Future Group Will Launch ‘T24′ GSM Mobile Services in 140 Cities

Tata Teleservices Limited, the country’s youngest and fastest-growing pan-India dual-technology telecom operator, and Indian retail giant Future Group today announced that they will launch GSM mobile telephony services in over 75 cities and 65 rural destinations under the brand name T24.

As earlier we shared on TelecomTalk, the exciting new T24 GSM service was commercially launched by TTSL Managing Director Anil Sardana and Future Group Chief Executive Officer Kishore Biyani in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh).

The T24 mobile telephony service will be sold through Future Group’s extensive retail footprint across the country, beginning with Andhra Pradesh. It will be progressively rolled out across the country in the next couple of months, through Future Group’s retail networks in over 75 cities and 65 rural destinations.

Anil Sardana, MD - TTSL, Kishore Biyani, CEO - Future Group & Mayur Toshniwal, CEO - T24 Introduces T24 GSM Services in Hyderabad

Commenting on the launch of T24 GSM services, Mr. Anil Sardana TTSL Managing Director said “This is a unique marketing alliance between a retailer and a telecom operator in India, and offers us direct access to millions of Future Group customers through its widespread retail presence across India.”

T24 stands for Talk 24, and was a natural choice of brand-name for us in this unique partnership, one that will provide customers with a dual advantage all 24 hours of the day ‘Shop More, Talk More’ and ‘Talk More, Shop More’.

Speaking on the launch of T24 GSM services, Mr Kishore Biyani, Group Chief Executive Officer of Future Group said “Shopping and talking on our mobile phones are among the two favorite activities for all of us in India. With T24, we have been able to develop a unique customer value proposition that combines these interests of the aspirational Indian. Customers will get shopping benefits for talking, and talk-time benefits each time they shop.”

Just 2 months back from local Big bazar I got this T-24 sim card, on the spot handed over passport size photo and Driving licence copy, as per the instruction again next day handed over Passport copy, my vehicle documents i.e RC book copy and insurance copy, after this within 2-3 days the sim was disconnected, after enquiry local representative from same Big bazar shop insisted to handover one more set of documents. I am fedup with this system mean time twice I received SMS mentioning I am not using T-24 card since more than 180 days if I dont use it permanently it will be diactivated, is there any one to resolve this issue

  • T. Chakraborty July 4, 2012 4:54 pm

    Respected Sirs,
This is to inform you that, I am a t24 connection mobile user. Since last 20 days I am getting sms of M-fun jokes in my mobile and amount is automatically deducted from my talktime balance. I have asked several times to de-activate the same as I have not done. Your customer people are telling that he has de-activated but again I am getting the same fun sms. I have lodged complain on 24th June, 26th June, 29th June’12 and Complain No.PBR 12017229 but all are in vain. Now, Out of my talktime balance Rs23.75, deducted Rs.22/-. Is it justified? If the people of customer care are unable to de-activate then they should learn otherwise we the customers are loosing our money and getting harassment. Please look into the matter and arrange to de-activate the M-fun and get me the refund deducted from me.

    Thanking you,

  • Sandy Berger July 11, 2010 9:00 pm

Early days response of T24 indicates its been a disaster.. No one enrolling..

  • TURKEE June 21, 2010 2:41 pm

Good way to acquire Modern Trade, soon we will have other big retail players joining hands with telcos. Hope they are successful in providing good customer services as well.

  • Sandy Berger June 21, 2010 12:05 pm

Why are the T24 placard faded and jaded with the Future group gentleman and the CEO of T24 and glistening with the Tata Teleservices gentleman ? This can be clearly seen in both the pictures.

Abhi se hi rang udd ke pheeka pad gaya ?

If TTSL keeps on upgrading the existing infrastructure, it can accommodate even more players. It will never take a toll on their network or on the services offered by them. :)

Sometime back, I heard that Etisalat too will be utilizing the infrastructure of RCOM.

T24 & Virgin are MVNOs powered by TD…..TD shares its spectrum, network coverage, So some effects must on Docomo.

  • Karthik Kumar June 20, 2010 12:55 pm

    @Shayanta
Well said Shayanta…Tower sharing is different from mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). In MNVO the host company (in our case TATA) shares their spectrum with partner companies (in our case it’s Virgin & T24)…So there won’t be any drastic reduction of GPRS speed as of now…

  • Shayanta June 20, 2010 11:27 am

    ARJUN.C :
DEFINITELY TATA’S NET SPEED DEFINITELY BECOME SLOW THAN AIRTEL, BSNL, AIRCEL IF IT SHARES THE TOWERS FOR UNINOR, DOCOMO, VIDEOCON,AIRCEL, AND OTHER GSM OPERATORS

network quality or internet speed in no way depends upon with how many telcos the towers r shared. Tata is only sharing the tower, only the iron structure which has got nothing to do with net speed, uninor, videocon tata all have their own equipments & spectrum. Tata is only allowing them to put those on its towers.

  • Amit.G June 20, 2010 11:08 am

Buddy tata docomo speed won be affected with tower sharing. Uninor ll be using its own spectrum and equipments. They just fix it on tata’s towers. Now tower sharing is done by all operators. Quippo towers, indus towers and reliance infratel support all operators. Even airtel has set up its equipments in QUIPPO and reliance infratel. For details visit indus towers.com and quippo.com.

T24 is also going thrugh in TD network……….like Virgin GSM….i think a lot pressure in TD network…..

  • Abhi June 20, 2010 1:04 am

Tatas are playing very good strategy.
It arrived in GSM late and still doesnot have operations in Delhi, Rajasthan, J&K, NESA..(Though Rajasthan will be added soon). To compensate these two problems, it has adopted multi-brand strategy. We are always attracted by a new operator. These 3 brands(Docomo, Virgin,T24) have different USPs. Docomo has innovative plans, ads and GPRS packs,Virgin has get paid for incoming, V2V STD@20p and T24 has talk more, shop more and vice versa.
If right cords are striked , each of these brands will set a fire in market.
It will propel Tata as a much bigger operator quickly..

  • Raj3sh June 20, 2010 12:02 am

    SHOP MORE AND TALK MORE..
Nowadays telco r more competitive n so more innovative… But such different exciting plans made me what telco operator to select and wat to use permanently…

    sayan :
for ur kind information, check TT where a gprs speed comparison was performed between docomo and vodafone, where tata docomo was the prominant winner. tata’s internet service is better than most, but it is not the best. Best is bsnl and airtel. @aakash

Dude TT did a wonderful comparison no doubt, but they did it for only one circle & that to for few days may be, this doesn’t show the actual speed & they even mentioned it at the last. U told BSNL & Airtel is best, but iam sorry it may be in ur circle but in my circle bsnl has the worst speed followed by airtel. So circle to circle varies.

AAKASH – you are talkting utter nonsense! TATA DOCOMO’s gprs is routed through X operator, and VIRGIN and UNINOR use Y and Z ISPs …. so there is no co-relation between TATA Internet and VIRGIN / UNINOR internet speeds.
    >> As Tata has shared its network towers to tata docomo, virgin ,uninor and now
    >> T24 service so Tata internet is becoming slower day by day . Best internet

MEKALWIN T “Rome was not built in a day” – similarly T24 has been launched in ONE STATE (Andhra Pradesh) and as it is an MVNO the service will be available wherever TATA DOCOMO network is available in AP.

Stay tuned to TT for more updates!
