IDEA Cellular today announced the launch of 3G service in Panaji, Mapusa, Margao, Vasco and Ponda in Goa.
As of now Idea’s 3G services are available in 9 circles – MP, Gujarat, HP, UP West, UP East, AP, Kerala and Haryana, besides Maharashtra, and has already enrolled over 1 million users in the first of month of launch.
Idea has introduced Time based Billing plan for 3G services enabling users to avail high-end data services without worrying about the volume of usage.
To promote usage, Idea has introduced ‘sachet’ pricing offering attractive trial packages with per day billing.
To know more about Idea’s 3G services, and to check handset compatibility, customers can log onto www.ideacellular.com/3g or SMS 3G to Toll Free No. 54777.
To feel the difference personally, mobile users can experience 3G services at special ‘Experience Kiosks’ set up inside select ‘My Idea’ stores in Goa.

I’m extremely sorry I didn’t realized that Our Goan people Are always protesting against the New Cell towers plans,,so sorry that our people behaved violently with Bsnl workers and officers..
Some people think Mobile towers are like “Atom Bombs” … On top of it they blame the telecom companies for low network coverage “

Please lodge your BSNL Mh Goa network coverage (3G/2G) related complaint here or forward it to us on firstonnet@yahoo.co.in. If your areas people are against new celsite set up then do not forward ur issues & if people of your area’s are interested to set up new celsite then let us know. Almost sites are 80% completed by BSNL mobile team but only because of public oppose it’s not active mode. For e.g Housing board Marago, Maina Curtorim Exchange, Vasco MPT, Mardol exchange & almost GIDC areas it’s a big list where BSNL mobile team set up GBT tower but when they came to install BTS public started to beat, throw stones on poor labour, some of labour & Sr. BSNL officers also injured in that incident.

BSNL, Idea, AT & VF already stopped new mobile tower set up in Goa state the reason behind of that is public oppose, if public of your area not oppose to set up new celsite nearby your home let us know here, i will personally speak with Goa mobile team DGM, GM & even with CGM for new cellsite. Awaiting for your reply.
In Margao behind Chowgule college 3 years old Idea cellsite has been damaged by residents. your nearest exchange i.e. Curtorim BSNL Exchange area cellsite work stopped by public before 3 years,(Panchayat not interested to offer NOC) otherwise you will experienced best coverage of BSNL 3G & GSM than any other operator of Goa.

The Telecom Ministry has issued a showcause notice to Idea Cellular for the Karnataka circle and Spice for the Andhra Pradesh circle for cancellation of licences on account of a delay in network roll-out.
In 2008, Idea bought Spice, but has not yet received approval from the DoT to go ahead with the merger. The companies have been given 60 days to respond.
Idea and Spice Telecom had procured these licences in January, 2008, under the regime of former Telecom Minister A Raja, who has been arrested on charges of irregularities in distribution of 122 new licences along with 2G spectrum.
Earlier, the government collected approximately Rs 300 crore as liquidated damages from new operators, including Idea and Spice, over their failure to roll-out their networks as per the licence agreement. After collecting the penalties, notices are now being sent for cancellation of licences.
Telecom regulator Trai had also recommended the cancellation of licences of leading mobile operators Idea Cellular and Spice in five states for their failure to roll out services within the stipulated time.
Last month, the Telecom Ministry had secured an ex-parte stay from the Delhi High Court on the merger between Idea and Spice, a decision opposed by the Aditya Birla Group.

Speed???? we cant access 3G network though there is network, it might be launched on paper but not in reality.
It would be nice if idea removes the daily cap on GPRS pack 98

@ ARIF … now that the ORIGINAL LICENSEES (ie licenses issued by DOT) have almost 100% launched services (meeting the minimum service area requirement in each circle) its time for 3G PHASE II … where all non-licensees (eg: IDEA MUMBAI) will launch by piggy-backing on another (existing licensee) operator.. my guess is for MUMBAI, IDEA will tie up in an ICR agreement with VODA (once they launch in Mumbai).

but its Not true after from 6 april till today mean
in total 28 days idea 3G Covered 280 city??

Is Idea got 3G license in Bombay circle. I saw 3G board in New Bombay and dealer told me that Idea will start 3G in Bombay within week. So I am confused, since 3G map of TT does not shows 3G in Bombay circle.
