Google Maps Traffic info

Traffic insight feature by Google Maps can be accessed from mobile and desktop both. This feature provides users with real-time traffic state across 34 cities in India. The traffic info also covers all the national highways and express way all over India.

As soon as the traffic feature is accessed in Google Maps, it displays various routes in different colors which denotes the intensity of traffic on different roads in real-time. For example — the color Green denotes that the route is clear without any traffic, Orange color refers to neither less nor more traffic and the color Red means that the route is infested by heavy traffic.

Suren Ruhela, Director of Program Management, Google, says, ”We’re constantly working on making Google Maps a more comprehensive, daily tool for Indians, and we hope that this new real-time traffic information for 12 cities and all national highways will help drivers across the country find the best routes to their destinations with the fewest delays,” he said.

This feature by Google Maps employs real-time traffic info via Navigation mode, as it can provide more accurate estimate of arrival time and can also suggest faster alternative routes to avoid traffic infested routes.
