Idea cellular recently removed all types FUP or data capping from its Rs.5, Rs.16 and Rs.98 GPRS Packs for the prepaid customer of Kolkata and West Bengal circle.
Formerly they provided 30 MB, 500 MB and 6 GB inter browsing usage in Rs.5, Rs.16 and Rs.98 GPRS pack respectively.
Beyond free subscribers would have been charged as per base rate (currently 2p/KB).But now there is no data capping so that customer can browse internet in their mobile as well as in Laptop/PC by using mobile as modem without any worry or shocking balance deduction.

Rs.16 and Rs.98 recharge coupons are only available only through easy recharge option from any idea retailer as quoted from one Idea cellular CC executive. To activate Rs.5 (Auto Renewal Basis) GPRS pack customer have to dial *567*910# from their mobile. It will take maximum 2 Hours to be activated (as per customer care it will be activated within 10Minutes).
No doubt its a good approach from Idea cellular keeping in mind about the customer privileges which is truly rare event. Aircel is still providing unlimited internet browsing through their Rs.14, Rs 27 and Rs.98 RCV in Kolkata and West Bengal circle.
Though BSNL withdrawn its unlimited 2G & 3G data packs to keep their network non-congested. As 5th largest player of Indian mobile market this move by Idea certainly kickstarts a tariff war in data market. Let’s wait and watch for other operators about their next step in GPRS segment!

the new idea gprs plans not only reduces the usage capacity but also reduces the speed,in kolkata,i can’t access internet both in my pc and mobile.several times i get error messeges like ” server not found” and ” connection is reset”. even now these days it is becoming worse,can’t even open a single page in evening time. pls help me to fix this problem.

Idea internet is the slowest, worst.
So i left idea and got port into DOCOMO.
Docomo is simply rocking, speeder than all mobile internet services.

I have used !dea GRPS 6 months ago. At that time i realised that !dea is useless in terms of GPRS speed. We can hardly use 5MB data per day. For me 2GB @ rs. 98 is a unlimited plan. The download speed was 1-3 KBPS(through IDM).
After that i never think about 1dea.
Does !dea provide better speed now?

Idiot Tata Docomo Is The Worst Gsm Operator in India Especially in Kerala It is Worst. Comparing To TD Aircel,AirTel,Vodafone,Idea are Better in Coverage Than This Idiotic Company and In UTTAR PRADESH(E) and Uttarakhand Telecom Circle, It Is Sharing Aircel Network. Even Uninor is Better Than TATA DOCOMO in U.P(E).

The Problem is AirTel is Not Having Edge Network in Karnataka Except Metros Of Karnataka i.e. Bangalore,Mysore,Belgaum and Hubli-Dharwad. And That’s Not all AirTel’s Coverage is Not Available, Where Idea and BSNL Are Having Excellent Coverage in Karnataka. AirTel’s Mobile Net Speed is Worst Than Aircel in Karnataka.

Earlier when I used to check my IP detail in Gmail, it was showing India(WB)258.14…..- means West Bengal. Now it is showing India(BR)258.62…..- means Bihar. I am using BSNL SIM of Bihar. It seems that BSNL has installed a server in Bihar also.

Man, IDEA Guys Have To Setup Towers in Some Of The Places in Karnataka Like Horanadu, Amruthapura, Sulibele so That To Establish Coverage Over There. Leaving Those 3 Places Overall Coverage is Excellent. Shame On AirTel, Even They are The Market Leaders of Karnataka,They are Not Having Good Coverage Than Idea and BSNL in Karnataka. They Don’t Seems to Deploy Towers Across Karnataka. That’s Why MNP Result, AIRTEL Has Lost More Customers, Idea and BSNL Has Gain More No.of Customers

ya Idea’s speed has improved very much, im getting upto 25KB/sec even during evening hours, earlier speed used to be around 15KB/sec. Really improving very much. Aircel,Docomo have gone worse.

hope it does not remove like BSNL did withdrawing the unlimited packs after some time. TRAI/DOT have to penalize the operators for doing that as some customers might not be aware also that the offers have been removed
