How To Change Mobile Operator In India Using MNP [Video]

In order to create public awareness and protect interests of the consumers towards the Mobile Number Portability, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has released a TV commercial in Hindi and English.

As with any new product or service in the market, education to create awareness is a necessary exercise and COAI fully supports the launch of this important public awareness with its MNP campaign, aimed at enlightening customers about ‘How to change operator without changing Mobile Number’.

    Niharika :

    Sanjay Bafna Ji,
    I have a postpaid platinum number XXXXX-80000 of idea UP west & i am using this number since 6 months now I want to port this number to Airtel.
    I did not pay any amount before to get this number but in the very first bill there was a 100% discount of Rs. 10000 against number price that means this was free of cost for me.
    Can Idea reject my port-out request bcoz of platnum number or ask for Number price before port out?
    plz help…
    regards

    In case of Vanity or Premium number, operator can reject MNP request if that number subsidized or provided with any scheme or demand the cost of Vanity or Premium number before porting out.
    As you said that discount of Rs.10,000 reflected in your first bill that means your ‘platinum number’ is subsidize or given free of cost to you so operator can reject your MNP request.

    @Niharika
    You should check it first my sending ur request at 1900 for UPC. If u get UPC, it means there is no issue, otherwise you have to contact ur operator for the same.

    I think TRAI should also launch a website so that consumer can lodge a complaint for MNP. Their are huge complaints in loop mobile as they harrass consumers by rejecting their port out application because of dus ka gang plan.
    So if a consumer wants to port out from loop then he has to shift to base plan and then wait for 90 days. But as per TRAI 90 days should be completed from the date of activation of sim card and not from the date of change of plan. So a strict action should be taken against loop for violating MNP Rules.
