in Haryana. Maybe because of 3G network’s presence at most of the places. They have replaced BSNL from second spot and I think will replace Vodafone to get the No.1 spot in coming days which has around 6.5 lakh more customers than Idea.Current Subsciber Base in Haryana:1. Vodafone- 4,305,6942. Idea- 3,662,3073. BSNL- 2,916,2884. Airtel- 2,264,6315. Videocon- 809,1246. Aircel- 545,2337. Etisalat DB- 12,065 (Operations under trial)8. Loop Mobile- 90 (Operations under trial)9. Uninor- 89 (Operations under trial)

Every one should be encouraged for posting in English but at the same time we should also allow and give respect to people communicating and expressing some valuable thoughts in some other acceptable language.

It is very much possible that some of the people may not communicate effectively in English or may feel it very difficult. So, in my opinion at least Hindi should be allowed.

    Hi Amit,
We r not against any language barrier we r doing it for the betterment , tell me one thing if a user from south India share something in his very own mother tongue say for example in Tamil and which is something very imp info how people from north or east india going to recognize the same ???
That is why we decided we will make english as a primary language which will help all, hope this helps if you have any feedback on the new rule let me know we can workaround on the same ..
    Thanks

But what if a person in south india doesnt know to comment in english???and if such info is important, the people who knows that language will miss that comment right???
So my opinion is that TT should not filter comments which are not in english.

Enjoying it :-)

Hindi should be allowed in this site , 90% people used or know hindi.
All our friends coming from non hindi belt, they understand hindi then what is the problem?
    Suggestion:- allow hindi

Though AirTel has credited my balance immediately after complaining. Also i have seen that wrong deduction/false activation of services happens only in new connections and very rarely in old connections. Its a 80:20 ratio of new:old

Today airtel cut my balance from main balance while accesing internet on mobile even though i have 3G data pack balance of 7.5 mb left in account. they deducted 12.90 paise. when i called customer care, they said “SORRY SIR, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN FUTURE”. I told them that i am going to publicise it in social networking sites rapidly. They said “Sir please we request you, that no balance would be cut in the near future”…. Now this is the truth of AirTel.

everyone should use bsnl for gprs.IF u have bsnl sim, insert it in 3g modem/3g enable phone.chage phone settings gsm to hspa/umts which means 3g network.IF 3g network is available in ur area u can access 3g speed using 2g plan.if u have 3g sim u can also recharge it by 98. bsnl is the most cheapest internet /gprs service provider.

I am using BSNL 2G with 98 GPRS pack in very good 3G network (selected manually).
No doubt, I am getting better speed than any other operator (2G plan) in any mode- GSM or UMTS.
Average speed is 150 kbps & maximum speed is 500 kbps.

Are you getting same or more than this ?

i think uninor should partner with reliance, tata and form a group to compete with the airtel-vodafone-idea nexus and create strong competition. aircel is na ghar ka na ghat ka. and bsnl&mtnl are slaves of airtel-vodafone-idea nexus.

Second time in a row Uninor tops the chart with maximum monthly additions and that too at a time when company has presence in 13 circles only. The data shows that Uninor added 866 customers in these four circles as trials are going on.
The thing that surprised me was Etisalat DB or Cheers Mobile subscribers addition.
They have replaced BSNL from second spot and I think will replace Vodafone to get the No.1 spot in coming days which has around 6.5 lakh more customers than Idea.
    Current Subsciber Base in Haryana:
    1. Vodafone- 4,305,694
    2. Idea- 3,662,307
    3. BSNL- 2,916,288
    4. Airtel- 2,264,631
    5. Videocon- 809,124
    6. Aircel- 545,233
    7. Etisalat DB- 12,065 (Operations under trial)
    8. Loop Mobile- 90 (Operations under trial)
    9. Uninor- 89 (Operations under trial)
