Idea Cellular today announced that it has marked One Million 3G users within the first month of launch in India.
Idea Cellular launched its 3G Services on 28th March, 2011 in 3 circles – Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and since then it has been progressively launching 3G services in 6 other circles of UP East, UP West, Maharashtra & Goa, Kerala, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh.
As of now Idea has launched 3G in 400 towns in 9 circles extending from Major Urban Markets, Tier 1&2 cities and finally reaching out to the deep remote areas.
Idea Cellular also claims that it is committed to launch 10 new towns per day for the next 365 days to extend the experience to 50% of the existing subscriber base with the latest 3G Services which will progressively grow to cover 750 towns by mid 2011, and 4,000 towns by the end of FY12.
Idea is the first operator in India to introduce Time based Billing plan for 3G services enabling users to avail high-end data services without worrying about the volume of usage. To promote usage, Idea has introduced ‘sachet’ pricing offering attractive trial packages with per day billing.

Khudko to pagal samajate ho toh thik hai. Aapko kisne adhikar diya ki pure thane district ke towns ke logo ko mobile ya 3G use nahi karne aata aise bate karne ka? Hum yaha Idea ki jhut bate ki poll kholne aaye hai.. Konse area ki logo ko kya use karna hai woh wahi ke log decide karange. Aap ko apki faltu rai dene ke avasakata nahi hai..

idea converted all sim 2g to 3g auto..if user not using any 2g data plan..
many friend’s told me that..
i think idea not updated city’s list on

Completly Wrong Reporting , all the operators are having issues in attracting subscribers becasue of exterely high cost . IDEA has no IDEA about itself , it is purely giving worong inputs which will not help them in any case !!!

Idea has not won 3G license in Karnataka. So they have to partner with some other telecom operators who won 3G license in Karnataka. It might take some more time may be more than 6 months to a year(not sure).

Hi santosh, idea doesnt has 3G spectrum for karnataka circle. It should share spectrum of other operators to offer 3G in karnataka and it will take minimum another 6months if idea management decides now!!

if they are claiming 400 towns then why Vasai- Virar, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath- Badlapur towns in Maharashtra circle which has more than 5 lakhs population still not having Idea 3G network!!

It’s 400 towns and not cities in actual it may be around 150-200 cities as some towns are near city limits and operators over exaggerate their figures.

Congrats 1 million auto activation(most of them), Activating 3G on someone’s number doesn’t mean everyone is using 3G. Their is the costliest 3G plan with only 5 GB max limit that too for 1750+tax. Haven’t seen any more shitty plan than idea has.
If a neutral 3rd party conducts an audit than I’m sure they will be having the least no. of user who do regular data top up to use 3G.
