Following the announcement to launch 3G by TATA DoCoMo, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone, IDEA Cellular the pan-India mobile service operator, today said that it will launch its 3G Mobile and Data services by end of 2010 and further rolls out will be done during first quarter of year 2011 across all the 11 telecom circles where it has 3G Spectrum.
Mr. Sanjeev Aga, MD, IDEA Cellular today said that “Idea Cellular was awarded 3G spectrum in 11 important service areas, where it is in the process of rolling out extensive 3G networks.
Further, Idea Cellular is pursuing long term arrangements with select quality operators for service areas where Idea was not awarded 3G spectrum. Together, these will enable Idea 3G subscribers, throughout the country, to enjoy what will be the gold standard in 3G services, apart of course, from deriving the benefit of nation wide roaming.

Idea is offering good speed in the wireless technology. EDGE GPRS means 2+ network speed only.

Idea EDGE speed was best among others in Bihar, now I am using Idea EDGE currently in Delhi. It is very good here also. It gives speed varying between 125-225 kbps. No problem in connectivity anytime. Flat 2GB in rs 98. Reliance has also same speed, but problem in connectivity a lot. Idea is giving good network with a little lesser tariff than our Biggies. Can anyone tell me how to check data balance in Idea?

Friends i have used idea edge both 5rs and 98rs plan and i am now a witness of worth edge speed.. Using uc web browser i got a downloading speed of 0.25-2.98kbps in spite of full network strength.. But in same place using vodafone and airtel i get a speed of 7-20kbps.. No one can be compared with vodafone..

I have tried each operator u fool. Idea’s network better than other operator’s but in terms of speed it is even poorer than Aircel. I was considering BSNL for speed and Aircel for cheap 3G DATA plans. It was Aircel who bought cheap unlimited data packs. And i am not considering vodafone because it’s a big cheater. And for your kind information i am with Docomo and BSNL. And Bsnl’s speed is better than the rest. Even uninor’s speed is better than your idea. If idea’s speed has improved then this is because it has less subscriber base, so no congestion…

have you try IDEA gprs in kolkata?? if not then subscribe to daily pack for rs 5 for 10 mb and open google.com. it will open in 3 seconds. Don’t write comments by reading other people’s comments.
In case of vodafone, 98 pack is available which is giving 2 gb. use it and test ur speed.
If you love to surf with AIRCEL then plz don’t try IDEA/VODA/DOCOMO/BSNL and do not post any gprs speed related comments.

Idea’s network is good but their 2G speed is tooo slow. Opening Google takes 5 to 10mins. I am happy they didn’t got 3G LICENSE IN KOLKATA. In kolkata i will trust only BSNL and AIRCEL. I hate Vodafone and Reliance. Lets see if BSNL cums wid 4G Plans next year when pvt operators r busy in launching their 3G services.

Idea has a 3G license for Gujarat (it should be yellow in colour) but not for Rajasthan ( it should be white in colour). Please make the relevant changes to the map.

Don’t expect much from idea as the MD has said the country has waited for almost 10 years for 3g, it could further wait. They are not in any hurry to provide 3g to masses.
Further every time they say it is not going to be cheap, while other operators say it will be competitive, that reflects the gesture even after winning 11 circles at very affordable price comparing to others.
Their 2g data plans like 98rs. with 2g per month are also sabse hatke where a user can only use 68mb per day if he uses 70mb then for the additional 2mb he pays 40rs (2048kb*2p/kb).
Their network might be good as their 2g network but friends what would be the benefit if they even deploy HSDPA Rel.10 (i.e. 14.4 mbps network) if the data plans comes out to be as pathetic as their 2g plans.
98% chances are they not coming with any unlimited data plans as bsnl even if any how they come that will b with FUP say like 10-15 gb which u can easily consume in less than a week even on a 3.6mbps 3g network.
Lets Just keep guessing that all these things prove wrong & they come up with some attractive offer.
